AMEN BROTHER
i agree
Well Thoughtout.
I don't think that I have ever read a more well written, heartfelt essay to this topic before in my life.
Very well done.
One of the best "rants"
I have read concerning the touchy topic of abortion. You make a very important comment in it that I've always believed myself. If you're going to play, you need to be mature enough to accept that you might have to pay...some type of cost, pregnancy or otherwise.
Glad I took the time to read this, very well written.
right on...
Wow, is that common sense I just read? Keep it up and share your opinion on other difficult subjects.

nice thought
Love the fact that a man wrote this. Too often all we hear is a woman's point of view. Having been the "victim" of a man who turned out to be a 'hit and run father' (told me he was too old to be a dad), I hit that wall... keep the baby or have an abortion? I was already raising one child on my own, and really had been using bc, and the very idea of raising another one on my own was overwhelming. I'm happy to report I made the right choice for me.. he's 15 now and has brought so much joy into my life I sometimes wish I could find the bum who donated the sperm and thank him... kinda. It may not have been the right choice for someone else, though. Anyway, thanks for the insight. Remaining anonymous.. just because :)
Great Job
This is by far the best "rant" about abortion that I've ever read, and as pointed out already, it is very likely because it is a male point of view fueled by personal belief, and not by someone moralizing for others because they think they have the right to.
I'm seriously thinking about letting my teenaged daughter read this, both as a balanced view of the topic and what a healthy male stance on abortion looks like.
Thanks! I'll read the rest of your essays now, lol. :-)
Refreshing rant.
Nice to have a male perspective on this topic. Also great to see this expressed from a voice of experience and reason, not simply out of personal justifications.
exactly
Exactly. We might not think that it's always the right choice but thank God the choice is still there.
Realistic moral views
Refreshing to see someone voice an honest and well thought out opinion..your friends situation is exactly the same as mine however i chose to keep my child, i too have also held the hands of freinds who've had abortions and even though i know its not for me i dont judge women who choose this option (within reason). Thank you for an enjoyable and rare male perspective.
Insightful reading that I could connect with
Your essay is one of the most well-written and informative articles I have ever read.
I especially liked the hard-hitting (literally!) way you approached the issues of men refusing to take responsibility ('hit-and run' was an excellent way to view them) as well as women putting their appearances first.
Combined with a few statistics, this could be a perfect take-off point if you ever wanted to write a professional journal on abotion.
If only we could see the big picture ...
If sexuality were based on rational behavior, we would all be celibate. Demonizing someone for a lack of discipline is denying human nature. I am not arguing that people cannot or should not be responsible, but I do not think laws on abortion should be used to condemn debatable vices. There are too many adverse effects. Your views are understandable and sympathetic, but if you’re going to such extreme lengths to criminalize potentially callous parents, you may as well advocate sterilization. You may recoil at the shallowness of a whiny party girl or a deadbeat dad, but do you really want either to reproduce or care for dependents? Surely the rape victim’s trauma could not trump the rights of the prospective baby if the unborn child were granted human status? If your sensitivity to the child is largely based on your opinion of the mother or father, are you really sensitive to the child at all? More important, do you think any abortion ruling would actually change the behaviors or people you find despicable? The abortion debate is not your personal moral compass, and unwanted outcomes can just as easily arise from the behaviors or intentions you revere. You’re trying to dictate how people should be. I think the best response to the abortion debate would be a more objective examination of how people actually are.
Sorry
I would edit my earlier comment if I could, since I realize the vehemence of my response did not match the tone of your article. I bullied you for your subjectivity, though you never claimed to be offering anything more. In your case, I think you were rendering passive-aggressive judgments more palatable. I have no objection to that as long as abortion remains a matter of personal judgment. Backing laws with opinions, however, is a different story.
Not quite so...
In order to be bullied, one would have to be pushed - and your comments did not move me at all. I understand that you have an emotional investment in your response, but your opinion is not the only one - and thus I wrote my rant and then you replied with your own. People will never agree wholesale on anything, and abortion is no exception. Don't ever expect anyone to approach anything with a mindset that perfectly mirrors your own. That ain't gonna happen, so instead of adopting a 'how dare you' attitude, you should realize that your beliefs and views are not the only ones with merit.
Touche
Babies should die.
There's absolutely no problem with having an abortion, even if for superficial reasons. Babies aren't something great and amazing, and if you don't want to waste 9 months (potentially more) of your life being pregnant, then why not have an abortion? IMHO, I think you are writing total nonsense with this whole "I am alive!" business. It's like a bad American sitcom...Scratch that, any American sitcom...
Yeah, babies may not fit your lifestyle, which is why there is abortion. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. In fact, I think it's a good thing in society.
Turina you are absolutely right
For instance, if your mother had an abortion when she were pregnant with you, there would be one less superficial self-absorbed heartless bitch in the world. So in your case, you are absolutely right.
