Too many women, and men too, use the old excuse " I wuz sik"
My God that is so old and tired out. There is no such thing as being mentally sick..It's just having the courage to fight the world that tries to make us sick. How many times had Julie heard it on the TV. in movies, from other women talking, that men are no good, dumb fuk, interested in themselves only and God knows what else. All this shit comes into a persons mind every day in and day out.
Julie had a weak mind, one that gave up when the going got rough. That kind of a woman , and yes, men too, use that old excuse " I wuz sik" Bullshit. I just have one thing to say. Why does Richard get off so well. First of all the hubbie has his wife go and let him out of the garage. What is this...do the good neighbor thing..fuck him and his car...I can understand not hitting him right then and there because of the dumb ass laws we have thatare made by weak minded people to protect them from us strong willed people.
What's the fuck for getting the bastard out by himself with no witnesses. That fuck knew that he was trashing a man's home. He knew what he was doing and yet he get's off scott free...Bullshit. He would have been high on my list of people to casterate.
I've no idea what tree the previous poster fell out of but his/her assertion that "There is no such thing as being mentally sick." is contradicted by the Wikipedia (and innumerable other publications and sources). According to the Wikipedia, "A mental illness or mental disorder, as defined in psychiatry and other mental health professions, is a mental condition assessed as abnormal or maladaptive and involving significant distress or disability. This can involve cognitive, emotional, behavioral and interpersonal difficulties." Sure sounds like somebody thinks that folks can get mentally sick but apparently Anonymous has some special insight on the subject.
S/he goes on to expound, "It's just having the courage to fight the world that tries to make us sick." Perhaps this is a paraphrase of Nietzsche or mayhap a recipe for chicken soup? Who knows? Here's one thing I know: when the neurochemistry in your brain is screwed up and out of balance, no amount of courage nor willpower nor prayer nor anything else is going to make you not feel chronically depressed because it's a physiological affliction. It has scientifically and medically demonstrable causes and effects. It's not voodoo. It's not witchcraft. It's a disease, and only an idiot would claim otherwise.
By the way, thecelt, good story. Thank you.

This is NOT mental illnnes but a character flaw
I somehow took what the OB said and translated that to x being risky and causing danger to my baby. Not consciously, but still a nagging start. Since Tom was related to sex and lovemaking, I began to connect him to risky behavior. This then began to translate into harm to the baby. Tom slowly became an enemy
Not a bad story, fairly well-written, keeps the reader's interest. The story also generated lots of comments; bland, dull stories don't do that! I think it is reasonable for a person suffering mental illness to not be responsible for their actions. The law recognizes the "insanity defense" and we should too. That said, Julie's mental illness has created a schism between her husband and herself, not to mention between herself and her child, and that schism is wide enough that reconciliation is not likely, nor is it reasonable. Take an extreme example; a person kills their spouse due to "mental illness" but after treatment gets "better" so-as not to require being locked up in a psychiatric hospital any longer. Since the spouse is dead, reconciliation is not possible. In a figurative sense, Tom has suffered so much hurt that his trust in Julie is dead. Emotionally, I don't think he could get past the cheating even if logically he might accept that Julie was just suffering an illness (mental rather than physical) and was somehow not responsible for her actions. One thing about depression, however, that is not realistic in this story. When a person suffers post-partum depression, or any depression, the person usually does not have the will to resist being taken to a doctor for treatment. Julie would not have argued and refused if the problem was just depression. Her mental illness would have to have been something much more serious. Tom, even if he were to try to reconcile, would have a tough time trusting that Julie would not relapse and cheat again. If someone is insane and murders someone, how easily can we trust that person not to do it again? Were I Tom, I sure would not wish to risk being hurt again by another outbreak of "mental illness" with repeat cheating by Julie.

Well now may I form a scene and then ask a ?
YOu are the sole survivor of your family that died in an airliner crash. You find out in hearings that your pilot himself by his actions and lack of actions caused the crash. What did you expect when you boarded the plane, you expected your professional pilot to act professioinally, to fly you and your family from point A to point B safely in a timely manner and put you all at your destination safe, alive, and well. You really dont care that last night he walked into his home and found his wife with another man and because of that he did not perform as the pilot of an airliner should. You dont really care about his personal life, you paid for a ticket to do what the airline is expected to do. This wife totally destroyed the family, betraying herself, her husband, and effectively neglecting her child, all intentionally. When the husband tried to find out why or to get her help she simply cut him down. Now suppose this was your daughter married to a man who did these sorts of things to your daughter and to their baby child. Do you really care why he did them, no actually why isnt important, what is important is that he did them. Let the wife get medical help, let her try to form a new life. Get the divorce, raise the child, find her a new wife for you and mother figure for her. Her old one is not a mother figure. When the mother is "better" let her have occassional controlled meetings with the daughter. And when the daughter is an older teen allow her to determine how much time she will spend with the person who is her blood mothter but betrayed and neglected her as a child. Remember the mom in Houston that drowned her kids in a depression? Did it matter to the kids why their mother murdered them? Dead is dead, if this man is of moral and ehtical character this woman is dead.

The reconciliation is already in play
You let her monologue change his mind and begin to wrap his feelings around her. No where in this chapter have you related the fact she placed herself, her child, or her husband in harm's way by her chosen actions. Now where in here have you addressed the medical risk of disease since she had been fucking a young man with an ego that would have caused him to fuck anything that moves. Genetically one must ask does the mother's "illness" run a risk for the child. One car argue very well that the mother is unfit to raise children and no amount of psychological counseling will make her a better mother. Women with this "illness", port partum depression, hve been know to injure and kill their children even during and after counseling. I hope you have better judgement than to foster this woman back upon a man who loved his wife but not the wanton adulterer.

I wasnt responsible for my actions, I could work
and be capable but in my own private I was unable to make myself do right. Hmmmm, that and ten dollars will get you a great cup of coffee. Even if she regains any saneness at all should her husband accept her back? No way in hell! Anyone that does this to their marriage, and lots do, are mentally unbalanced. Just what I want a wife that is mentally unbalanced, and who gains some stablity until the next time she goes off the deep end. DIVORCE is how it is spelled!
Did "thecelt" have all 4 chapters planned out before he wrote this one, or did he bow to the pressure of criticism? Not much of the former, I don't think and there was some strong opinions voiced. Personally - unlike a lot of the others - I did not have a problem with the timeline, though I agree with the critical view about how old Tom should be. A simple mistake, but now impossible to re-edit.
This is coming along very nicely. A lot of people sneered at the probability of a re-conciliation - which at the end of the last chapter seemed impossible - has been turned around with a very credible explanation to Julie's irrational actions and thoughtlessness, & is now a sympathetic character. Thecelt has wriggled out of a very tight corner on this one
I wish that I could be as rich as Tom, who can give his soiled house away and simply buy another - just like that! This is one part of the story where it loses its realism.
Still - of course - this novella has no real place on this website, but if you want people to read your work, you sometimes have to be a bit crafty!
I can't figure out where the baby was when she was screwing Richard? If she was at the house, he'd have taken her. If she tried to foist her on the grandparents, they'd wonder at that. How did he know she was at a babysitter?
Had he already made arrangements for her to stay at his parents house? Did I miss something?
Chemical imbalance or not .... She's still a fucking slut
I've read this story on numerous occasions & my view/opinion hasn't swayed an inch. The million dollar question is should Tom ditch the divorce now that he knows his wife is sick?! Answer: FUCK NOOOOOO! Many factors played a key role in my reasoning for divorce 1.) she cheated on him for 6 weeks 2.) she's been totally disrespectful towards him as well as towards her daughter (Rachel) 3.) when Tom tried communicating his thoughts/feelings she completely shut him out 4.) Tom has repeatedly asked her to see a doctor to seek help, she has vehemently decline doing this 5.) she has lied repeatedly for a year 6.) she willingly admits to Only fucking this Richard prick as a method of hurting & pissing off Tom, so why would any man in their right mind want to stay married to a deceitful, conniving, hurtful, spiteful downright bitch such as this whore? She might've been depressed but that doesn't extinguish her responsibilities, she went in with her eyes & legs (I may add) wide open so she doesn't get to say I was sick honey that's why I cheated on you & why I've been making life unbearable for the past year & a half. It's the same thing as criminals using mental defect in order not to pay for their actions. If she would've talked & listened to her husband she still would have her family but instead she chosed to argue & fight. I know women whose gone through post-partum depression after having a kid, none of them acted like this trick, they felt overwhelmed & was willing to air out what was bothering them they weren't defensive or making excuses. I think the husband is right for going for full custody because if the baby was left in her care she was liable to hurt that poor baby since she seemed to put the blame on the poor little thing, what type of mother dumps her kid at her in-laws just so she can go slutting it up? What type of mother calls her own baby a brat? She's sick, I don't doubt tom would've been there for her but after a year & a half of bullshit I don't think she's worth it, maybe if she didn't turn into such a whorish shrew he might've been able to overlook this "mistake" but the lack of respect, communication, love & caring has dissipated. My sympathy is a bit limited when it comes to this "wife" obviously her husband saw there was a serious problem & tried desperately to rectify it but he couldn't do it alone, Tom saw his marriage going down the crapper & he didn't know how to keep it from flushing, you can't save a marriage all by yourself you need the other party involved & this wife wasn't interested in participating... Yeah she was sick but whose fault is that? When I don't feel well I make a doctors appointment , when I'm feeling overwhelmed , out of it or depressed I talk to my husband & I make an appointment with my therapist, everyone feels a bit out there at times & desperately needs someone to talk to, sometimes it helps getting an outsiders view point, but this bitch choosed fucking around as a form of professional help. No I don't think he should stay with her now that he knows she was sick, he already knew something was wrong the only person who refused to listen to reasoning was the skank. I know the vows says for richer or poorer, sickness & health but it's not just him he has to worry about it he's got his daughter Rachel too, I personally think he's done his duty... Fuck her! Let some other fool deal with her mood swings & bitchyness..
please really... there are no evil bitches there are just women with issues.. really.. really that's the plot, wow pro feminist crap why not make the child a boy and have her fuck it and then have the man take her back i mean if your going for shock cuck value..hahaha this is the most sad predictable story.
Feminist clap trap waaaa i sick it wasn't me it was the one armed man hahahaaha oh god how stupid must you be to believe this shit,it the drugs or booze or drugs never the cunt or bastard hahaha the ultimate cop out..any rapist or murders use this in court it apparently gets you off and you can get off with this excuse haha, This kind of cunt you kill and anyone who supports her.
If you think chapter one was plausible without chapter two, then I am wondering what reality you live in. In chapter one, a woman cheats, gets caught and does nothing to save her marriage, then acts happy to have her husband walk out with their kid. If you think that is plausible without there being a psychological reason why a woman would do that, then I am wondering what kind of women you are around. I know plenty of woman, and not one of them would willingly allow their husband to walk out with their kid and say, "You can have the brat." If you know women like this, then I feel bad for you. In my opinion, for a person to be that detached from reality as she was on chapter one, then there has to be a reason like that which is stated in chapter two.
@javmor79 My collegue's grandmother deserted from their children in 1956 (Hungarian revolution). A Hungarian singer star's mother deserted her children.
Not every woman like children.............I reccomend Web_spinner's story "Rising From The Ashes" in the Romance hub.
interesting comments? like the Oprah, or Dr Phil really, not seen a wife act this way? In fact on Dr Phil, a couple with children, the wife lost weight, looked like early 20's instead of 30. Started partying with younger crowd.. sounds familiar, even declared wanted a divorce on national TV. psychological problems are everywhere, and this can be real, nobody talks about it.
She is just looking for the best excuses that will absolve her of any responsibility for destroying her family. I don't buy all the post par-tum depression crap, her changes began before the birth of their child so the post par-tum depression excuse does not apply. She is a self centered bitch that is looking for the best excuse for her behavior and the psychiatrist is giving it to her. It seems that now a days counselors and psychiatrists are doing all they can to fine a syndrome or mental illness to excuse peoples actions. It seems everyone has been physically or mentally abused and it is why the person acted the way they did. These people made choices let them live with the results without these stupid excuses. Over the years I have sat through many trials criminal and civil, and it was amazing how many of these people suddenly had mental issues they did not know about that caused them to do what ever they did. I gave this chapter a "2" because it was mainly bullshit.
sorry but you are changing the picture you painted
this wife is not the same one in chapter 1.
be fair.
don't change the rules part way through and expect us to just go along.
yes, I understand about post partum depression.
yes, I know she is in therapy.
but, her behaviour is not the way you described it in chapter 1.
I see we have a lot of doctors commenting here, as they seem so positive that Julie couldn't have depression prior to Rachael's birth or post natal depression afterwards. Soooo glad we have their E X P E R T opinions !!!!! Of course it can happen just as a person can be a drunk or junkie. Yes I agree with the comments that Julie seemed different through this chapter , but doesn't a drunk change as they rehab.
My big concern through both chapters is how will this affect Rachael, I guess she's about 12 - 15 months old now & really needs her mother, lucky Tom's mum is around to provide a loving woman's empathy.
Also remember the author hopefully knows where he's heading with this so lets give him the opportunity to finish it his way.
One other point I feel Tom actually grew a pair this chapter. 4****
Mental illness is just that an illness. It does not make people cheat on their spouses and it does not excuse it. A shitty character is what makes a person a cheater.
nicely done, but not nice situation. I do know that a woman's body chemistry changes after a birth, or so I've read, I guess their mentality changes too. it's a tough nut to swallow, but I do think that's the problem here. there is a similar story here about a woman's chemistry changing, causing the same thing, cant remember the author, but she refused to take hormones or meds, and the couple went through the same thing. personally
I'd try to keep her, because it's tough to find beauty and brains in the same package.
Mental Illness is just that. People can do all sorts of things that so called normal people don't see as rational behaviour because it's MENTAL illness. How many stories have we heard of women murdering their kids because of post-partum depression. I've seen it. It's not nice.
Now I don't know enough about PPD or psychosis to know if this story is plausible, but we'll see how it goes
she blamed the husband because the doctor told her that sex could cause a miscarriage. I guess that she is really stupid. I'm glad she doesn't work at my bank. She is actually too stupid and arrogant to breathe. She screwed around with someone else and didn't seem to worry about it hurting her. And that crap that every author on here has the bitches spew. It was only sex, it didn't mean anything, he isn't nearly as good a lover as you are, you are much bigger than him. I never climaxed with him. Okay, if all of that is true, why start and continue a relationship that would kill your marriage and you relationship with your kids if it is so unsatisfactory? It's all bullshit. Cheater's handbook. Evidently when a woman cheats in these stories she thinks that her husband will either forgive her anything because of this vast love he has for her special self or she thinks he is too stupid to find out or notice that she treats him like shit, won't touch him or talk to him and actually attacks him when they interact. Or she doesn't care enough to try to hide it. Now, she'll take his money, live in his home and have the security of his insurance and his protection but will return nothing to him in the way that a wife should. If they hate the husbands so much and the lovers are so much better, why not divorce the husband and move on or tell him and let him move on?
Didn't like it much, but hey, no one hits a home run every time. Still well written, but I sense a cuckold forgiveness coming on in the next two installments. Too bad, man should be allowed some sort of coping abilities in some of these stories. Maybe a little bit of pride left. Or not, pride seems to be a bad thing for a man to have here.
I'm probably repeating what some others have said, but granted she was sick, but how do you move from "be careful with sex late in your pregnancy" to "your husband wanting to have sex AFTER pregnancy is him trying to hurt you"?
And if she had ANY feelings for her husband or the "brat" (whose safety presumably STARTED all this!), she would have listened to him and got help BEFORE starting an affair!
And if sex was such a risky endeavor and had to be done so carefully, how could she be so wild with Richard? And what's with covering up when her husband walks in?
If Tom's wife didn't have one single lucid moment in over a year, I shudder to think what she did to Rachel when she and Rachel were home alone. The child would be covered in bruises and have a history of clumsiness and accidents. If, however, she did have lucid moments, though few and far between, Tom would not merely suspect, he would know his wife had medical/mental problems and would have dragged her screaming and kicking to a reputable therapist...if there is such a thing in reality. I contend that her actions were not indications she was sick. Her actions were her choices. Tom should follow through with the divorce, put Rachel first in his life, and put his wife in his rearview mirror. She *will* cheat again. And, no, she doesn't love Tom anymore, and hasn't since before Rachel was born.
2nd time through, and still have the same mentality about it. Would any guy kick a wife out if she had been drugged and used, some would, most wouldn't. she was drugged and used, but by her own body chemistry, and mind. Well that's what I see here. It's a great story, in showing how unknowing people react to this type of thing.
The way you wrote her behaviour, it was obvious something was very wrong with her.
I was set to read the rest of the story because you set it up well.
Until I read THIS :
""Alright. You set it up and let me know. But I have no intention of getting back with Julie after what she has done. I know the shrink will tell me why she did it and that she was sick, etc. but I don't care."
Just as important as the wedding vow of fidelity, is the promise to stick by each other in sickness and health.
In the amoralistic climate of the country today, with crooks and liars running for president and not having any consequences for breaking the law just because of political party, divorce rampant, progressives and a media emasculating husbands and fathers, it is a sad day when he KNOWS she is sick, but does not care and immediately files to break up the family.
I hope that this is a one off, or you are just portraying this one character this way, but if this is the way that you as the author feel, I won't be reading any more of you.
You might want to read the complete story before you reach a decision and judge a very good author, that too is a sign of the times, judging before knowing all the facts
I did not read all of it. It occurred to me, that perhaps this was just his initial knee jerk reaction.
So, I read it all.
I am sorry now that I did. I need to remember to trust my gut, it has not let me down yet.
Not only did he go through with the divorce and not keep his vow to stand by her in sickness, but
He waited TWO FUCKING years just to talk to her.
2 fucking years of playing musical house with the daughter. 2 fucking years before having a meal together. 2 fucking years of the daughter running out to the car .
Never sharing family meals, christmas time, in a place with mommy and daddy in the same room.
Disgusting behaviour from the get go. There was absolutely at no time when he did not know she was sick.
Yet instead of of staying with her like he vowed to do, once she was getting treatment and even getting better, he still went all the way with the divorce and shutting her out of his life, for 2 FUCKING years.
Not only do I stand by everything I said previously, but now I realize you are an idiot, dyon
An idiot am i ? i must be for even wanting to respond to your drivvel
Your name says DR ,am i allowed to doubt that very much ? You have strictly no idea of what it takes for treatment for this kind of diseases,do you know that clinics don't even allow contact with family the first 4-6 weeks ? If you read the story like you should have you should have noticed that the husband kept in touch with the psychiatrist and the woman was allowed regular visits to her daughter
Get over yourself DrSemblance and keep an open mind about things you obviously have no clue about
Psychobabble. Sick or just toxicly evil, doesn't matter. She deserves neither ex or her daughter. She was not capable of nurturing either. Try to flush her memory from your mind and heal yourself. Move on. Don't look back.
I have to agree with the posters below.

Where the hell was Rachel?
I can't figure out where the baby was when she was screwing Richard? If she was at the house, he'd have taken her. If she tried to foist her on the grandparents, they'd wonder at that. How did he know she was at a babysitter?
Had he already made arrangements for her to stay at his parents house? Did I miss something?

Continued
Now we know Julie had a mental imbalance which caused her to act like she did. But is that enough of an excuse to continue the marriage? We'll see...
Difficult to connect with Julie
Ch 01 was plausible. This psychological mumbo jumbo and the epiphany Julie had when Tom walked out is too much. Do people really behave this way?
Oh! piety me i've got the chemicals
please really... there are no evil bitches there are just women with issues.. really.. really that's the plot, wow pro feminist crap why not make the child a boy and have her fuck it and then have the man take her back i mean if your going for shock cuck value..hahaha this is the most sad predictable story.
Feminist clap trap
Feminist clap trap waaaa i sick it wasn't me it was the one armed man hahahaaha oh god how stupid must you be to believe this shit,it the drugs or booze or drugs never the cunt or bastard hahaha the ultimate cop out..any rapist or murders use this in court it apparently gets you off and you can get off with this excuse haha, This kind of cunt you kill and anyone who supports her.
ch 1 = 5; ch2= -5
Ch 1 is much like what happens in real life. Ch 2 is an Oprah & "Dr" Phil extravaganza: pure hokum.
Next time have the courage to be more realistic. And if my mom ever excused or tried to rationalize such behavior..... Well there's simply no words.
#2 CHEATERS MANTRA PAGE 1
showing and being caught is so much better that communication and a mental pix is worth what. TK U MLJ LV NV
Chapter one doesn't work without chapter two.
Not 100%
@javmor79 My collegue's grandmother deserted from their children in 1956 (Hungarian revolution). A Hungarian singer star's mother deserted her children.
Not every woman like children.............I reccomend Web_spinner's story "Rising From The Ashes" in the Romance hub.
great so far
interesting comments? like the Oprah, or Dr Phil really, not seen a wife act this way? In fact on Dr Phil, a couple with children, the wife lost weight, looked like early 20's instead of 30. Started partying with younger crowd.. sounds familiar, even declared wanted a divorce on national TV. psychological problems are everywhere, and this can be real, nobody talks about it.
self cuck hell to the fuckin no 1/5 stop writing
Just lame excuses for cheating.
Good again
Enjoyed it
Not sure if you intended to make the wife a more sympathetic character in this chapter, or not. I actually dislike her even more. Five stars.
interesting
Mental illness is just that an illness. It does not make people cheat on their spouses and it does not excuse it. A shitty character is what makes a person a cheater.
good story
nicely done, but not nice situation.
Re: Mental Illness
Mental Illness is just that. People can do all sorts of things that so called normal people don't see as rational behaviour because it's MENTAL illness. How many stories have we heard of women murdering their kids because of post-partum depression. I've seen it. It's not nice.
Now I don't know enough about PPD or psychosis to know if this story is plausible, but we'll see how it goes
She sounds more schizophrenic than PPD
Her rapid and complete change of personality at Tom's leaving and many of her behaviors pre and post partum would point to a schizophrenic diagnosis.
Even split personality would better explain her (seeming) sudden change.
Always mental problems,
she blamed the husband because the doctor told her that sex could cause a miscarriage.
THE REASON FOR OR WHY I DID IT
who cares, apparently she didn't. TK U MLJ LV NV
Hmmm....
Nuts, huh? Still not an excuse. Her husband kept telling her to seek help. So what did she do? Go out and fuck her boss. Let the divorce go through.
Okay, TC,
you've got the Epilogue to convince me RAAC is appropriate and/or I should read Julie's Story. Haven't we been hearing from her all along?
Thoughts
I'm probably repeating what some others have said, but granted she was sick, but how do you move from "be careful with sex late in your pregnancy" to "your husband wanting to have sex AFTER pregnancy is him trying to hurt you"?
And if she had ANY feelings for her husband or the "brat" (whose safety presumably STARTED all this!), she would have listened to him and got help BEFORE starting an affair!
And if sex was such a risky endeavor and had to be done so carefully, how could she be so wild with Richard? And what's with covering up when her husband walks in?
still depressing
sometimes alternating the he said she said can be helpful, but not so much when it is just a repetition of the same thing from a different voice.
No Lucid Moments In Over A Year?
Second time through...
An interesting direction.
good story
2nd time through, and still have the same mentality about it. Would any guy kick a wife out if she had been drugged and used, some would, most wouldn't. she was drugged and used, but by her own body chemistry, and mind. Well that's what I see here. It's a great story, in showing how unknowing people react to this type of thing.
It was good until...
@ DrSemblance
You might want to read the complete story before you reach a decision and judge a very good author, that too is a sign of the times, judging before knowing all the facts
Ok, you had a slight point.
@ DrSemblance
An idiot am i ? i must be for even wanting to respond to your drivvel
Your name says DR ,am i allowed to doubt that very much ? You have strictly no idea of what it takes for treatment for this kind of diseases,do you know that clinics don't even allow contact with family the first 4-6 weeks ? If you read the story like you should have you should have noticed that the husband kept in touch with the psychiatrist and the woman was allowed regular visits to her daughter
Get over yourself DrSemblance and keep an open mind about things you obviously have no clue about
just shaking my head
You really do have no clue do you?
You just want last word no matter how stupid it is...ok buddy
Go for it.. .let me have it.
I wont reply.
You can tell everyone that you showed me. I am so stupid and all.
just shaking head
Dr Semblance
Psychobabble. Sick or just toxicly evil, doesn't matter. She deserves neither ex or her daughter. She was not capable of nurturing either. Try to flush her memory from your mind and heal yourself. Move on. Don't look back.
more bull shit
this story was written by a man and he don' know shit about women.
