This is a good short short story, well crafted, believeable and with a 'feelgood' ring about it. Well done. Perhaps you might write more about the group of friends as they grow up.

Reminds me of my senior year in HS. We did Bye, Bye, Birdie, too, and someone was smart enough to say...well, the name of the Scottish play on opening night, whereupon I almost got run over by our extremely large, almost-2-story set of the Macafee house, one of the skrims was torn (by the same set) and we had to pin it together during the intermission, and a lightbulb shattered on stage (it was being used as part of a cardboard TV "camera" for the "Ed Sullivan Show").
I think one of the power cables shorted out, too, but maybe that was in one of the rehearsals. I know I twisted my knee in a rehearsal, and even 5 years later it gives out on me, but that was my own fault, jumping around the way I was.
