Double infidelity

I believe that your premise is correct, Jill was responsible! However, Jake must share an equal burden of blame in his infidelity. When the job becomes the mistress, the promise to a client trumps a promise to the spouse, infidelity is the issue. Marriage is a contract, a very frail contract as it depends on the integrity of both sides of that contract. When Jake decided that the client, who could have been represented by a collegue was more important than his wife, he committed the first infidelity. At that point the contract was broken and the only thing left was to make it legal. His failure to override the infidelity by declaring himself in Florida is not a free ride for Jill but it does mitigate the antipathy I experienced for her behavior. No winners here!!!

Double Infidelity More Like "Payback"

I See a Tramp trying to forget she's Married getting caught out .. And blaming everyone but herself. Personally I would have Done Sally and sent her back to Jill Pregnant with My Child.
Cold Hearted Yes but Oh So Good the Payback that keep's on giving.

other pov

Others have given their pov's and one certianly was most for Jill. In my opinion, it was over the top. Her taking the child and several thousands for a new start. Tragic and neither should do things to hurt the child and ideally reach some measure of civility between them (but for jake, do not forget).

I agree with you CB

Women like Angiquesophie often feel like it's the mans fault when they cheat. And for guys it is their fault. Your spending more time with your boys in stead of being with your family. But for those guys who give their all and you still cheat, it's that she was a whore before they meet.

Until The End

I always enjoy you and this story too...until the Epilogue..........

Jake wasn't inept, she did what she wanted to, she did not have enough respect for her marriage to resist...period! She wanted to get laid, kind of obvious by his recollection.

Why should he be an idiot and jump in, he didn't own her and he certainly didn't control her, he loved her and trusted her, she took advantage and went for a good time.

Actually, I think he is a lucky guy, he got to see her character early on in life and with time, he'll move on.

I think your Epilogue is totally contrary to the story and normal common sense human nature, good read otherwise.

Thanks!

torment

With the emotional turmoil that would engulf a man who witnessed his wife so blatantly flaunting herself on the boat, I think it could have gone either way. To intervene, or to see if she remembers her vows and extricates herself before she does the unthinkable.
It is often clear in a story what should happen or what people should do, but an emotional shock like that can find people without their wits.

Own up

and take responsibility for your actions. If you cheated it was your fault. Oh you were drunk and didn't know it, how did you get drunk, somebody forced you to? It was a date rape drug, why were you someplace without your husband that something like that could happen? Too many people cry "It's not my fault" when something happens. It's not my fault I killed that man, I grew up in the ghettos. The accident wasn't my fault, I had to answer my cell phone. Grow up folks and take responsibility.

One Point for Now

Jill went too far on the boat. Any woman who really cared about her marriage, her family and her vows to her husband would have known that. When she retired to her room to get ready for dinner and came down off of her afternoon high, she should have felt that fear of going too far and vowed to keep herself from getting into that situation again that evening. She obviously did not. She really had separated herself from her married persona and chose to act like a single woman. For that, she had to pay the price.

You're Better Than This

Your epilogue comment that they might have worked it out had the opportunity existed! Seriously?

You did fine up until the point you wrote that line. She got totally into her adultery and tried the blame the husband as a tact to get him back in the marriage.

Sorry Charly - you're better than that line!

Dump Her And Move On

1st of all...,
All of Angiquesophie's female characters are sociopaths. It is no wonder that her Jill is far beyond selfish, self centered and emotionally immature. It is said that a civilized man can think like a savage, but a savage man can't think like a civilized man. The civilized man knows the difference between civilization and savagery. The savage man does not know the difference. In Angiquesophie's "explanation" of Jill's thinking and behaviour, she characterized someone beyond understanding or redemption. I don't think she is capable of seeing that Jill was not someone capable of love, or a loving relationship.

2nd...,
Jake should not have stopped Jill. She knew what she wanted to do. She didn't care how it affected anyone else. And she constructed justifications to support her actions. If she had loved Jake, not only would she had not behaved the way she did, she would not have wanted to behave the way that she did. One adult can not "police" the behaviour of another adult. Jake is better off knowing and moving on with his life.

Lastly...,
In my life, I have come to recognize that "people are who they are". When someone behaves like Jill, you count yourself lucky that you found out, who they are, and what they are about. You separate your life from their life. And you move on. You have different goals and expectations. You are both better off, not "mucking up" each others lives. For those who say that is difficult and painful when you love someone, I agree. But you have to recognize that you don't love the person that they truly are. You love the image of them that that you created in your mind. When they reveal their true self, you have to recognize your mistake, and move on. "It takes all kinds to make a world." You have to recognize that some of the most beautiful things in life are also deadly. That doesn't mean that you can't appreciate their beauty and appeal. It doesn't mean that you need to obliterate them. It just means that you have to recognize that they are not good for "you".

Robert

I have read Angiquesophie's ending and agree with you.... this is what I commented on her story.

I don't normally make comments like this, but....

This is such a crock of shit... "written from a womans point of view"... bollocks! The writer has changed some salient points from the original story and manipulated them to turn the cheated spouse into a weak, perverted, man just to justify the stupid, cheating whores actions...... If a 'normal', faithful woman/wife thought she saw her husband seeing her disport herself in a way that would upset a 'normal' husband she would be likely to tone it down... not escalate her actions. Given 'this' situation and their history with the twins, why wouldn't a husband check his wife's behaviour? The writer has just made the bloke into a pervert to justify her fucking around on him..... Yeah, she still loves him?... Bollocks to that too..... she shows him just how much she loves him by deserting him and taking his child. Yeah, if that's love the writer is living on the wrong planet, ha ha ha. And why the fuck should she be waiting for him to say sorry? She's the one who cheated, she's just a selfish, self indulgent, self obsessed, self satisfied, self justifying adulterer.... There's a lot of self's in there.

Sorry Charley

Was good up to the PS.. Totally unbelievable regarding Sally. No doubt Sally is promiscious but no way she does this to Jill. The Epilog is right on and I thought that is the direction you were headed. I would have loved to get your thougths how each would have finally admitted their part in this failure.

Dead On!

That is the best assessment of cheating on this site. All relationships have problems. All people have personal problems. Cheating solves the problems of a relationship the same way murder / suicide solves personal problems. The problems are over, but so is everything else.

FINALLY YES!!! charleybear you got it right. we are responsible for our own actions. Yes... a marriage is about both.. a wife should focus on the husband and the husband focus on the wife. both invest 100 percent of their heart, energy time and effort. I read the original post, Jill broke that bond and deserved exactly what she got. I disagreed with the original ending, her actions showed she clearly did not respect or cherish her marriage to Jake.

"Stopping it" doesn't really stop it

She'll just do it again. Who wants to have to spend a lifetime guarding their spouse?

I liked it until the end. Then it just turned from making a story well rounded to becoming a man's fantasy about what he WISHED he could do in this situation. No doubt that both of these people would end up divorced. Quite frankly, if she needs a man to MAKE her be faithful, then he is not for her. On the other hand, if he is looking for a wife that he can trust, then she is not for him. I have to take his side on this. it's not because I'm a man, it's because when two people get married, they vow to stay loyal. He confused his not jumping in to stop her with him urging her to cheat. No matter what he did, she is responsible for her own actions. If she had a problem with what he did, she should have confronted him and NOT CHEATED. Just like he should have confronted her when he had a problem with what she did. All of this passive aggressiveness destroyed a marriage and split a family apart. She was hurt that he didn't confront her. She should have also held herself to that same standard. In the end, this is not a matter of his opinion vs her opinion. There is right and wrong. She was wrong. To put it at his feet is to say that she is too weak to keep her vows, and she needs his help. She really did want to cheat, she just needed an excuse so she wouldn't have to feel like the bad guy. In the end, he is much better off without her.

I will say that though this letter started well, it took a turn that most male authors tend to take when satisfying their need for justice. Often, male authors want retribution. When doing so, they tend to make the story become unbelievable. Him sexing Sally and coming up with a conspiracy to kidnap his kid has so many holes in it that it is practically see-through.

People make mistakes

It happens all the time. However, cheating is NOT a mistake! It is a deliberate act. It requires a conscious decision. Turning left, when yiu should have gone right, is a mistake. Picking up skimmed milk, instead low fat is a mistake. You CANNOT cheat by accident! It is a selfish act, done deliberately , and therefore, cheaters are scum, and should be punished accordingly .

Stepping Up

In one of the original chapters I said that Jake should have decked Juan. I either forgot, or hadn't read yet the story about when he tried to fight them and they beat him up, so I guess I have to cut him some slack there.

He still should have stepped up right there, though, although that still doesn't excuse her actions.

This is

as it should be. I probably would not have stopped my wife. I would have let it be a test for her. This wife failed the test.

Stepping up

should not be called for. Again, one of the reasons, though not the main one, to get married is so you don't have to constantly watch out to make sure that you don't lose your girl friend. Especially when you are young. A committed relationship should be a sanctuary. If he had to step in and maybe get his ass kicked by two guys just to keep his wife from straying, he didn't have much of a marriage or indeed, much of a wife. He had to hang back and see if she would police herself. Of course, after what he saw on the boat as it came into the dock and finding her rings in her cabin, he knew that she wouldn't stop herself and since in the other story she had professed not to like them and supposedly had never had anything to do with them, he was hoping that she had just gotten a little out of line. Too far out for me, but hey, I'm old fashioned. So, no slack for the slut. Everyone stop trying to make all the men in the stories weaklings. The wife has just as much responsibility to make things work as the husbands. And walking around at a class reunion where everyone there knows what you have done and knows your husband, is not trying to keep things together.

Protecting your wife.

I'm all for protecting your wife, but it is very hard to fight for someone when you have to fight them as well as the guys they are screwing around with. You can't win unless she is on your side to help you fight.

wrong thinking

in a marriage either spouse shouldn't have to fight to keep the other one with them. that should come naturally. if it looks like you should have to fight for the other one to be with you what exactly are you fighting for? someone who don't really know if they should stay with you? plus she is an adult and can make her own decisions on what she should do anytime.

Finally!

What! Someone on this site agrees that we are responsible for our own actions. This woman made her own choices - and all of them bad. Yes, she blames the husband, yes she drank too much, yes they complimented her. She - not the husband-made the choices to cheat. She can rationalize it all she wants but she is a cheater. She chose to cheat, she wasn't raped or drugged, she made a choice. So, like the rest of the country, let's blame our bad choices on someone else.

Sally's change of heart

This is a good rebuttal. You'll find you and I agree on many points. (I just replied to Angiquesophie.) I am surprised to see that Sally is a "double agent" and has returned little Jake to his father. That is a little far fetched if Sally hated Jake. But besides that, good story.

Stop Her

You can put me solidly in the camp with those who say he shouldn't HAVE to stop her!

Many wives here like to say, "It's MY body!" and "You're not my jailer!" and they're right! She should by faithful enough that when temptation rears its ugly head she walks away ON HER OWN! If she needs him to "stop her", what happens if he's not there to stop her? Many wives want their Girls Nights Out, do they want their husbands following them so that they can "stop them"? I doubt it!

exuse me he should have stopped her ??? what is that for bullshit!!

so the next time something like that happens and he isnt around what happens then ?? shit man there is but one reason i would step in and that is when my wife told the third party to piss off and he doesend and he can expect my fist in his face but other then that she is a grown up and should be able to handle shit herself
