Sometimes..

love is so blind that a man can't see the trees for the forest.

The superficial appearances of the outer wrapping; what's behind those glasses you'll never know. For if you look you'll see that fiery sparkle of a passion filled soul.

perhaps

he did not notice the diamond because the mud had yet to be weashed off.

How a person dresses speaks volumes, so does personal hygiene. I am sure I have missed out on a few diamonds because they were slobs.

I would rather wear silver than dirty gold--

beyond the personal observations, I just want to say that this poem is no where near the quality of what you usually submit. I have been accused of the same thing, many times.

Get to work, woman!! ;)

Intersting.... this poem is like another way of saying 'DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER' in a poitic way

Didn't say she was dirty or smelled bad just said her clothes were un attractive. Circumstances often dictate attire. I could tell you of circumstances that I was in that saw me looked down on. I had no control over those circumstance.
