When someone tricks you, lies to you, breaks their promises to you, it is amazing how fast you can go from loving them, to hating them, to just being disgusted with them and wanting nothing to do with them. Ultimately, I think disgust is the opposite of love, not indifference or hate. It is similar to the feeling many have for criminals. You don't want to kill them, but you don't want them around either. In fact, perhaps these people really are criminals in the sense that they con their spouses, they steal time and money from their spouses, and they often are willing to be the cause of physical injury to their spouses. Perhaps adultery should be criminalized again.
...you don't let the other shoe(s) drop. Your actor simply departs. It's often frustrating for your faithful readers (I'm one) who wish some notion of consequences, varied though they may be. I wouldn't tie your hands on direction, but...social surgery is rarely so neatly practiced.
Finally, a real man in a story. He didn't care about the why, or excuses or anything else. She made her choice - for whatever reason - and now she must suffer the consequences of that choice. They both may lose something, but he is still a man and has his respect. No explanations needed.
she was forced into a compromising situation for the sake of the company. she had to trap her boss who was threatening to take away her job if she did not submit. and, and, and,
it was appearances and not what he thought he saw.
meh.
Ok, ok he didn't actually see Erin doing the nasty with her boss, but she had dinner with him, then they kissed & supposedly spent the night in Addison's room. Ok got it.
So Paul's pissed off & makes arrangements for divorce. Great I like it. She cheats ,she needs to pay. Even if all they did was " play monopoly ", she had to know it was dangerous as Paul had warned her several times his take on cheating, & going to dinner, kissing & spending the night IS cheating. 5*****
Two foolish, selfish people. "We decided we didn't want kids", then what the fuck is the point of being married? Just to have a stable sex partner? How long can a relationship last in the lover phase, or the spouse's before kids phase? There isn't enough meat on the bone to last for long. Kids are a natural part of the evolution of a marriage. They are what make to young selfish people grow into two people who learn to really love other people unconditionally. Sure, not all parents make this leap but most of them do learn about selfless love and become better people and spouses for it. This marriage had grown stale and dried up. That is why she cheated. They are both better off divorced. Maybe they will find someone to have kids with and grow up. She however will always carry the shame and dishonor of being a cheating whore of a wife.
Why didn't the wimp go for her jugular?! He's just going to give her the house?! What a fuckin' pussy!
ps : It would have fleshed out the story a bit if you'd described a little of how and why the cunt decided to cheat.
this one before. I like the timing on this and I like the fact that he didn't do the little Poindexter 7 layers of revenge that required him to live with her and watch her while she fucked her boss. Blackmail, menopause, fading looks, nothing is an excuse for infidelity. Anything out of the ordinary in the marriage or in the lives, personal or work, of the husband and wife need to be shared and discussed with the other spouse as soon after they happen or in a timely manner ahead of time so a discussion can take place before and not after. If she just wanted to fuck her boss, she should have given her husband a heads up and divorce him. There is no way you can fuck someone else and not hurt your family by doing so. If no other way than that you change yourself into someone incapable of providing the needs of that family. I see a part 2 and I don't remember how that turned out. It's good to have CRS sometimes. I can read the same stories over and over and they are mostly new each time. Seriously, good job on this one.
She already knew that he was concerned about their relationship and at least ACTED like she wanted to get it back on track, then, as soon as she felt that things were back on an even keel goes back to cheating, and openly lying.
What explanation could there possibly be, and as has been said before, what explanation would SHE accept?
some stories are just ok and others are like this one, well done.
It was a little short,,,,,
but it is well done and a joy to read. My compliments to a fine author. Saratu

And yes..
...that's even despite the 2 chapters here. :-)
Yeah!

I understand...
I understand him...nothing is worst than cheating, then lying and keep cheating...No remorse from her part...
What's the Point?

I can't believe that I haven't commented on

"Explain"
Why do they always want to "explain"?
She already knew that he was concerned about their relationship and at least ACTED like she wanted to get it back on track, then, as soon as she felt that things were back on an even keel goes back to cheating, and openly lying.

Had to read part two to find out that she was innocent.
She was a dumb bitch... did everything POSSIBLE to make herself LOOK guilty.
