Five star lovely

It's difficult to write a good story where, in fact, very little actually happens. You've managed it, Lim: it is a good story, a touching story, a five star lovely story. Thank you.

Such a good and interesting story. Beautifully written. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite writers.

Okay, maybe I'm dense...

...but I didn't see that coming at all. Sweet. Sad. Poignant. Utterly beautiful.

Thank you

Thank you everyone for your generous comments on this story. I really enjoyed writing it and it kind of felt like I had an actual story to tell. I'm glad it has been appreciated.

Unusual story,

A bit confused by the ending, on the surface it would suggest that redhead was homeless, which fits the idea of panhandling for coffee. I found the suggestion of a job of some kind at the hospital unusual in the context of that. However that doesn't fit with the quiet decision to post the key which implies some knowledge that she isn't returning.

Alternatively could see it as she is a "reaper" or angelic figure who guides dying spirits home, and I suppose as that goes there isn't exactly a payroll so panhandling for coins to buy drinks would make sense, but then there's the question of why the courtship...

That said, I'm torn between wanting more clarity and loving it the way it is because it makes you wonder about these things and more, either way worthy of 5 stars. Very well done

confused

Feeling a little stupid here by the ending.

She hangs the key because she won't be needing it, and then she dies? If the girl is an angel of death, why can't she read, and why the alms collecting?

I really liked the tempo, the descriptions of the heroine's feelings, surroundings, actions, and the sex.

And damn I feel dense about the ending.

The main character is terminal (keep strength up, have a positive attitude, periodic trips to the pharmacy. Didn't have the energy that she used to) and the redhead who I'm naming Sharon [Charon] is the guide to the afterlife. It is traditional to pay a toll in coins for safe passage. 2 pennies place on the eyes. The 2 pennies that the main character gave Sharon and which were passed back and forth.

WOW, SO SAD YET SWEET ............

......... strangely it reminded me of a brilliant, but short lived TV programme (Dead Like Me I think it was called) about a group of "reapers".

I can not even imagine someone knowing that they are going to die tragically young, which perversely I know what it does to the surviving partner!!

The acceptance of her fate, with an almost graceful reverence was touching whilst sad, but that was tempered by her "guide" giving her a last chance at love and friendship, albeit in an unconventional way.

Now the big question .............. did she pass over, or did she become a guiding reaper of souls herself?

A Masterpiece!

You said "I'm not sure what this is..." but I think you know. This is an incredible set piece. The ending was perfect.

I can picture in my mind Rod Stewart introducing this with the words "...Next stop, the Twilight Zone!"

Just WOW!!! Five Stars!!!

Lovely...

...little story. Wonderful characters. I can picture the street girl a little better, but their features aren’t as important as the relationship. Good buildup, mice transitions. And wonderful use of language, as always. Thanks so much!

I am marveled at how much was said and wasn't said in this short story. Read it twice before it hit me. Read it a third time, very slowly, absorbing the touches, the turn of the phrases, the inuendo, and the shift of the characters. Beautiful! Simply beautiful!

Soooooo heart touching ....... What a lovely fomance ....... The real simple things ...... Yes being in the Here&Now is the only way to truly expereince life, so in all her being this girl tasting the coffee smelling the coffee again and again, is the best teacher ....... At this stage money doent matter

I always wonder where and why excellent authors disappear to. I know one who tragically died in an auto accident. I’m sure most get distracted by real life and simply never get back, or find they can make a living with their words and move on to greener pastures. I can understand the various reasons, just wish those who could would let their adoring fans know what’s up. Wherever you are, if you ever still see your comments, I am so glad I found your stories. I read one and have been irritated when life interrupted me from continuing to read the rest. Your ability to convey emotion is outstanding! I think you must have an Empath nature as well. You shall remain on my fave authors list with hopes of seeing you again. Thank you

Fucking genius.

Even better to have explained nothing. Let us figure it out ... or not. Even in your comment...

Just what a good writer knows how to do.

This has been written in the same way a really good caricaturist captures an image, a minimum of ink of the paper, but instantly recognisable, it is bare and minimalist, but complete… and yes, I’d have wanted to get to the bottom of the list too, seems only right somehow.

Many thanks for writing and posting, Ppfzz. 5⭐️

This set of interconnecting stories comprises essentially a single rather disjointed novel (and one bonus unconnected ghost story). The title of the overarching work is I Walk A Little Faster. The proper reading order for the individual parts is as follows: Pretending Life is...
