I've just read this story from beginning to end in one hit and enjoyed every bit of it. Beautifully written, well plotted, blessedly free from typos and substituted words (there instead of their, shear instead of sheer, and so on), and great characterisation.
Wine_Maker, I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the 'Lady in Blue' and I am looking forward to reading your other series, here on the Literotica site. I noticed that you haven't submitted any new work here in several years. I hope you are doing all right. If you have any other work e-published please email me a link.
I am impressed at the quality of your writing. You are fortunate that your word-processing program is compatible with the Literotica programs. Many authors and editors are blamed for the inability of their WP's to coherently mesh with this site's programming. In my opinion the basic flaw is the requirement that spellcheck programmers must be illiterate before being certified to write code.
As for the Separatists. I find their actions to be quite hypocritical and even blasphemous. As a historian, I understand their argument that they are the 'Ubermen' destined to rule over the rest of us two-legged cattle. Their predecessors were traitors a hundred and fifty years ago, they are traitors today and their successors will be traitors a hundred and fifty years from now. They just bring out the General William Tecumseh Sherman in me.
Then I realized that these 'Separatists' are foresworn oathbreakers. They all swore loyalty to the United States of America and they have all broken their oaths. Now I find myself channeling Cromwell and William of Orange and Gustavus Adolphus. As I get older and more cranky, I find it more difficult to control my temper at the murderous thugs who pretend to be patriots.
