Extremely well done! Such a carefully scripted drama from a supposed new author??????Hmmmmmm.
Nonetheless, wonderful plotline and character development, and terrific treatment of the underlying fidelity issue. Earlier comments on Ch01 dealt with the cruelty to the daughter at the revelations on her birthday, but I don't mind the authors method of tossing in some cruel reality in a plausible way. Jen could have come home to her mother's rotting corpse as well....that's also cruel. Anyhow, the plot development is building to a crescendo, a watershed reckoning of time, love and retribution. But methinks this story has some twists to come, and the possibility of a happy-ever-after final scene. Not likely? You don't know bikers.......cross them and you're dog food.....but their honour is to look after their own....go figure.

DISCREPANCY?
No doubt, if we treat this as a fiction the story is good; but please remember that if the kids have different blood groups that does not mean that the paternity is in doubt. This is a fallacy.
The reason I am pointing this out is that some guy can honestly believe in it & tarnish the image of his wife. Their must be atleast some accuracy in the stories.

My Mind Wandered
Half way through this, my mind started to wander. I knew the first part of the story was good and was having a hard time relating this chapter to the first. I stopped in the middle and went back to read chapter 1 again. I am sorry but this part of the tale seems to drag and not tie into the first part. Of course it is a continuation but something got lost, somewhere. I will read the next part and hope that it picks up a little.

blood typing for paternity
You inherit either an A, B or O from each parent. If you get OO, then you are O. If you get AO or BO, then you're A or B not O since A and B are dominant over O. If you get two AA's then you're A, etc. If you get an A and a B, then you're AB. In this story, the daughter is A and the wife is O while the husband is AB. The daughter in this case could have inherited an A or a B from the husband and her blood type would have been A or B since she would inherit an O from her mother. So yes there is an error and the husband could well be the father. This error would not have occurred if he'd made the husband B and the daughter A. The rh factors + or - are more complicated.
Simple blood typing is not legal paternity testing. For many years the legal standard was HLA, which tests a protein found on white cells and is a genetic fingerprint. Now of course you can use DNA.
I encourage people to use the internet to check facts.
The author didn't detail the testing done but he did say there was an adoption. That actually wasn't necessary since the presumption under the law is that the child born in a marriage is the father's. You have to work to get out of fatherhood not into it. But the waiver of rights was a nice idea.

the only one who sees Molly as not excactly am up-right person?
1. She carries on a long term affair with a married man. Ask Ron's wife what that makes her.
2. She lets Ron fuck her and get her pregnant and doesn't protest until he is done. She wasn't aware of what was happening. Right.
3. She asks a friend to commit a crime and change medical records to cover her ass. That could end her friend's career and possibly get a jail term.

- is recessive. The mother is o- and Jim is AB-. Although technically the Rh really covers 3 genes (or maybe the other 2 are only similar, depending on what you read), only 1 is actually used to specify Rh+ or Rh-. If both parents are -, all they have to contribute to the blood type is - and -- is Rh-. Since mom contributed a - and daughter is +, the daughter must have -+ which is Rh+. The way I read that, Jim can't be the father since he could not possibly have contributed a + (except in the very rare instance of mutation).
Cloacas is correct about the presumption of paternity. If you're married, you're presumed to be the father. I don't know if all 50 have changed it, but PA passed a statute in 1999 making the presumption rebuttable. Before that, if the husband was living with the mother and capable of producing children, it was his, notwithstanding the genetic impossibility. If this case in this story was in PA, I'm still not sure Jim could prove she wasn't his because one of the methods of "proving" paternity is: "If, during the lifetime of the child, it is determined by clear and convincing evidence that the father openly holds out the child to be his and either receives the child into his home or provides support for the child." I can't log into my research program to find out if that has been applied in an instance where the husband was fooled into thinking the child was his.

4. (so far we know) wife meets lover monday before child turns 18.
5. husaband knows child isn't his (based on the story)
what do we have here? a wife fucks her lover, gets pregnant, gives birth, assumes lover is father of child, commits a felony to deceive husband of child's paternity.
fast forward to 18 years, she meets her lover for no apparent reason. husband thinks she fucks him anew. leaves her.
ohh man we've been here before.. lemme guess, wife didn't want to meet lover but was "forced" to meet him bec lover threatened to tell her husband her 18 year secret.
wife goes to meet with him but dont fuck him and tell him the last time was a mistake, blah, blah. blah..
after a few heart rending chapters, husband and wife separate, go those usual trials and tribulations and viola they reunite and live happily ever after...
really??? we forget, wife betrayed husband, allowed him to raise a child not his (in the wife's mind). but as fairy tales go, the child is his actually (the absence of any dna test at this time will surely some out later) and they live happily ever after.

Either the "tests" (which were not good or precise enough to determine paternity) turned out to be true, as told us by the husband in the second paragraph above (part II of the story) BUT he decided to remain married to the cheating wife anyway, since she's such a beautiful woman (even if she fucked around and got pregnant and swore her friends and coleagues to eternal secrecy),,, OR
They have ultimately/recently proven to be false and in fact the girl, now 18, has always been his (even if he's worry AND SADDEN for most of his adult life); and thus he's beeing telling us a story that had already come to pass in his favor (with "suspense"), where the kid's concerned.
(The cheating wife, that's another story. I"m sure she cried like hell, once her fucking around found out. But the man's a wimp anyway, and she's beatufil, so she knew either he kept her or she was going to get another husband, who would not only forgive her for fucking around but likely approve it)

Im with the commentators that cant see how the wife can be 'good people' given what she did/does. Doesnt even matter if she only physically cheated once really since she chooses to lie to him every day about the daughter. That pretty much negates the 'it was just a mistake' theory as far as I can see. If she really loved the guy she would have told him the truth and tried to talk him into staying/forgiving her. Then it would have been a mistake. This is an 18 year long betrayal that she could have choosen to end at any time but never did.
I also cant really understand why some people think the husband is an asshole because he exposed things. He forgave Molly getting pregnant by another guy and raised his child as his own until she was an adult. He made sure she has everything she needs to get a good education and be a sucessfull adult. Now he thinks the affair has resumed but he is still supposed to grin and bear it? Maybe he should go to the hotel and guide the guys cock into her while he's at it? Hes already done more than most anyone would so even if he had ranted and raved and told the world, its would have been understandable (maybe not nice but understandable). Still would be about 1000x less than the way his wife fucked him over (or thought she did) for the last 18 years. It really didnt seem like he was being mean and hurtful in telling the daughter anyway. He made sure she knew he would always be there for her and that she was just as much his child as she always was. She is 18 years old for christ sake and deserved to know the truth even if it wasnt brought on by the resumption of the affair (or not depending on what the author writes - hope its just a talk though since blackmail sex would be just as bad as if she resumed the affair willingly - just an escalation of her 18 year long lie).
Looking forward to the next chapter & hope you get back to the good stuff (you know what I mean - its bad stuff but its the meat of the story). This chapter establishing the back story was good but I was eager to get to the drama (instant gratification and all that :). Thanks for writing.

Everything in this story was great except two things
(1) When jim went with Fred, the owner of the first business , I don't believe the Hummer they got into was made yet fot the public. that would have been 20 something years ago. Maybe the bikers stole one from the military for him lol
(2) Sally was in the kitchen making dinner for us. You meant Molly I'm sure. and Jennifer was still a little to young to be eating Mommy and Daddy food.
Other than that, one hell of a good story, and excellent writing.
PS: I'm not trying to be a nit picker either.
Good, but could have been better
There is too much dogmatic crap in this story. So what if the baby was not yours? You are the father when it was born so that makes you the legal daddy. Get on with your life, anything short of that is being the sick bastard you seem to be.
I'm having a problem with her work.
Does she wear blinders while she is stocking the shelves? Is she so clueless that she can't tell the difference between her husband and her lover? If the lover was so quick to be in her and cumming before she realizes it, what was the attraction in the first place? If she was spaced out when the lover fucked her, why would the husband want to keep her if she is prone to these black-outs?
She has betrayed her husband in the most henious way possible. Her husband is right in leaving her, even if he finds out it was just an innocent visit with Ron on Monday. I think he should sue Ron for back payment of the cost of raising a child.

I like the story very much. I have also read all of the comments so far and only have a couple of my own.
She cheated on their "relationship" even before they were married. She says she is in love with Jim but still fucks Ron and then feels guilty. We already now know she is a cheat.
She fucks Ron, supposedly by mistake, after she is married. We are to believe she didn't look to see who was fucking her? I am a guy and I would look to see who I was fucking and I believe every woman would look to see who was fucking her. We still know she is a cheat.
Blood types etc etc being not perfect? WHO CARES
It is a story and the story works for the 999 of a 1000 who don't know the truth... as I said WHO CARES.
Lying though after the facts became known to her was wrong. She said she kept a blood type card with the daughter. What though if the daughter was with the husband and no card was available? Could have been a disaster. She is a liar and of course we also know she is a cheat.
Now what we do not know is what happened recently between Ron and her. I am thinking it cannot be good because Jim's biker buddies are going to know what happened and Jim obviously knows. The liar and cheat didn't say much did she? She just gets up and goes up to the bedroom. Kind of already tells the story doesn't it? I think so.
Anyway, I like the story and am anxiously waiting for the next release. Thanks for your great efforts.

The house of martyrdom and deception
Like life in macro politics, so it is in the intimate relations between husband and wife. They say: It’s not so much about the crime as it is about the cover up. When will they learn? …oh well I guess human folly and the ability to self delusion and self destruction are here to stay. When the stakes are high, the temptation to deny every thing by keeping silent is very powerful. Never mind that for that short term postponement of consequences you end up paying ten folds the price of your original sin. As another reader mentioned, this couple did not have one day of marriage without the shadow of a hidden lie hovering over them. And that was the happy marriage they were going ‘Ga -Ga’ over?
Even If only Molly knew about it, it is well known that the presence of the ‘unspoken big secret’ is usually felt by the cheated spouse over the years. Many times when the secret is finally revealed the cheated spouse will say that he/she always knew that their spouse was hiding something from them. We can lie with our words, but not with our eyes the tone of our voice, our body language, or with a slip of a tongue.
Here it’s even worse. A game of a double lying is in a full swing. He knows, and he also knows that she does not know that he knows. She knows and thinks that he does not know – what a great calculus to keep in your mind all times, as you lead a happy and spontaneous family life.
The rational for his sainthood position escapes me. With no exception we learn that an on going lie in any relations is like trying to grow food in a nuclear toxic waste site. The same question applies to Molly’s self serving and misguided attitude regarding her vowing to keep a life long of lying. She is a human who made a mistake, she just does not feel that she is willing to risk paying the price for it, and demonstrate that she really loves her husband by respecting him and allowing him to know the truth, and make and informed choice. Rather, she has the temerity to present it as a sacrifice for both him and her daughter. Given the destruction that the lying and its cover up bring you have to wonder- what and who were they protecting from the truth?
What terrible lesson will the poor daughter draw from these wonderful parents? Keep façade, suffer like a martyr and learn how to lie to the best of your ability?

So far this is a pretty good story except for the bloodtyping. it is perfectly possible for a child to be pos or neg, it doesn't matter what the parents are. It is like two right handed people having a left handed child, it is all in the recessive genes.
With blood typing you inherit one type from each parent. Type O is actually OO. It is actually the absence of A and B proteins. A persons type can be AA,AO,BB,BO,AB or OO.
In this story if the husband is AB- and the wife is A-(AO or AA)? their child would be AA, AO, BO or AB either positive or negative. The only type that the child could be that would tip off the dad would be OO.
Sorry to get so picky but stuff like this bothers me when it is incorrect, especially when it is key to the story.

I don`t get the Rh factor eliminates him as the father ++ and +- both read as + but if you read negative than you are -- which means that two negative can only give negative. But since a positive can have a negative recessive two apparent positives can give a positive or a negative. Therefore Jim was eliminated from the fatherhood sweepstakes. Under any circumstances the discussion in the lounge would normally have brought a strong reaction from the husband... I doubt if I could have taken the decision that her initially took or his subsequent decision....

Writing Is Good. Consequences To Be Determined
Molly had many, many, many chances to break it off with Ron. But the sex was too good to be faithful to John. This story would be so much better if Ron's charred body were to be found in the Arizona desert a week or so after John determines that Ron is, without a doubt, the biological father of Jennifer. And Molly should suddenly disappear as well. Either that, or turn Molly and Jennifer over to Ron to take care of, and at the same time, ruin his marriage.
