Nice short story. And there's nothing wrong with a quick little story. The potential is there for at least another chapter.

So...did she die or did she leave him?
Your first paragraph said that the wife left the father for another man. Later on, you say that she died...which one is it? Either way, nice story. I'd like to see where this goes.
