It reminds me of Dickens

And how fiction can make the real, real.

We can peruse all the statistical studies and newspaper articles we want about the people at the edge of society, but it takes a story like this for them to become people and not a faceless, unreal 'them'.

Very nice piece of work. The emotions well described, the characters full and their motivations explored deeply.

The language was wonderful, so rich.

Very well done!

Good Story

I enjoy your story very much though the ending seemed to come out of left field.

But without kindness to lighten our souls

We all to often ignore to what depths humanity can fall. Simple kindness can do so much in the face of utter despair. Please continue the story, where ever it leads you.

Pretty Good

Overall it was pretty good but the ending was strange. It didn't finish the story and I didn't feel that there would be another installation.

Please continue, if you find a way...

Please write on, if not this one, but I would like a part 2, then some other.
Your compassion is uplifting, we need more.

John

:)

I'm so very impressed here, and touched too. A lot of Americans nowadays come across to my view as arrogant unthinkingly patriotic sons of *** .. Most are a long shot from living what's called 'the American dream' but in their minds they all seem to believe they are there, or that they at least soon will be in some extremly egoistical manner.. You do not, you seem both honest and compassionate.. That's the simple honesty that once was the hallmark of America but now are disappearing under the subterfuge of make belief.. You describe the America that exist behind the 'scene'.. Of course poverty and despair exist in all Countries, not only the States, but as nothing ever can be wrong 'over there' the poverty line gets very muddled under the denials of those patriotic citizens.. To follow the human heart can be very hard at times.. If I could give you a double hundred you would have it..Cheers Yoron

Very nice

I have a weakness for this kind of story, and I found it refreshing that it focused more strongly on the emotional side-there was obviously a sexual/sensual side, but you slipped slowly into that. I think some readers get so caught up in expecting just erotic sex that they forget that GOOD writing has both plot and a point, which to me always makes the eventual sex better. You did a wonderful job with both, and I thank you for the pleasure. This was lovely.

The story so far...

Just as an aside, I'm about 1600 pages into a slight expansion of this story.
