The writing was so so, but the context of the story left a lot to be desired. Women being second class citizes is just too far fecthed. I feel that if the current Administration has their way, this story will become true to life and not just fiction.
First of all, it's a sci-fi story. It's futuristic and the world has changed a lot. 2nd, it is not about WOMEN becoming 2nd-class citizens. There is no sexist element to it. It's about "public enemies" becoming 2nd-class citizens, to an extent only slightly more severe than what happens to parolees today. And, last, given the number of stories where MEN become 2nd-class citizens, I don't see such a scenario as so far-fetched.
