Mixed Emotions!
I have mixed emotions about this story. The first time I read it, I was hoping for another chapter where the wife would be "burned" big time. I just read a sequel by another author where exactly that happened. That story wasn't as satisfying because the second author slightly changed some of the basic traits of the two main characters to make his retribution piece work, in my opinion anyway. On the other hand, in the Celt's story, the wife and the husband were in a rough patch and they were separated when the wife's indiscretion occurred. Those times can be awfully tough to work through for either the husband or the wife. Yeah, they might have still been married but sometimes stuff happens and actions are taken that are very much regretted later. The Celt has given us many stories where the cheating wife is "so" destroyed by the "consequences" of her actions, that I as a reader sometimes feel sorry for them. But in those stories, I also often agree with all of the "lw nazis" and "burners" etc. that the cheating wife has to go down! To me, this story is different. The wife knew that she screwed up and was able to use the circumstances that presented themselves to put it behind her and save her marriage. Sure, there are still questions. e.g. Will the lover forever keep his mouth shut? Will the husband find out about the tryst some other way? Will the wife make another mistake down the road? Will she decide to come clean at some point herself and what impact will that have on the marriage? In this story the Celt presents the wife to us as someone who regrets her actions, who loves her husband, and who wants very much to save her marriage. More power to her! Sometimes in these stories saving the marriage is not the worst answer. Anyway, these are just my thoughts! I enjoy the Celt's stories!
The wife's bit at the end
is why I don't think I will ever marry. In life, men use clubs and women use knives. Men are more direct than women when they have issues. If they cheat it is usually because they are thinking with their dick. A woman can get her revenge and not let the target know she did anything. Be it sabotaging a friend's evening out over an argument, or cheating on a husband/boyfriend over some slight. She does not have to tell him, just the thought of what she can get away with and how easy it is to get a man to fuck is enough revenge for her without letting her man know.
If I ever married I know my wife would be cheating on me, even if I could not prove anything, as there is no way to not eventually piss off her wife. Eventually she will find time for a quick fuck to keep her warm at night whenever she needs to humiliate her man in her mind while she is arguing with him or something.
I always feel sorry for the dumb guy in these stories as he is the one to be made to feel guilty, at his wife's instigation, so she can keep her vengeance porn in her head. He suffers his entire marriage with this selfish hell-bitch who cares about her marriage but thinks of him with no more respect than she has for her poodle.
Yes. I hate women. I hate them because they are selfish, wretched things only concerned with status. They want the alpha males to fuck and the beta males to raise the alpha's kids. And I hate them because momma nature has programmed me to love and pursue these monsters or suffer alone in misery. Homosexuality must be genetic, because I would go gay in a second if I could stand it.
Right woman wrong man, a slut is a slut, and a
cheater is a cheater. Be it one time or a hundred once you cheat you are a cheater.
Don't the haters ever get tired?
The least they could do is make an original comment. I suppose they've never gotten over being dumped... judging from their attitude their wife made a smart move
Very smply put, women who love their husbands
dont cheat. Only women who hate their husbands cheat. She fucked a person from work, she not only cheated she was a whore. And the poor sap remains her paycheck and her lifestyle and he remains her cuck. The bitch needs to be removed.
I guess haters dont like cheating wives,
Call me a hater. Women who place themselves, their spouse, their marriage, and their familyin harms way are the real haters. They hate themselves and their spouse. The woman in this story is a manipulative shrew that even Shakespeare would enjoy crucifying.
Selfish
Selfish B*tch! She owes him an explanation at the least. Her punishment is having to live with what she did ( not tell him the true ) ... oh come on ... you can do better than this! She suffers NOTHING by keeping the her adulterous actions to her self ... and she will cheat again unless she come clean .. that a FACT!
What bothers me is...
the secret and the sneer. This comment is for the commentators that somewhat justify her actions. The affair was bad. But maybe he would have forgiven it if he knew all of the facts. But he had the right to know. A marriage isn't a marriage if one spouse keeps a secret like that. More bothersome was the sneer that went with the secret. The whole picture doesn't look like love to me but who knows?
good writer --poor story
Sorry, I did not like the story. I'm tired of cliche of husband drnking himself into a stupor and for a man who writes consequences
stories, wife cheating and getting away with it is not very attractive.
60 year old george
ok.
real nice story. she is a cheating bitch. ok.
Disservice
The 8th step comes before the 9th and the 8th step includes becoming willing to make amends to them all. Usually it takes us drunks a while to become willing to make amends to people we think deserve what they got. The spiritual condition of a newly sober alcoholic in my observation and experience takes a while to come to grips with the "becoming willing to make amends to them all."
I cannot imagine being sober almost 6 months and not hearing the ninth step discussed in depth. The 9th step has absolutely nothing to do with "confession" or apologizing or getting something off your chest. Jerry's view of the 9th step could only be written by someone with almost zero experience with working a 12-step program.
I have not mentioned 'sponsorship' which would have likely eliminated the problem and thereby destroyed the premise for the story. Enough said about that.
The telling fact in the story that explains the total cluster fuck referred to as the 9th step in this story is 3 months in treatment. IMNSHO Treatment is responsible for the success rate of recovery dropping from an estimated 3 out of 4 (50% never found it necessary to drink again and 25% went out and tried it again) to the current 1 in 36. (IMNSHO = In My Not So Humble Opinion)
AA principles are massively violated in "treatment." All the social worker bullshit that didn't work before AA is back in full force. A non alcoholic 'knows' about as much what it feels like to be an alcoholic, both drinking and stopped, as a man know what it feels like to have a baby.
The result of the 12 steps of AA is a spiritual awakening. Look it up; it's right there in step 12. Treatment skews the steps to achieve some sort of psychological result. It is no surprise that treatment does not work as it is attempted. Start with asking some treatment provider, "What are you treating?" Get ready for the blank looks and vague answers such as 'alcoholism.'
Another distinct difference in AA and treatment is simple: the purpose of AA is stop drinking and help other alcoholics achieve sobrietyl while the purpose of treatment is to make money. When insurance stopped paying for long term treatment, miraculously the needed time for treatment shrink to fit the payment provided by insurance.
The assholes who don't know the difference between spirit and religion have are also big time ;mischief makers. A spititual awakening is an awakening of the spirit -- the spirit having been put in a coma by chronic alcoholic drinking. The steps impact this asleepness and creates an invironment conducive to making smart decisions related to taking a drink if beverage alcohol causes trouble for the imbider.
There is a lot more to be said, but what the hell, this won't get read. LOL

I hated the ending.
Once a cheater, ALWAYS a cheater. I wonder who's kid she's carrying?
Janet is a very nice wife.
She did right. However, her drunk of a husband deserves to be cheated on.
This was
One of the worst stories I've ever read.
dont know what to say.
I like the author but this story was way below the belt. TRUST is an important factor in marriage and a wife cheats on her husband and then lies in this manner when she is caught and the poor husband believes her. Dont agree with this at all. Makes the cheater look like an Einstein for being so intelligent and getting away with it and the poor trusting husband looks like a loser when his only fault was that he trusts the woman he loves. Gives love a real bad name this one.
Will do it again
Cheating whore will do it again and get a fucking DNA test for the little bastard.
Forgot to mention that every time the fuck buddy sees husband he will look at him with contempt and wife will share intimate secret - maybe even a smile about the TWO hour fucking the cunt got.
Loved it
Brilliant! Five stars. What an amazing little story.
Damn
When one spouse holds a secret about cheating over the other, the marriage suffers. She's not sorry she did it. She hopes her husband never finds out. Worthless whore.
Seriously?
How in the world can he not see the contempt on her face and the smirk in her smile? She claims a moment of worry, then everything is alright when she realizes that he only knows what the drunk told him, not what really happened. And since she has gotten away with it for so long, it didn't happen and she's not remorseful at all. What's gonna happen when he runs into Brian one of these days and gets asked how they are doing now that they are back together. And how Brian was glad that the one time he fucked Paul's wife was evidently alright with Paul because he moved back home from their separation and forgave the bitch for cheating. That should confuse him, along with the fact that "his" baby is half black. Wow, how about that whacky world of genetics? But she loves him more than peanut butter, especially with all those big bonus checks he gets when he travels. Maybe, if things work out, she can give him a white baby next time, hopefully.
To all the RAAC's
Can;t you see that she is keeping her secret NOT because she loves her husband but because she's a bitch who cannot help but have contempt for hubby because he is so clueless? And all of you are backing up her lying which proves that you are low-lifes just as SHE is! That's why you say "Oh, haven't you made mistakes? Just forgive her already!" I honestly believe that you say that because you want to leave a doorway open for some possible future time when YOU decide to cheat (if you aren't already) and you want a free pass. The bitch is a liar and a cheat and no whitewashing will change that! I don't hate you RAAC's, I just feel sorry for you because you call anyone a hater who doesn't automatically reconcile with a cheater.
I MIGHT Have More Sympathy For Her...
I MIGHT have more sympathy for her if she wasn't looking at him with contempt when she came to pick him up. It shows a real lack of respect that's probably going to come back to haunt them in the future.
Second time through...
A fun twist at the end.
i believe the husband is at fault here... let me explain, then shoot me.
You see, i too agree that the woman is manipulative, Heartless & cold , why, i dont know, but why the husband is at fault i can explain.
Life is a Myriad of probabilities, & one of the prime laws of all civilized societies is to abhor violence, not because violence is bad, but violence does not give valid answers. You may satiate your revenge but you may never learn how to prevent it from happening to you or anyone else in the future, plus an eye for an eye leaves the world blind, & yada yada,
enough about my philosophy behind blaming the husband & let me get you up to speed now,
A person who is trained to kill, knows death is the ultimate "no turning back" his ability to kill the last thing he would use, this story just goes to show us that, he had a golden opportunity, just to ask his wife her truth, all he had to do was say "Dear janet, jerry here has been telling me a very sordid story of what happened at my home during my trip to japan, all i would ask is this is your only & last chance to tell me everything, if you lie, the deceision will be swift, if you really want me in your life this your final chance, the truth now"
no doubt she would have tried to deny, but with sufficient pressure during a single phone call she would also have caved & atleast admitted to the affair, if she is as manupilative she is, she would never admit about brian, but would never let jerry go free, No matter what the cost.
but thats not imp, if he had the patience to find out the truth before going half cocked he would have atleast learnt A truth which would justify his divorce, so hence i believe that he has to live with manipulative wife since he lacked the patience to get to the bottom of things, if you love somebody, how can you claim to hate them without thoroughly exhausting every method to find out the truth,
This tells me 2 things, either he was always expecting this to happen(may be he was insecure, just as jerry is about to confess Paul asks his not say it, & says he forgives him, it shows, he rather be in denial ) or he is just another damn alcoholic just looking for an excuse to piss beer
So now you see the points i laid down, you tell me, she lied to him the moment she saw the opportunity, but who did give her the opportunity?
If you act in anger. you are bound to strike you ownself, in this case his anger severely clouded his judgement & allowing janet to come out unscathed. was it wrong of janet to seize an opportunity? hell yeah, that shows her opportunistic nature, would her husband been better if he knew the truth? not at first, but the truth would allow him to make his own decision rather than be sheltered in a web of lies. so now that i have laid it out as to why the husband Paul is at fault, you too have a choice either learn from the pitfalls of life & this story & smile, or just pull the trigger on me..... that is the choice
i wrote a long ass comment as i really felt bad about a low score on this story, when in fact it is written well & is a very good short too
Wow!
Who is the father of the kid she's carrying?
Ok writing but not your usual.
Janet was totally unsympathetic and I only want her to burn in hell with fucking crotch rot!
She doesn't really love her husband as deeply as he deserves and is a selfish bitch worried more about what she wants than what is good for her husband.
Jerry was a funny plot device though.
I would love a sequel where the hard working and faithful husband finds the truth.
A little disappointed with this one.
Skank
I hate cheaters
