An image so vivid
of a Southern
small town scene;
very well done.

The town square where I live is exactly like you describe. I liked this. :)

Oh Dear!
I'm sorry...I'm new and I didn't mean to put the comment in twice. I thought the first one didn't work. :(
perfect
I liked this poem MUTT..a very good and inspirational poem...(~_~)
Either more pride or more tears
As I'm new to this Forum my comment is probably redundant. However, I thought that as to having a marvelous subject and very inspirational thoughts, I thought the poem lacked a true face. It just listed the facts. Their was very little reason to feel for the participants or find an anchor in their reason's for coming back to this point in their lives in rememberance.
Great images
And white sheets hang from cotton lines
like ghosts of broken Rebels,
and the crosses on the churches
pray for lightning so they’ll burn.
I was just waiting!

This poem was mentioned in the Archival Review thread, in a picking through Lit's archive of over 35,000 poems.
