Both should be read together, before commenting. I am surprised how well the complete each other.

I like this line:

Rock and water speak your language.

Sibling poems

I have to agree with twelveoone. The two poems compliment eachother and one gets more out of the two together than each individually. Hmm something going on here to think about.

I like both poems and love them together.

one line

~and I say to your smiling face,

Baby, sometimes Mommy has this dream...~

God the shiver that went through me..

That is intense and the two poems together are wonderful, full, and infinitely melancholy.

Some of the best stuff I've read in a long time.

Thank you

good, good

we need more poems involving the flapping of arms and the shouting of non-words.

Now I've read

these two poems a number of times and I think they are my favorites of all of your poems Anna. I'm not maternal really but I think I understand what you are saying -- which is really beside the point because there is an existential beauty thing here that absolutely captivates me and sweeps me up into a moment -- private - intense and enveloping and that is totally maternal - I hope you happen to go back and read comments on old poems because I am just blown away by these two poems -- thanks
