realistic, but rare.
have you heard of married folks who live seperate but regularly "date" each other?
some folks realize they love each other, but need space to get along. some can't sleep together and use sperate bed, some seperate rooms, and some seperate homes.

Maybe reality is the answer you have stumbled upon in keeping marriages together in love by having a man do his responsibilty and a woman do hers, and viola, they get to play afterwards.

No drugs, cheating, booze, cuckolding, running around, blaming, etc. What's wrong with you?
A simple story about a couple whose sex drive goes into overdrive when in the same room together; can't keep their hands off each other or their clothes on. But live together? Now that's another story.

I suspect the the problem was that egos got in the way and that ain't how it works. I suspect if you wrote a chapter two with a happy reuniting the underlying reason for it to happen would be that they would be trying to do for the other and lay their egos aside. A beautiful story.
