Anonymousalmost 19 years agoYou poem immediately brought to mind Grant Wood's painting, American Gothic. Maybe it's just me but conjuring up a persons bank of images and creating new ones shows the poem is working.

twelveoonealmost 19 years agothis looks like a "poets walk"; a workshop piece, pleasent and not offensive, rife with near cliches.
the moon of harvest, the dreaded "salt".
But it has a nice underlying theme of contrasts
We pray for rain,
we pray for drying days
Even the longest day of summer
passes too quickly
and the allusions to spring and fall
ishtatalmost 19 years agoWhen I was a child my mother had a wallpaper which illustrated scenes of Arcadian bliss.I'll have to apologise because my memory of those images is getting in the way of appreciating your poem which triggered something I had totally forgotten.Sorry!

Bill Dadaover 18 years agoI agree with 1201 on this one. It is very nice, but I prefer it when you lead me to places that I never imagined going to before.
