I know the story

As a storyteller myself with my own orchid which could not be mine. And even knowing that, you are willing to soak in what you can, when you can. Feed and nurture when needed. All to preserve and protect the beauty that will one day belong to someone else, not you. You learn a lot about ownership. But also about one sided relationships. For that "friendship" that grows deeper; as you said "As many beautiful things are wont to be, she was obsessed with praise and admiration." And from another song that you did not quote "sometimes, I thank god, for the unanswered prayers.)

A fairytale but so true

You've told this story in such a beautiful way, and you managed to capture that feeling of loving someone unattainable, yet still enjoying her presence, allowing some of her admirable qualities - even her pefection - to rub off on you and enrich you as a person.
