Well Done

Short, sweet and to the point (well, I'm not sure about sweet) Thecelt is right: consequences are a bitch.

Rationalization can be just as

much of a bitch as the consequences it leads to.

Nice story, well written.

Short Story

Your text is well presented. But the site you posted to is Literotica, not a short story for misbehaving wives. The sex part leaves more than a lot to be desired. Guess you could do the 5 W's on the sex part. With that in mind....thanks for sharing your short story.

Very good loving wives story

A very well done loving wives story with the consequences that make up a real loving wives story. Not a slut of “Gee I love to share my wife as I’m not man enough for her needs story.” Or a wimp, “I love my wife so much I will give her anything she wants so I can still be with her. Or someone who hasn’t experienced real love and “Hell, I love her but not that much that it bothers me, she is really just my best friend with benefits.”Consequences are a bitch and they are what make a story so interesting as how they come about in each persons mind.Thank you for the entertainment and for your great effort in giving us stories to read.PT

Where is the Erotica?

Nothing whatsoever erotic about this sad tale of a man who can't bring himself to communicate with his wife and destroys his family in the process.

Consequences ARE a Bitch

This reads like another story out here, but I can't quite locate it right now, but it's very familiar. Because it's not a new idea, I give the story a 50 for lack of imagination. Technically, the writing is good and the characterization, dialogue, and otherwise very well done. Exactly why the commenter thinks rampant sex must be a part of every story astounds me. What does he think "literature," means. Surely he realizes from which the first part of this site's name comes?

Vasectomy = No Sperm

Just picking a nit here. You say, "Since his vasectomy, they needed no protection and the feeling of his sperm had triggered her own climax." If he had a vasectomy, there were no sperm, just semen, seminal fluid.

What gives?

She falls asleep on a couch and wakes up in bed with Wes? Is there a bed in her office? Or did he slip her a mickey - in which case this wasn't a fling, it was fucking rape.

I agree with Celt and not so much with the Anon's

Celt,

I liked the story. It wasn't over the top, it wasn't full of revenge and it wasn't really spitefull. The husband gave more chances than I personally would have, but that wasn't a failing on either the story or on the husbands part in the story.

So I liked it

But I find it funny one, the Anon poster that asked what husband did to Wes to get even and why did the husband give her most of thier stuff. To me it was simple, the husband wasn't broke so he only took his stuff, it would look better when he tried for custody of the kids, and he did it for the kids so they would have a familar place to live when they visited. This way the kids didn't see him as an Ogre. Two why mess with Wes? It took two too tango. If she wanted Wes then let her have him, just don't sit there waiting for her to get finished. And what would happen to the husband if he tried to get even with Wes? Most of the time it involves a Felony record and a new rap sheet. Is that worth it? Not to me, and obviously not to this character.

To me it's one thing to defend your family and most definatly your wife, if someone threatens them, but its something else to try and get your self respect back by beating up another man because your wife liked him better than you. We're not in 3rd grade here. So leaving the other person to there devices, and finding someone else who isn't willing to gamble with your life (with either diseases or because the other person might be a pycho) or is willing to remained devoted, is a much better idea

Second, the Anon that said something like "the husband should have communicated" at what point is it the other persons responsibilty to make you be honest? Do you know how many people are sorry After something negative happens to them? Divorce is real. Cheating is real. But do you know how many people cheat daily thinking "I won't get caught"?. Why does the husband owe his wife anything while she's playing with his emotions and his life? I can say this, your response was good for a smile out of me (^_^)

Thanks for the good story Celt

Brillant !!! Wife's Mindset VERY well done

This may be my all time FAVORITE story of Thecelt.

The reason for ME this story works... and this is JMHO so feel free to tell me I am fucking high if you like... is that this author REALLY does the wife's mindset and thought process really well and Most of the time that is NOT the case here at Lit.

How many times have we all read good LW stories only to wonder WHY the wife would do such a thing when the husband has NOT been cheating.... NOT over overworking
... NOT neglecting his wife emotionally? and of course that spoils the whole story.

For example in OHIO's infamous OHIO of CARDS... the wife has a 8 month affair that started as 1 nite stand... and the husband finds out from recordings that the wife claimed He - "the husband" - and the Marriage was always #1. Yet when the Husband got suspicous the wife STILL cheated and continued the affair EVEN FUCKING the other guy on their anniversary! These actions made the reconcilation Laughable.

In this case the wife motivations.... the rationalization that casual sex with another man for 4 months is not the same thing as an affair ... and absurd assertion but critical to the wife actions/ motiviation... is WHY this story works so well. And part where the the wife... who had become more sexually active than ever... was now giving Rick More sex... that it benefitted RICK... was really brillant.

thecelt delivers again

Superbly told by thecelt in his usual good style. Thank you for an intriguing tale. I very much appreciated the manner in which the wife thought she had everything under control but didn't. She thought Rick knew nothing of her affair, he knew from the get-go. She thought her cheating with Wes only at the office meant no one would find out. The PI got the goods on her anyway. The trip would be the perfect venue for plenty of sex with her lover except the thrill was gone.

thecelt does a great job of writing when he describes Judith's rapid change in fortunes. Her mood is jubilant before the trip, then cheerful when the bountiful sex with her lover turns out to be not quite what she imagined it would be, then worried as she returns to her empty house, and finally bleakly despairing as she sees the stark documentation of her affair and the end of marriage.

To those who wanted a stroke story and complained because this wasn't it, I'm sorry. The cuckolded wimp fantasies are on Aisle 9 right next to the puerile teenage masturbation stories.

Thanks again, celt, for a well-done look at cheating and its consequences.

Unfeeling and selfish husband

Since Rick knew that Judith was not going to be driunking the milkshake, Rick should have offered it to Pete. The fact that he did not shows what an uncaring bastard he was! No wonder Judith, starved for affection and recognition, fell into the lap of another!

Reality With Class - KUDO's Author

You can't possibly know how welcome your stories of marital consequence are. You bring home in a clear manner that which some others play with in an illogical way.

It is their right but a marital failure rate of nearly 50% indicates that most peoples tolerance level wouldn't permit them to stomach more than one infidelity and sometimes not even one.

Humans are a prideful species wherein respect plays the most significant role in any relationship with trust closely following. When each is bruised or broken a normal human reaction is disgust both at the offender and them-self for making such a poor choice in a lifelong mate.

Here you painted this so very well in the depths of her selfish justification and the resulting consequence which any rational person knew would come - eventually.

When exclusivity and closeness are altered by a selfish spouse there is an undercurrent which affects each member of their family as their relationships change slowly and almost imperceivably until the erosion is evident to each.

By then on average it is usually too late to fix it although each might like to resurrect the pride in each others respect and self respect

Author, you bring that home realistically in several pages especially for those of us who have suffered through it. Respect, fairness, reality and consequence are part of everyday life but never so more important than in the accepted risk of marriage.

With Very High Regard

A Victim of self-delusion

It is refreshing to read a story with consequences from a women’s point of view. This story set the proper tone, pacing and pathos that make it a model for many to come after it.

Another Sad but Realistic Story

My only objection is that Rick should go for custody of the boys, in fact, since she has such a high paying job, he should get child support and alimony and have primary custody. She should move out, not him.

I didnt think it was great

I guess Im in the minority here. I didnt think the wife's thoughts and internal monologues in the time leading up to the plane were realistic. I dont think she could have been so delusional as to believe she loved her husband so deeply while totally ignoring her own behavior. People can and do convince themselves of some pretty weird stuff in order to justify their own actions but only a person with some serious mental problems could be this out of touch with reality.

I also dont much care for the way you left off. Wife gets everything and loses nothing (losing her husband isnt really much of a blow to her since she didnt give a shit about him). Husband depressed and living alone in a lonely apartment. No follow through to show what happened with their lives after the divorce. Did he find someone worthwhile to love? Did she give up her stupid self-delusions about loving her husband/family?

I guess it all just falls apart for me because I dont believe the wife at all. You set me up with her own thoughts telling us one thing and then finding out she was some kind of multiple personality or something. If she was lying about loving her life and family (which I believe), then there is no consequences in this story. Her husband just faded away into the night and left her everything. She will feel a bit sorry for herself because she cant portray the woman who has it all to her friends and coworkers anymore but thats not much of a loss in the grand scheme of things.

Even though I spend a lot of time telling you what I didnt like, there was still some good stuff in the story though. The end of the marriage was good with the husband not trying too hard to delude himself after he recognizes how shallow her feelings for him really are. The lack of her sitting around crying for years over how stupid she was and how much she really loved her husband (thats just revisionist history on the part of the cheater who wants to tell themselves they arent a bad person).

Even though I dont think it really fits as a consequences story given the lack of follow-through (or even implied consequences for anyone other than the husband if we fill in the blanks ourselves), it was still a good story. Thanks again for writing.

It hard to say!

Celt, I think that I agree with a lot that Average Joe has to say. But first, let me say that, as always, the story was well written. You are a gifted story-teller.----------

Average Joe was right about the wife really suffering no consequences if...and it is a BIG IF...she did not really love her husband. She was not only delusional about her affair, she manifested all of the characteristics of one who is completely self-absorbed and narcisistic. She suffered no real adverse consequence. Only her husband did. She will find another man as quickly as she wants to.----------

If, however, and this is also a BIG IF, she really did love her husband, then there are potential consequences. Assuming that she did love him, there is a possibility for reconciliation, and room for more story-telling. It would be interesting to read about the road they followed in either achieving, or attempting, reconciliation.--------

In either event, but especially in the latter case, I hope that you will consider an addditional chapter, or an eiplogue. Sometimes a potentially really good longer story is truncated in order to accommodate a pre-determined format. In this case the story should dictate the length. Especailly when, as in this case, the author is one of those outstanding authors who can do justice to a longer story.

Cheers!

If I wanted to read a boring "Dear Jane" letter, I wouldn't be cruising literotica. I mean, like, man, where's the erotic? Two idiots having non-stop (and undescribed) sex in a hotel? That's etotic? If you want to write a soap opera, try NBC.

Consequences, yeah.

Judith did suffer consequences, but they weren't nearly dire enough. Despite thecelt's portrayal of Judith, she got off pretty lightly. Sure she had vowed to herself that she'd never fuck around again after the San Diego trip, but she had already gotten her jollies by then. Judith is depicted as a very beautiful woman, and though she is not a nymphomaniac, she won't have any trouble getting laid should she want. This story illustrates the inherent inequity of the situation of a woman cheating on her husband: she gets sexual satisfaction, plus the bonus of being single again and being free to fuck around as much as she wants, while he becomes a broken man with jack-shit to show for everything. Sure their marriage produced some happy years and wonderful children, but he's out a wife, a woman on whom he can depend. The husband always gets a raw deal in this situation. It's up to him if he later wants to date again and seek female companionship. That's not even mentioning that she'll likely gain custody of the children despite being a slut. This story epitomizes the plight of the cuckold getting truly fucked over.I see the point thecelt was trying to make with this story. But in the end, if the only consequences she suffers is figuratively hearing him declare "Tough shit, toots. You lost a good man.", then she doesn't really suffer much. In all likelihood, she'll just easily get herself laid the next time she feels horny. Although, thecelt tried to depict Judith in the end as a woman who's learned her lesson the hard way, it wouldn't surprise me if she started fucking guys not long after the final paragraph of this story.

One more thing.

Oops! I forgot to add that I liked the mention of Spalding Investigations. While not a full-blown crossover, I wonder if thecelt will one day write corresponding stories: one a "TT Spalding" story told from the perspectives of the PIs and the other a "Consequences" story told from the perspective of the cuckolded husband. I'm sure thecelt is capable of pulling it off, it's just uncertain whether he'll ever do it or even want to do it. I, for one, would enjoy reading them.

Well written, with questions

First, extremely well written. You are a gifted writer and story teller. This was both well written and a good story. I believe you intended it as a "morality play." You were attempting to show the consequences of her actions. You succeeded, but as some other commentators have stated, in the story and our society those consequences weren't that high. She lost a man she claimed to love, but intentionally messed around on. She lost full time access to her children and will suffer the guilt of dealing with their problems through the divorce process, but, again, she wasn't all that concerned about them as she was staying late to fool around and taking 3 days away to fool around. She lost her spouse, but based on your description of her and her cold calculating nature, it won't take her long to find another. In short, the "consequences" were far more on the husband, losing his home, the spouse he loves and dealing with the children's problems through the divorce process, then the wife. Perhaps that was your intent...

Neat, complete

Thoughtless, selfish and foolish Judith got everything she deserves, and broke four hearts while she was at it. A study of any three of your "consequences" stories should be compulsory material during the pre marriage counselling process

Consequences of Judith

It seems to me that this story has different meaning to the different people that read it. The only one I disagree with is the one person that slammed the husband. He did everything possible to save the marriage by giving her a chance to stop the affair. I wonder what he would have done if she had agreed at the last request for her not to go on the trip, would Rick have stayed and tried to work it out or would he have left her anyway.
To me she got so caught up in her project and than her affair that she missed all of the signs that the husband was aware of what she was doing and the affect it was having on his feelings towards her. He showed it in how he looked, spoke, and physical nearness and at the end sexual relations and she was so wrapped up in her work and affair she did not recognize what was happening. I assume she was the one that failed to understand that things are found out no matter how well a person tries to hide them. My belief is the husband would have come to the same conclusion over time just because of the way she was acting.
If there is any outcome worse than the divorce it is with the children, some day they will understand it was their mother’s fault that they grew up without a father living in their house or a fulltime father to help them as they grew up. This happened in my life and even though I am in my 60’s I still remember the anger and disappointment towards the situation.

wtf?

Where do people get off thinking the husband is a loser? This shit happened to my older brother in the fifties and he took the 4 kids and became a playboy. After getting his fill of lots of women he quit playing around and is now retired living with a woman he's loved for 42 years. Of course it helped that he is very good looking. Thank God for good genes. As for consequences to Judith. She will probably see her husband running around with much younger females. That's usually what happens. She can get laid , but love is not gonna be in the equation. Unless it's with an old fart. Keep em coming, Luis

I Love This Series!

It brings home the reality of cheating that many other stories on this site make into a cartoon. Rick knew what he wanted out of life because he was a mature adult. When he found out that Judith did not want to share his life as they agreed to and that the first time was not just a mistake he took action to separate himself from a cancer to his soul. That is the choice - to be true to yourself or not. This story was short and to the point so thank you for no whining or self-loathing or denial by the betrayed spouse.___________________________________________ _______
I did find some of the comments interesting. _________ Someone asked why did she do it? You laid out the reasons beautifully through her musings - She thought that she could get away with it! She loved the strange cock and the drama of cheating! She thought that she deserved it!_______________________________________________ _______
Someone commented that there were no consequences for Judith. Of course she can get a man to fuck her but in 10 years (she will be mid-50s)who is going to love her like Rick? In ten years how will her sons feel about her when they realize what happened to their happy home? How will her friends and family feel about her? Let's face it if it was important to her to keep her affair secret she would have not gone to the lengths to keep people from knowing about it. Disclosure of the affair may result in her losing her job since it involves image. Lastly, she can not be financially better off (note Rick did not give her the house only allowed her to live there)._
________________________________________ __________________
I found so many truths in this story. A friend who recognized the value of what she had at home. Judith's acknowledgement that Rick did not come first in her life. Her arrogance revealed where she believed that she was in control. Judith's silly plea for another chance when Rick had given her so many chances to confess and turn away from her harmful behavior. Rick did not try to harm or get revenge on the mother of his children. He did not attack her lover since they were both guilty and she chose to be with Wes.____________
Once again an outstanding story - Thanks!_________________

Between Risq and Average-Joe

Obviously there were consequences, but they were suffered by Rick: he lost his wife, kids, house and self respect.

The wife got everything except Rick. I do not agree with Average-Joe that she did not give a shit about him. I think she gave a lot of shit about or on him.

I think Risq thought Rick got the kids. I did not understand that from his letter. He gave her the house so his kids would live in it not visit it. He could have tried to keep it if he wanted them to live in it rather than a tiny two-bedroom apartment that could not fit his bed and desk.

Not bad though.

There are enough bad consequences for both…

1. From many comments it is clear that there is a common understanding that at least one basic assumption of the story (maybe the whole series) needs some substantial revision. Regardless of how cut and clear it might be at times on whose shoulders lies the responsibility for the breakup of the marriage, the consequences may be distributed between both partners, sometimes with no regard to said responsibility/guilt. It’s unfair; unjust -it sucks! I believe that that’s part of the secret of the tremendous attraction of this genre. For many, I believe, it serves as an emotional equalizer to the harsh reality. If one could fault this story for anything, it would be for not fulfilling the emotional need I mentioned, and for being, strange as it may sound, “too true” to the reality.
2. I did find however an important front, fully imbedded in reality, which the husband character could have pursued in the name of both justice and consequences. I am referring to the unexplained lack of reaction by the husband on the seducer. The fact that it was done at the work place is essential here. In today’s work place it is a reality that a policy of non- fraternizing (especially when married people are involved) is strictly enforced. For example, when an official learned that Les has substituted the other employees red lights should have appeared at HR. Additionally, all employees should have been aware of the non fraternizing clause (usually by signing a on a document).
At the least, Less should have suffered some consequences to his part in the affair. There is no doubt in my mind that through the grape vine, or simply by putting one and one together (had one or the two of them been fired) people would have learned what have happened. But that is too part of the consequences. I can’t see why the husband should have protected her and maybe missed an opportunity to receive compensation from her work place for emotional suffering and any other relevant legal clause.
3. Finally I would like to try and clarify the question which many comments were pondering: How could the wife love her husband and at the same time cheat on him. Since the story is told from her perspective, I can see the reason for the confusion. I just want to compliment the author for his intuition, sensitivity and understanding which came together to bring a very compelling and, again, true to life (if disturbing and upsetting) depiction of a woman who cheated. As it happens, she is very close to the profile of the typical cheater. Yes, there is such a thing.
Not unlike children, we do not suspect their love of their parents even when they behave in a very self centered and admittedly thoughtless manner. It is understood that due to their developmental stage, they are incapable, yet, of mature love, which would include being considerate for other peoples’ needs, predicting developments and choosing course of action which would not harm your loved ones despite the temptation to take that course of action etc. These are complex mental and emotional skills which only as people mature they MAY be able to acquire, after many trials and errors. From my emphasis on the word ‘may’ you can see that I am leading to the not so surprising observation that quite a few adults, and for variety of reasons, do not achieve this emotional maturity. Their love on the outside (language and mannerisms) may look initially like any others. But over time, one inevitably finds out these people’s limitations. They have not integrated the whole equation of their need and wants with the means ways and…consequences. It is very easy for them to compartmentalize reality, as reality could be very overwhelming to them (too complex to have a coherent code of behavior). It does not mean that they are psychotic (as some suggested delusions), but it does mean that they experience a lot of guilt and confusion as they are aware of the incoherencies in their behaviors. That is also the reason why a woman like the wife in the story can not get off the hook with claims about difficult childhood. Guess what? Welcome to the club. Life is hard, and she could have used –for example, her internal warning – as initial clues. Even if she did not fully understand what they meant, she knew that something was wrong. With that she should have looked for professional help, which she did not. Unfortunately, this lack of action is also typical because the typical cheater being self centered does not have a lot of time and energy invested in empathizing with other people or in predicting consequences. Ironically, once they have a traumatic event (when every thing falls apart) which shakes them out of their protective defenses, and they experience the same pain that they cause to others, quite a few grasp the opportunity to learn and grow. Unfortunately, the beneficiaries of this change and growth are many times not the people who were mostly hurt by them…

Sorry for the name confusion

Unlike the characters in the story, I maybe partially demented, as I meant to indicate the name of the lover as Wes, and not as the strange versions I have put instead…

Again

These are wonderful stories. Let me voice my plea for the continuation of this series. There are other consequences other than the disolution of a marriage. You are such a masterful story teller. Give us one from the perspective of the child who has to grow up in a broken home and what that as meant to his self esteem, mental stability, view of the opposite sex, etc. They provide a real lesson to anyone who thinks it's just sex.

Typical

I am starting to wonder just what does a woman have to do in the Celt's universe to actually lose something. She's still in possession of job, house and kids. What did she lose? THE MAN SHE DID NOT LIKE,RESPECT OR WANT (sexually). Plus, Rick is keeping her "dirty secret" from the kids. Does anyone who read this tale, really think she'll be totally, no-spin honest with the kids when the time comes (the Author wrote the character as a liar, not me)? Sheesh, this is nearly as far-fetched as "Almost"!

We enjoy this series- thank you!

However, could you create one with the wife actually suffering some combination of emotional & financial consequences? As some comments have indicated, the wife dishes out some serious disrespect and gets off pretty well. No revenge on the either the slutwife or the slime that seduced the female. Thanks again, for your efforts.

anti climactic

she made the choice to carry on and lost. for her, she is likely to go, with the greater sense of her loss. she too, may even be find herself on the receiving end of the angst. he moves forward and she has a few 'what if's' as she goes forward.

4Real

Yep, that's what I might have done too. To take her kids away would probably be amongst the most hurtful things you can do to a mother. But if she was a good mother there would have to be a solution later of course. The only thing missing is what that other prick should get. Sometimes they get off too f*ng easy for my taste, but that's also real life. Most off us gets so f*ng tired finding something like this out that we just have to take care of the 'things' closest to our hearts first. But in time karma strikes back I believe, what goes around goes around. Cheers Yoron.

I don't get it

Why does the husband want the adulteress to be the primary caregiver for his children? I would fight tooth and nail to protect my children from the total lack of morals this woman would instill in them. Another thing, why does the husband always want to give the cheating wife a much more generous settlement even with proof of her infidelity? If a man cheats and gets caught more often than not he looses much more than a cheating wife.
