I am not sure of exactly what happened except in ending three – the coma.
In ending one & ending two it appears that Barb’s plan to cheat is TIED to when the morning pills were purchased. However, the tape conversion: offers no definite answer.
D. "Barb, I was wondering how you paid for the pills?"
B. "Oh, my God, I put them on our credit card. I have to make sure Brian doesn't question it. I pay the bills but I will have to watch out for it.’
Ending one, the tape does not really SET the pill purchase to before the night of the sex session. Barb’s wording more indicates the purchase date was probably AFTER the fact that Barb used the credit card also leads to the idea that the pills were a necessity to cover pregnancy. ‘God, I'm glad we were able to get the morning after pills’ (not got). Barb had sex with guys in both 1 & 2, she really got drunk and let’s face it any married women with a good sex life will have trouble turning her body OFF before having sex, in that state. Why do men always push alcohol on the married wives, hell their husbands do the same when they get a chance. If it took place as ending ONE implied then Brian made the right decision (sex- yes – planned-no). Barb’s action was likely “one and done” event.
In ending two there is no doubt ‘in “the time line” because Brian saw the credit card bill ”I know you bought the morning after pills ahead of time.” Even though Brian talked to Darla she did not state a date but Darla& Barb had every intention of cheating in ending two because it was planned so divorce is the way to go.
Given what the story implies, another sister influences her happily married sister to screw-up which results in having a troubled marriage, like hers. Hell Darla may have added drugs to assist the alcohol. Brian has or had no suspicions or indications that Barb would cheat. I know the husband is the last to know but Barb is a stay home mother so her opportunities are limited and easy to monitor while looking for deviations. Remember drugs and alcohol has been used by other sisters to ruin their sister’s happy marriage. Darla planned to get ‘laid” in Vegas from the “get go” and talked Barb to go clubbing protect Darla but more likely to screw Barb up.
