Two losers, lost in themselves.

She had an affair with a young man because he said she was beautiful. He had an affair because she had one. Imagine for a minute her going to a formal party in a very sexy dress and ten men telling her she was beautiful and sexy, wow, with her reasoning can you imagine the gangbang that night? Ah dear, this young woman is throwing herself at me and wants sex, but I tell her no, do you think I can have a pass and do all the things with her you wont do with me? I would say they deserve to divorce but as dumb as they are they actually deserve to stay together and take the suffering.

I really can't figure out what planet some of you authors live on. No one you've ever met in your entire life behaves this way... so why do you write it?????

Interesting male POV

"She knows what she did was wrong."

But he never said "I know what I did was wrong."

Meanwhile I see that the usual idiots have commented also.

WHY the husband does not NEED to apologize

The fault is almost enitrely the wife's. This is a good story but flawed and needs a re-write

The reason why HE does NOT say "I know what I did was wrong" is because he does not NEED to. His affair which by any definition is wrong (affairs are not the same ting as an open marriage) only came about b/c SHE cheated first. His was a reaction to hers.

The marital dynamic does not REQUIRE an apology since the huband's affair is a wrongful act that was triggered by HER wrongful act.

SHOULD the husband apologize? Yes and in a indirect way he has. That being said its clear that the obtuse poster of Interesting POV has no clue.

How does this marriage survive?. Men NOT being emotionally advanced as woman use the sex for emotional connection to a much greater degree than womne. So she is out fucking someone in their mid 20s with a bigger coock more stamina and doing all sort of things she has denied her husabnd for 25 years.

Let me be clear. A Husband does NOT own a wife. She does not ever NEED to do EVERYTHING he wants sexually. She does not NEED to do ANYTHING he wants sexually. The way I read this story the husband is stunned by the fact that he could not do all those sexual acts with his wife b/c she said for 25 years NO way

It is strongly implied in the story that for the 1st 10+ years of the marriage he probably wanted to try all or some of those "other sexual things" for many years in their marriage and she constantly said NO.... even if some part of her said well maybe ...

BUT that is why he and most men get comfortable... into a rut. Sexually she wont tell him what she REALLY wnats in the bedroom. So rather than rock the boat after 12 or 15 or 18 years of marriage the husband says "whatever" and gives up trying to get his wife to chnage her mind.

Her cheating is a total rejection of him.... all she had to was ASK..."honey lets try something new" . IF in the story she has asked and he said NO or if He was ignoring her or abusive etc then there could be extenutating circumstances.

But that is NOT what has happened here. This marriage is over... and I am certain that within several weeks the wife will get the wrong message by the fact that he so easily accepted her cheating...

.... hey maybe he gets off on it ... maybe I should do it agagn... maybe he is a wimp.

In the real world this marriage is so fucking over

So let me see if I understand...

So let me see if I understand...if a husband ignores his wife or takes her for granted (especially after 25 years of marriage) he will give her a pass if she fucks a young man (or twenty) because after all he said she was pretty. She needed that ego boost, and so she also did with him all those things she had denied him through the marriage because SHE WAS SCARED OF LOOSING THE YOUNG STUD... but hey, no problem cuz now I am a slut and have the experience to try them with you. Yes, yes my love it's going to take a lot of work to keep us together. So which do you want first, a suck or anal?

In real life all marriages go through what this author calls "benign neglect." There are mortgages to pay, children to take care of, problems to solve, so at times passion takes the back burner. What we didn't realize was that at those times we could go and fuck out of the marriage. Who knew? Now where did I put that slutty red dress and my stiletto heels?

A very well done Loving WIves & comments to ponder

I will not, and no one can comment on why this woman strayed as there are no real deep answers given. This was not a soul searching of why she had sex, but a confrontation of minutes with little time to really search for truth.

Now for a truth that many here don’t acknowledge to themselves. People who make blunders that take away things that are of great importance to them will not repeat that blunder if the pain was far worse then the action they undertook. Further it requires that we understand why we did these things to the best of our abilities and see if what we did was what we really wanted and may want again.
Cheaters are not doomed to be cheaters again. Cheaters are NOT always cheaters again. Some will find the hoped new relationship now started fizzles and they are back to what was. If that occurs then problems are afoot that require action to acknowledge this to both partners.

This couple's new found truths are something to be remembered but not dwelled on. To keep these memories fresh in the mind will only exacerbate the pain over and over. To deal with it as a sad time, but now behind them, and look at the new found love of each other and their new lust for each others wants and hopes. Many people have more then just survived these times but have grown, and many excelled to new heights in their relationship.
The husband cheating in revenge can be a good thing to even the pain or it can be just a huge blunder. The wife MAY now feel not the pain intended but her own hatred of his betrayal. I am not saying this is a rational reaction on her part, just a reaction of some of our personalities.

I don’t normally respond to another’s comments and Harry did a good job of explaining his own views according to his own personality and mind set. I do take exception to this excerpt from Harry’s comments:
”Men NOT being emotionally advanced as woman use the sex for emotional connection to a much greater degree than womne.”
It is a fact MOST women find sex an emotional experience more then MOST men as they find it more a physical act. Most women need intimacy to enjoy the act as most men find the physical pleasure the most important. So guys start with a lot of romantic hugging and kissing and quit turning over and going to sleep and cuddle some, you will find she appreciates it more then you know. Many women feel the intimate embraces are as important as the physical sex. This is one of the reasons more men stray then women, as they are not really emotionally attached to the woman. Women want the needs addressed emotionally men physically. Don’t get the wrong idea, a turned-on woman can be a really physical animal in bed when emotionally attached

This was well written and to be a commenting cliché “It was real to life.” Thank you for your very well done piece.
PT

You Cheated: I Cheated

There is truth to this story but it reads like an essay. Why did the husband bring up the subject since they were both doing what they wanted to do? It sounds like they were both happy cheating but he had to spoil it with this pillow talk! Now they have to go through this awkward period and try things they never wanted to try before sexually.______

Thought-provoking Essay

I think Jill and David are both going to have trust problems with each other. And, if either one of them becomes good friends with somebody else of the opposite sex, the temptation to cut the losses and run with something new will be overwhelming. Possible for the marriage to survive, but a very low probability bet. Perhaps the comments that it is "all the wife's fault" are correct, but knowing who is at fault won't improve their odds.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 17 years ago
Interesting & Provoking

The foreign reaction by him aside, one can see the reason she selfishly chose to violate their marriage agreement rather than communicate her needs. But her selfish pride wouldn't allow her. Instead she chose to allow then seek the more exciting alternative.

Clearly this contract is mortally damaged by her intended choices of a long term illicit nature. His choice to wander was a reaction to her infidelity which clearly was an effort to get revenge - to balance the scales.

Toast ! But a great vehicle by the Author to provoke thought and comment - and perhaps to save a few relationships - marital or non.

Thanks With High Regard

A missed opportunity

What could have evolved from a classic set up for Hitchcockian plot (normal daily setting, suddenly being interrupted by totally unexpected development) and similarly surprising ending, was diluted and defused with the familiar (an erroneous) claims of moral equivalency. I can’t see many people in life going with this assumption (and neither could I). So, the incredibility of the husband’s character, and by extension the story’s ending, took away a lot of the pleasure of the read from the beginning (the strongest part) and up to the ending. I actually found myself writing for myself an alternative ending, just to let some steam out (I am exaggerating a bit). But it speaks to the strength of the dialog and the dramatic build up, up to the point when the husband started blaming himself too. What a missed opportunity!

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 17 years ago
A slice...

The act of asking and telling is the heart of this story. I would want to delete the "why" entirely, as it takes away some of the empact. From my own experience, this is sometimes the way things happen, that is, this conversation.

Oh yes! I liked it.

Regardless of what the anonymous high schoolers' comments say, this is a chunk of real life. A modicum of research will show that a high percentage of marriages where one or both of the spouses engage in an affair rekindle their loving relationships with counseling and hard work. This is an example of one that will succeed. Good writing. Succinct and to the point. PW

Just get out, she will fuck around again.

I didnt like it much

I thought it was dry and unemotional. I thought the husband was a chump. I couldnt believe that anyone with an ounce of testosterone left in their body would calmly tell his wife he wanted to work it out after finding out she's been giving away what she always denied him. I couldnt believe the wife could go from denying to weepy in the space of a heartbeat and that the husband would believe a word she said.

I suppose saying I couldnt believe they would act that way is wrong. I do believe people act that way every day but that they are unlikable people and likely ashamed of being chicken-shit bastards even as they are choking on the remnants of their self-respect. Letting pride destroy a mostly solid marriage seems stupid but staying with someone who would callously dismiss your feelings then claim to love you when caught is just as stupid imo.

Still appreciate your stories even if this one did leave me feeling a little queasy. Thanks for writing.

Lacking in Emotion

I enjoyed the plot which involved a wife's infidelity and her husbands retaliatory affair but found that both characters lacked any real emotion. In fact, the husbands attitude seemed so 'cut and dried' that it almost made his wife's desire for sexual adventure understandable. His way of confronting his wife seemed very relaxed and laid back. If he handled the rest of his marriage in the same manner it's no wonder they both were bored. Despite this the story was interesting and decently written.

Then why the 100. She cheated and she will again. His reaction was to cheat as well. I feel no love for either of them. He is trying to save the unsaveable, which makes him weak. Good Story, well written

though I have to take exception to the husband's comments that he was to blame for the wife's affair. She is a grown adult responsible for her own actions. If she needed something more or fealt she was being ignored it was her responsability to communicate. So, bottom line, she was responsable for her affair. He shouldn't feel guilty for 'causing her to cheat,' nor should he feel guilty for cheating. She decided they had an open marriage, he just went along with it. Its not a case of 2 wrongs, just him going along with her ground rules. No reason for him not to take advantage of the open marriage if she was going to do so. Hopefully she'll start giving him the same favors she gave her young stud, after all she supposedly loves her husband not the stud.

Not a very pleasant story

Pretty well done but not very pleasant -

2 very complacent - careless - seemingly disloyal people who were willing to follow a whim rather than work with their partner - then wanted to just move on and work it out.

His fault - only partly - her actions are hers and she owns them and the consequences - wait there were none to speak of - one nights bad sleep then his re-commitment to make her happy - him some pain it seems then a fuckfest and a very small confrontation where he took the load of the ownership for her choices - he may own an equal part of the environment they lived in that made her let herself do what she did - BUT she did what she did not him - he only DID what he did.

No bravery here - no facing what they did either of them - no owning how they had destroyed trust and comfort and faith - no acknowledgement that the past would never be the same and the future would be with different people - just using the same names

More Double Standards

She cheats on him, when he does it in return, "How could you?" How could he not? Why SHOULD he not?

She does things with the lover she won't do with hubby? Why? She';s afraid she'll lose him! Why no concern about losing hubby?

He should insist on regular oral and at least occasional anal.

Great story finally an excellent non BTB

Enjoyed this story, why, its not a BTB, it could have easily like many others posted. The husband knew already of her affair, and clearly knew his age and perhaps his name too. Instead of a destructive course of action a calm quiet relaxing evening in bed as the title says it all "Pillow Talk" no angry or violent tones or abuse, nothing just calm plain understanding talk. I even enjoyed his calm demeanor even after she quickly opens up after his confession to his affair only after his discovery, the wife's reply "How could You" to me was priceless, Excuse yourself of wrong but rush to punish for his transgressions only after you the wife begun your extra marital affair. I did like the small tone of hypocrite wife once his adultery was confessed, again a woman of conscious would have just cried because it truly was her fault in all of it. And to be fair? He ended his extra marital relationship days ago, while the wife was still into her affair but only agreed to end hers once it was made public that the husband entered into the same adultery path as the wife. I am glad to see both making amends and remaining married and not throwing away 25 years. Great story 5 stars in my book.

"I don't want anyone but you." - Says the woman who has been fucking someone else!

"I was afraid I might lose him if I denied him." - But you weren't afraid you might lose your HUSBAND if you denied HIM?!

Again with the "too comfortable" excuse. Maybe he bears SOME responsibility for not pushing things, but he had TRIED to push things out of their comfort zone and she refused.

This was a nice toss-off story

From "We tried very hard over the next months to put this bad period behind us." there should have been several more chapters. How would this couple react to the common occurrences in life now? How would they relate to mild flirtations from friends, coworkers and neighbors; separately and while together? How would intimacy be affected with the knowledge of their revelations to one another?

BTW - In the par. beginning "Jill, I think I know why this happened.", why do they blame sex life declining and the first cause of trouble. What follows in David's explanation is the real cause. The decline in intimacy (their sex life) is a symptom of the other; not the cause.

THIS SEEM TO BE THE FALLACY IN SO MANY OF THESE LW STORIES.

I am amazed...

at the number of readers who mark a story down because they don’t like the characters. I like to vote based on the writing, the plot, the nature of the conflict etc.

In this day and age infidelity is quite common and in certain circumstances it is even allowed (polyamory, open marriages, throuples, monogamish marriages) so I like to read and vote as noted above and not because I don’t like what she or he did.

That having been said, the writing and dialogue were well below coaster2’s usual excellent level so I had to drop my vote a bit. Now on to more of c2’s stories.

AnonymousAnonymousover 3 years ago

My thought on reading this....He brought up the pillow talk to get her to stop. He told her a story of his cheating to give her the same pain as he has, and as a means to see if she would rededicate herself to the relationship. He also may have done so in order to allow her the ability to love herself again, by giving her the feeling that she is not the only one who strayed. He understood he had some responsibility in the state of the relationship, and was willing to deal with her stepping out if she was willing to come back.

Surprisingly realistic, but making it work going forward would take immense work. The ending seemed too trite. Too much focus on the sex angle. He seemed almost robotic in his acceptance. There were additional elements at play than just the sex between then becoming stale. There always are. Not enough polish or effort on this short tale. The skeleton and some muscles are there but a lot of the rest of the anatomy is missing. 3/5 stars. Sad because I like this author.
