One of your best qualities is not being predictable. Your heroes range the whole gamut of responses to infidelity. If a reader doesn't like the husband's response to a cheating wife, he only needs to wait a while for a new story which will probably be more to his liking. And that is the way life really is. Well, the ending was better than I expected. But overall, it doesn't salvage the series from being just another willing wimp/cuckold story.

And worse, it lacks the capacity to seem realistic enough for the reader to suspend disbelief and enjoy the fiction for being just that.

JPB, some of what you write is great stuff; some of it is just garbage. This series may be the only one which, as a set, falls somewhere in the middle.

This was well written. I like JPB's writing, it is just his subect matter really sucks usually. :-) But the writing is well done. A different slant to a common theme. Of course I agree that hubby is still a wimp but he was classified that the first time he let his wife fuck another guy with no repercussions.

But I have a question. Why do all these guys still love their wives after the wives fuck around on them? Or the wives still love their husbands? I don't see a desire for continued contact with someone who obviously has no interest in your well being as being particulary heathy, much less deserving of the appellation "love". About this series, I have mixed thoughts. I feel an emotional pain, and I'm trying to decide if I should allow myself to cry or not. Pretty much anytime there is emotional strife, it strikes a deep chord within me.

I think he did the right, albeit painful thing. I can't help but wonder what it is Penny has to say that could make everything "right". I always think about love and the relationship that's there. Something like that violates it in my mind.

Are we ever to find out what Penny had to say? Or will we be left to come up with our own conclusions?

At times he takes you to places that at least I, simply can not relate. While some stories are too odd or awkward, this one was more of the usual staff which I mentioned above. I don’t like it and can not relate to it. So why, one may ask, do I revisit JPB’s stories? It could be the very same source that brings other oddities to his stories, but one thing you can’t say about JPB. You can’t say that he is not original in his endless variations on his themes. So one CAN expect some surprises somewhere in his stories. And sometimes you get a winner, even if it’s “just” a brilliant element in a story, which otherwise with all honesty, I could do without. Best metaphor –DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH.
When the husband plays golf, and suddenly realizes that the lover did not hesitate in choosing the bathroom, that was just BRILLIANT! A turning point for the plot, which could equal to he best detective stories. Borrowed or not – I don’t care, in this place it was perfectly situated to shift the plot towards the resolution. Writer, PLEASE! Could we have one or two stories with this type of detective brilliance – mix it with any thing you want: I have not enjoyed such a surprise for a long time (could you take at least a short break from sexually humiliated husbands though?).
