Interesting read leaving me perhaps with more questions than answers. Strikes me as curious the Father did not inform her of the Tutor, perhaps the second chapter provides the answers I'm looking for. Also, no decription of GO appended. Would be useful to understand the rules.
Nice work, Joe. Very good beginning; I'm waiting to read the next chapters with interest. I know a bit about Go but as Neon said it might be better to have the description in the beginning of the story, rather than at the end, for the reader's understanding of coming chapters.
Your rump squashes *two* thousand blades of grass.
You have a lovely, understated voice here that makes the historical context entirely credible. Brave and intriguing. But the line that got me hooked was the thousand blades of grass. I'll be back.
By the way, I think it's clever as hell that you always hide a reference to your rump somewhere in your stories. It's become your signature. I look forward to finding it in the next chapter. Go. Write.

Good Start.
Enjoyed it so far. Looking forward to more.

This seems comfortable... almost familiar. Must go now to read part two and three.
