This otherwise story would have been GREAT, except you nearly opened it with you slipping birth control pills into her morning drink. In such a fantasy, what is wrong with the niece gettting your baby stuck in her belly?

Hormonal birth control pills are effective after the first week, not the first month. And that's worst-case, with it starting in the middle of her cycle somewhere. If he knew when she'd just finished her period, she'd have been protected from day one. You blew my willing suspension of disbelief and threw me right out of the story.
