The angst of guilt!

Nicely done - quite plausible and interesting.

Disappointing

I normally like these consequences stories very much. But you set Stan up as such a weakling and so dependent on his cheating wife that I just can't get into this one. Unless he has a revelation during the year apart that she isn't deserving of being his "center of the universe" so to speak, this story is going no where. From a troll.

My dear :what you did was what

many wives have done. You secummed to the old greener, younger pastures thing. You got caught, meaning that you aren't as smart as you think you are. So I guess that means you are a dumb slut. Now you have to lie in the bed you have made. Get a job ,support yourself in the manner that your husband had you accustomed to. Perhaps one day you will be a real woman again. Or better yet get your lover to support you. Bet he will be happy to. Dumb brawd

Quite a punishment...

Living in limbo can be the worst kind of punishment...

She has one year to regret her actions - one year, hoping that he will come back - one year wondering if he can forgive her - one year of uncertainty because there are no solutions or promises, he might come back just to tell her to fuck off...

The Previous Guttural Comment Was Point On For Most

men but to deliver his message - the Author felt it was necessary. We shall see won't we.

To leave everything was seemingly submissive, decidedly not a normal male trait. Perhaps it fits into some revenge long term - hopefully.

Remember, she has aggressively cucked him for months and in their marital bed once or more. He deserves more than she will ever now provide as a partner. She deserves the worst consequence a long term cheating wife can experience short of physical harm for this reason among others.

We know she is now suddenly penitent, but he doesn't. We know that she had no intention of stopping her planned cocking and he has every reasonable suspicion of her ongoing intent plus the possibility of other cocks now or intended.

In view of what he knows or reasonably expects, her consequence is hollow and virtually non-existent. Puzzling isn't it. For all he knows and could know, a year gives her the ability to liquidate all their assets plus his paintings, etc.. As well as 13 more lovers until a month or a day before he crawls back.

Doesn't seem right or plausible for someone in his right mind - unless ???

Author - this doesn't seem to walk your path of true consequence - we need to be made believers - again - hopefully.

With Some Regard and More Pending

Worst Wimp ASS shit you've written

celt, I absolutely LOATHE this awful story.

What's next?? Is he going to come back after a year and forgive her by eating her lover's cream pie??

Why can't he just beat the shit out of this whore -and get away with it?? Try writing that story.

Where's a Billy Goat Gruff when you need one?

If any of these trolls were real men (rather than wimps), they would man up and write their own story with a hero who does what THEY want him to do. But it's so much easier to trash someone else's work than to get off their rumps and do a little work....

when is chapter two coming out

Lots of unanswered questions. Perhaps stan is really gay and was looking for a way out? Lots of artists are. Anyway he was a weak character. Well written but left me in limbo. Hope you set things straaight in chapter two.

Thecelt,

This starts out well. I am looking forward to the next chapter. I sure hope you will ignore the idiots who cannot write and cannot understand the concept of fiction or that the world doesn't work as they like it.

Short and sweet.

It wasn't even a full page and I must deduct for that. Then your editor doesn't appear to understand object pronouns. "For Stan and I" is wrong. That mistake was made a few times. Prepositions take object pronouns. You took time to give her the credit, so she gets the blame.

What I like,

after thinking about it a little, is the way Stan leaves. At first, I agreed with some other commentators: he's a weakling, a wimp, what's wrong with him? __________________________________________________ ____
But when you think about it, the punishment he's doled out is wonderfully cruel: she's now in limbo for a year, not knowing whether she'll ever get her husband back. In a way that's far more effective than simply dumping her.

Excellent beginning to story

This story's beginning (Chapter 1)is typical of Celt"s series on "consequences." Each story involves a different situation between a different married couple. I have always found that I could depend on Celt to provide a stellar story with substantial originality of writing. Readers that haven't already read his other "consequences" tales, should do so. the score is a registration of disappointment

it doesn't mean any thing malicious to you, dear beloved author. i still love you and your stories; i just wanted to give a bad score simply because i wanted to and could.

but i still love you and your stories a lot! remember, the score "00" doesn't mean any thing; it's just a score, just like pure, raw, dirty, exciting sex with another person other than your spouse, whom you love deeply and for whom you'd lay down your life... like what Brave and Heroic ("I've packed my little bags and gone; but I'll be back in exactly one year, to see if you still want me or if you've already divorced me in the mean time and had married someone else and already had a kid") STAN and his beloved wife Shannon without whom he couldn't live a happy life...

Poor Reading Comprehension

OHIO:

But when you think about it, the punishment he's doled out is wonderfully cruel: she's now in limbo for a year, not knowing whether she'll ever get her husband back

THECELT:

“I'm leaving you, taking only my clothes and a few things I need. I won't contact you in any way and I won't tell you where I'm going. I'm not filing for divorce so if you want one, it's up to you…

“In a year, I will make contact with you. You can tell me then what you want to do or what you've already done. The choice is yours. In the interim, you decide how you want to live and whether I have a place in your life.”

ME, the ESL reader:

Dear Ohio, you sure you and I read the same story, by THECELT, titled CONSEQUENCES --- Shannon, Ch. 01?

Or perhaps we did, but my English is too poor to really understand the story? English is my 4th language.

But from MY READING of THECELT’s tale, Stan clearly said he could not and would not divorce Shannon; but he could not and would not live with her, while she’s fucking around, either.

But.... He says....

Since that sort of paints him as a complete wimp and coward, he LEAVES IT UP TO HER to decide, WHICHEVER COURSE she wants: the ONLY THING he's sure, he says, is that he WILL BE BACK IN ONE YEAR.... and at THAT TIME, he will take her decision, her FINAL decision, on the matter AS HIS, as a FINALITY, one way or the other, regardless how she decided [or had decided]....

How “cruel” is that to Shannon? She KNOWS he WILL BE BACK IN ONE YEAR, to hear what her response is: that is, whether it is,

(1) “Honey, Stan, I love you more than live itself. IT WAS JUST SALIVA exchange with Marty; it’s just him shoving his big and exciting and younger dick inside me, coming inside me... to be crude about it…. But it is YOU whom I love more than life and without whom I could not and would not go on living!”

Or

(2) “Sorry, Stan… It’s errr one of these things I didn’t expect to have done… One thing, one road, led to another… I …. Marty and I didn’t, y’know, PLAN to fall in love… but after some loving together…we, y’know…. We just knew we were each other’s soul mate…. I still love you, Stan, in some way… Just not the exciting way it is with Marty…. Sorry…. I, as you made it possible [and I thank you for that], already went ahead and did the paper work… all you have to do, now that you‘re here… is just sign them….”

Seriously, dear Ohio, HOW CRUEL is that, when Stan gave Shannon the POWER, absolute power, to decide whether or not they stay together, because he loves her so much, notwithstanding her fucking around, he couldn't do any thing to her... it must be up to her to DECIDE what to do, how to proceed with their lives, together or separately?

Again, it must be my extremely poor English comprehension, that I didn’t understand words like “cruel” and their many deep or deeper meanings.

PLEASE AIM BEFORE FIRING!

There are some folks 'round here that tend to fire before they even look what they're shootin' at. Stan did not say that he would accept whatever Shannon decides. He said plainly that he would under no circumstances share her with others. So if she can't be faithful while he's gone, the end will be divorce.

What he said was that he could not accept any of the three options he listed as a way of dealing here and now with the affair. He's giving her a chance to straighten her life out, but she is going to have to do it without him and without any help from him. He hopes that will be punishment for her; if it isn't, if his leaving doesn't shock her into her moral right mind, then he'll know where he stands.

The fact is that the marriage vow does not say "unless you cheat on me." It says "as long as we both shall live." No one should accept cheating in their spouse, but a man is not a wimp if he doesn't go into "kill the bitch" mode the first time she strays. Trying to bring a cheating wife around so that she sees what she's done and recommits herself to what's important is not weak. It takes a lot of strength. What makes it strength is that such a man neither submits to the intolerable nor lets his own feelings of anger and insult dominate him. He does his best to bring things to rights. That's what a man ought to do.

Whether Stan is taking that kind of stand or just running off isn't clear yet. We'll see in the sequel.

Thanks, Mr. The Celt, for a well-written thoughtful story.

Time to weigh in...

The story line is fantastic, what do you do when you love someone so much that the only option is give them the space they need to figure things out? What do they do with that year, do they move on, do they regret and repent? Some people think that the best solution is to use their fists and beat up their spouse, but what would be the point of that? If violence is your answer, then you have already lost and it's not about love, it's about control. Don't get me wrong, sometimes a man's gotta lay the smackdown, sometimes he has to take a step back. Personally, I think that if she can take a good solid look at herself and her actions and decide that her husband is the only man for her, then why not chalk it up to a lesson learned and move on. Sometimes, divorce isn't the only option. Thanks for a great story.

Nice Story!

I can't wait to read about the 'Education of Marty' in the next chapter. I liked that he left the whore hanging--presumably he wouldn't really have any intentions of speaking to her again. I would like to hear about how he cuts off her knees when the year is up.

ANOTHER great story--THANKS!

No need for multiple parts in a story like this

Im the last guy to complain about reusing previous themes but in this case, Im going to do make an exception. This idea of the husband leaving and leaving the wife at home to prove her love and faithfulness was a bad idea the first two times (off the top of my head) it was used and its even worse here (because of the long-term affair with no end in sight).

I can maybe see the guy doing it when he catches his wife in a one-off but a 3 month affair that she doesnt regret at all until she is caught is another story. This is not an accident and its not just a 'people make mistakes' type of thing. Since there is no reason to forgive the wife or give 2 shits what she does during his time away, having multiple chapters (especially one so short) is more annoying than suspenseful.

You cant reconcile them now so why bother with the whole 'ill see you in a year and decide what to do then' thing? You cant reconcile an affair because whatever you write about forgiveness, love, normal human failings, etc, will just be bullshit. You dont do something you know would hurt someone and then get to claim you always loved them after you're caught. Thats a crock of shit. If she didnt even care about his feelings, she damn sure cant claim to love him. If you reconcile the guy with a wife who doesnt love him, he looks like the biggest sucker in the world.

I really didnt think this story was as good as your others but I do appreciate your writing. Even a bad story from you (relatively speaking when compared to your others imo) is still welcome and a good change of pace from whats been showing up around here for the last several weeks. Thanks for writing.

A fine Post Mortem of a marriage

First I want to commend thecelt on the very creative use which was made with the element of the time sequence of the narrative (vs. the chronological time). The story starts with the latest sequence (leading to the discovery of the letter) which brings all the range of extreme emotions with it (shock fear etc.) then it goes back to the beginning of the affair. The result is that we read the wife’s naïve and emotionally shallow account (it’d told from the perspective of each period of time) like we read an approaching disaster only we know about, but not the participants. It reads like a post mortem of relations while they still seem to be alive and kicking - only we know that soon every thing is going to drop and for the affair, the time it starts marks (for us) also the beginning of the end of the relations.
From the perspective of “the punishment” I half heartedly agree that the wife gets almost a symmetrically proportioned punishment. While the husband - at least for some (unknown too…) time did not know what’s going on with his wife state of mind, not to mention her infidelity, she now gets to see how it feels on the other end. How it feels when one member of the couple betrays the strong implied and explicit understanding to be loyal and honest and forthcoming with each other –in other words not to leave the partner vulnerable to a state of physical or emotional limbo as a result of one sided action. Which is exactly what she did then it’s exactly what he did. Well almost; he left her a notice in which he promises in an ambiguous language that it will be her decision to tell him what she has decided. True, he has not said what HE is going to decide and my hope (similar to others) is that that opportunity will be used in order to settle the final score with her. I envision it as some thing like: “It’s so very nice of you to having come to the decision that once you’ve been exposed, you’d be better of by cutting your loses and settling on half of your previous bargain – namely, on being 'only' with me. Only since you have not consulted with ME at the BEGINNING of your affair, I now, if you don’t mind, reserve a similar right not to consult with YOU about the ENDING of our affairs. Evidently, one year without you have taught me that I CAN live without you. See, marriage is always about two sides. So it’s either we both choose the time and the weapon or we both don’t get to do it. Hope you’ll do well with rest of your life Shannon”
His disappearance makes for a good dramatic suspense; still, from what we have read so far (and it was an extensive exposure), as far as the wife goes –there is not much there –there; i.e. You portrayed a very accurate profile of the typical emotionally shallow narcissistic and immature cheater. No quick fixes there dear husband. Sure, Character Disorders could go to mostly quite ineffective and very long therapies, but to the most part they only get to manage their behaviors. Best bet for the hubby though – cut his losses and open his wings else where .

sorry, but I do not agree....

I only gave you a 50 because there in one cheat for sure. If there had been 2 cheats, then the score would have been zero. She did a stupid thing and he did a more stupid thing. When he found out she was cheating on him, he should have made sure he had all of the evidence needed to get a divorce for adultery and then taken her to the cleaners. Why should he leave for her cheating sluttish ways? He should get a divorce from her and file a civil suit against Marty for alienation of affection in the breaking of their marriage. He is the one who sought her out and made the moves.

Remember, ONCE A CHEAT, ALWAYS A CHEAT. Not only did she cheat, but she broke the trust that a husband and wife have. When there is no trust, there is no marriage. That holds true for every cheater. If they do somehow get back together, how can he ever trust her again. She broke their marriage vows and she should pay the penalty.

Stan made a foolish mistake by leaving with the lingering thought that after one year they might get back together. That is just plain wasting a year of his time. Come on Stan, get over it and her and move on with your life. But, make sure the community and all close friends of heir's and Marty's know why there is a divorce going on and pass the picture around letting everyone know what was happening behind your back. You can always paint a picture of the photograph and hang it in the Williams Art Gallery. Name it the "CHEATING WIFE". Imagine the publicity that you would receive and if anyone wanted to buy it, it would not be for sale. I imagine she would want to buy it to keep it from the viewing public.

You could also post it on the Internet and more people would see it and make sure you tell them their name, addresses, phone numbers, email accounts and anything else. Otherwise, destroy the both of them so they will have to leave town in order to survive and not risk such humiliation.

Lastly, Stan, you should have taken every cent you could lay your hands on because once it is hers for just a little bit, it will be hers forever, speaking from experience.

Consequences

Since we all seem to be wondering about future developments, let's speculate on the year (nine months) to come. BTW: The rating is comparative with other celt stories; and I agree that it's a little short to break into chapters. I will re-rate after the conclusion. *****

She hasn't heard from or talked to Martin since the departure, so we don't know what is going on between Stan and Martin. I can't see Martin being Stan's agent any longer. Wonder how much Martin's income is dependent on Stan's paintings? Wonder how much Martin's income might suffer if Stan let it be known that Martin can't be trusted? Stan is "world renowned" and so packs some significant pull in the art world and among collectors. Hmmmm *******

If Stan has known for a while - my guess is that since the anniversary he has been suspicious - then I would guess that there is a lot of offshore money and commissions available to keep him busy during the year away. Or maybe he disappears and returns after a year with a show (and a new agent) that blows the art world away with its pathos and dispair. In any case HE is not going to be suffering financially as a result of this year away. *******

How will Shannon deal with the questions about where Stan has gone? What will happen to Shannon's dreams of a larger market/interest in her work now that she has "lost" her famous husband? Will this family-oriented business evaporate with knowledge that Stan is gone (whisper, whisper, did you hear why he's gone?) *******

Stan knows Shannon pretty well and knows what his leaving will do to her guilt complex and feelings of inferiority. If she seeks professional help, one consequence to Shannon is likely to be a slow descent into the hell of her guilt and realization of how shallow a person she really is. She will begin to question whether her talent is any deeper than the high-priced "wedding photog" she has become. It will then destroy her dream of what she could become. *******

Will he actively look for someone else during the year ahead? Probably not, especially since his sex drive seems to be slowing down. Will he be willing to resume a complete marriage, assuming that she wants to continue it? Probably not, at least not as a sexual companion. So maybe the consequence to Shannon is that she commits to remain with him on his terms - no one outside the marriage - only to discover that there will be no sexual "one" inside the marriage either. If he returns and sets things right with the outside world, her career resumes; if he leaves again, everyone will know and it will likely destroy her career. So she is stuck in a sexless marriage with a man who is happy with that and doesn't dare "step out" to get her "peak of sexuality" female needs met. Hope Martin was worth it!!*************

Let's see what happens

I like it so far. I want to see where it goes now. Walking out without a confrontation is a bit different and leaving her with a huge dose of guilt is good. A different form of revenge that could be very effective. The husband is not a wimp! He found out and he left, that is not a wimp.

Disappointing "punishment" for Shannon . . .

The story was fairly well-written but too short for my taste. I really don't feel that Stan punished Shannon by leaving for a year. I'm not sure that punishing her was his intent, however. He just wants to see what she is going to do. But I think he is unrealistic (but then, artists need to dream and imagine a lot; fantasy is everything to many artists). She will have his money, a whole year to get over him, and a year to meet someone new (or go back to Marty, despite her current avoidance). Stan is betting that Shannon really loves him, but I think he is really taking a big chance. What guarantee she won't get the itch again? Why no counseling if he wants to try keeping a relationship with her in the future? And what consequences, if any, are there for Martin who fucked his client by fucking his other client, the wife of his client! Pretty shallow bastard is Martin! What, Stan will find another agent? Pretty tough for Martin. I don't know that Martin needs to be beaten up or castrated (though I would feel like doing that if I were Stan); maybe something to ruin Martin's reputation and business, so he needs to leave town (permanently)? Maybe sue him for disaffection or something? Don't give him the last 3 commissions you still owe him? I'm hoping The Celt can think of something.

Come on guys...

...you make sound like only women should be punished for cheating on their husbands. However, more men cheat than women (although we are getting more frequent). Should we women always "throw the bum out" or is there still a d**m double standard? Lighten up - this is fiction for our entertainment, not a morality play.

I love it when someone says forgive the wife,

more men cheat than women. Hmmm, does that mean that when most men cheat they cheat with men? What does how many men cheat have to do with one wife cheating on her totally faithful husband? Absolutely nothing. And what does someone else's cheating wife have to do with a totally faithful woman whose husband cheats on her, absolutely nothing. What matters is that in this marriage contract this spouse did this to the other spouse. Yes, did this. The adulterous spouse: breaks the marriage contract; commits adultry; betrays; cheats; is unfaithful; disrespects; lies; cheats; gives false emotions; gives false love and affection; gives the time and energy needed within the marriage to someone else; places both spouses in harms way with regard to diseases, ability to earn income and potential blackmail. In addition, it can and will adversely affect all family members including the children of the marriage and both spouses extended families. One can forgive a person breaking a marriage contract, some things can be understood, but forgiving does not require nor lead to reconciliation of the marriage. The only logical outcome of a marriage contract broken for infidelity, adultry, is divorce. The act of reconciliation requires that a new contract be established, a new marriage. So many people forget a broken contract is an invalid contract, and for people to get back together a new contract is needed, a new marriage. But never forget, once a cheater, always a cheater just waiting on opportunity and self justification. Trash is always trash, sooner or later one has to put the trash out before its stink fills the house.

Enjoyable

Celt:Excellent telling of an interesting tale. You get high marks for an intelligent and interesting presentation. I agree with KOLKORE that your order of events was refreshing and imaginative. Forgive my nitpicking, but, harkening to and agreeing with a previous post, the misuse of pronouns with prepositions has become too common a mistake. While personally disagreeing with the husband's actions, I understand his reasoning. His solution is one of avoidance. He doesn't want to face the prospect of his wife abruptly ending their marriage. Not my resolution of choice, but one that he feels he has no alternative but to choose. I don't see this as punishment at all. I think he's simply fleeing the scene and hoping that, in a year's time, his wife will have missed him enough to decide that she wants the marriage to continue. In his note, he already came to that decision as he wrote "The choice is yours."As for the prospects for this marriage being salvaged, I wouldn't hold out much hope. Usually one of a couple who finds his/her relationship wanting and strays elsewhere to find those missing parts, discovers that even after reconciliation with that partner those parts are still missing. And the relationship is still wanting. What caused this woman to dally is still going to be there, and history will repeat itself. This woman's affair may have started as something in the moment, but has now become a long standing infidelity. Regardless of whether or not she "knows" why she continues to cheat, some need within her is being met else she would've stopped long ago. Best that both go their own way.Celt, nicely done.

Sounds like a good start

I'm wondering.. He says he can't divorce her but when he comes back home will he be welcoming her with open arms if she tells him she wants that and he believes her.. He'll need proof of her fidelity won't he?? If she is chaste for one year does that prove she'll be faithful to him?? Seems there is much to this story that we need to know..

Life is shit

Marriages die. Fucking is fun. Some win for a time. We all lose in the end. This crap is called philosophy.

As I read it Marty is both her own age and twelve years younger. Unless that is he got to be agent for a fifty plus, world famous artist before he was twenty eight. I think the point is that he was younger than her aging, slowing down husband.

If there's more I will read it but a reconciliation will be hard to make plausible.

PS How can I put paragraph breaks in my comments?

It's Mostly A Self-Esteem "Problem"

the cheating on the wife's part was merely for the author to explore the lack of self-esteem on the husband's part. this is a man, a character, who had very little or no self-esteem.

his ONLY hope was that if he THREW his everything (regarding love, honor, cherishing, worshipping ground, etc.) out there, that SHE her heart would soften and she would say,

"Honey, I am so sorry. I know how much you love me. I love you too, despite what I've been doing. It's just sex, okay? It has nothing to do with my love for you, okay? And, more important, since I know how badly I hurt you by having sex with another man, I won't do it again. I promise. Okay? Now, come back to me and let's talk, so we could get back to working on our marriage again." ETC.

What kind of a person, man or woman, lives their lives like that?, looking at the other person --- big eyes --- with fear, with tears in them, with longing, love, adoration, and more fear of being abandoned..... holding his or her breath, waiting, waiting to hear a soothing, loving word. And if she/he hears that word, then she/he go running or crawling to that other person... and, if not, then they tuck their tale behind their legs and slowly walk away, with heads held really low, in total defeat, with tears rolling down their cheecks,,,, like this man, Stan, here?

Is this really about LOVE?, sure, I guess there are some unhealthy degrees of it there, from both partners... but the story is really ultimately about a person who has very low self-esteem.... so much so, the AFFAIR (affairs) is not really the biggest thing he found fault in his wife: what he fears the most, he said, was for him to DIRECTLY CONFRONT her, asking her question, face to face, and she saying she no longer love him....

Stan, this character, said exatly that: so, rather than asking her either to stop, why she's doing this to their marriage, or if she thinks the other pasture was really greener, etc., etc. ..... he simply wrote her a note: I'm gonna go away, because I can't stand a possible, face to face, rejection from you, EVEN AFTER WHAT YOU'VE DONE to us, to our marriage. But I'll be back ONE YEAR from now, and HOPEFULLY by then, you will have decided what exactly you want.

I will, THEN, accept your decision.

You are either drunk, senseless, or joking when you say THAT is "CRUELTY"....

"...Letting her stew in limbo, suffering mental anguish and the terrible unknown, like that for a whole year?.... my god, what a cruel man that Stan husband is, to do this to Shannon... after all, she's been exchanging bodiliy fluids with only one man and only for a couple months now! my god, how CRUEL could any husband be, to run away from such a suffering woman/wife, for one whole year like that?, and won't talk to her at all during that whole year?... to MAKE HER having to make tough decisions regarding their MARRIAGE, all by herself, alone! and all he'd do, when he returns in one year, was simply to agree with her decision? this is TOO CRUEL!"

People can be so silly and funny sometimes, in these silly stories... It's SO CRUEL of Stan, to sentence Shannon to one whole year, to suffer the mental anguish he, Stan, had suffered, when he knew she was fucking around on him.

Man, doesn't this Stan guy just ooze when it comes to having confidence, intelligence, wit, stability, self-esteem, forcefulness, etc., huh?! LOL!!

Not a surprise someone like OHIO thinks its good

OHIO's insight and post is well fucking scary... I mean it shows a mindest on life on the borders on delusional.

Consider the wife's action.

1) Shannon does NOT know WHY she is fucking Marty

2) she has been doing it for months -- shades of the silly HOUSE OF CARDS

3) and it does NOT bother her at all that she is fucking Marty their Marital bed...

does anyone think Shannon is going to spend the next year ALONE? sufferring? The wimp husband left her ALL his his Money and all his Property.

if anyone sees ANY hint of suffering please let me know

To the poster PLEASE AIM BEFORE FIRING

The poster who title is PLEASE AIM BEFORE FIRING wrote this

PLEASE AIM BEFORE FIRING
Stan did not say that he would accept whatever Shannon decides. He said plainly that he would under no circumstances share her with others. So if she can't be faithful while he's gone, the end will be divorce.

this is what STAN actually wrote

In a year, I will make contact with you. You can tell me then what you want to do or what you've already done. The choice is yours. In the interim, you decide how you want to live and whether I have a place in your life. If I do, it must be as I always thought it was before I found out about your infidelity. I can not and will not share you with another man or men

given how she lied for so often and so long how would stan KNOW she has cleaned up her act during that time?

Wimp!

Stan's a wimp. She's cheating on him because he's a wimp.

Wishful Thinking?

Although I enjoyed the story a lot, In real life, I would have a problem, had it been me she cheated on, believing that she could remain celibate for a year. After all she couldn't stay faithful to him even while he was there giving her all the sex he could manage. Now that he won't be available for a year, the odds wouldn't be all that good that she was going to hold out. If she did relieve her cravings again, with the same lover, or just one night stands every now and then, I would have a hard time resuming our relationship when the year was over. It seems to me his plan was destined for failure from the start.

Let me vote before I read part 2.

No reconciliation for this bitch. I do believe in reconciliation if the husband has been neglectful etc. but this bitch had no excuse.

Regrets?

She had regrets because, as an older and more established artist he had a reputation and he had money. She needed both to be able to have the young man, too. Not a slut, a whore. False tears and false regrets. And now on to the second part of the story where the husband is systematically stripped of his pride and his manhood by the author and forced to take back his whore wife and learn to love his new life as a cuck.

I DON'T LOVE HIM!

What does it matter if the cheater doesn't "love" the one she cheats with? It doesn't make it any less horrible that they're dishonoring their spouse! WAIT! It DOES matter!
If you're supposed to "love" your spouse but you "love" the one you're cheating with, it's a double betrayal! And yet some spouses STILL decide to reconcile after being tormented by such betrayal.
BTW, Anonymous asked the question "why even get married if you want to fool around with another partner?" The answer is because the cheater gets off on humiliating, dishonoring and betraying the spouse. To them, what good is humdrum, faithful sex with hubby when you can sneak, lie, cheat, be adventurous and feel the thrill of possibly being caught red-handed? How exciting!

Every time someone writes about a photographer they screw it up.

A commercial photographer does not do weddings, bar mitzvahs, or parties.. I know, it was my profession for over 30 yrs. She was an event photographer, not a commercial photographer...big, difference.

Other than that, great story so far--

Cheating Is Rarely About A Transference Of Love

Cheating is about replacing one lover with another. And it doesn't matter if one provides love and the other provides 'just sex'. Both are sex acts of an intimate nature. They are interchangeable. Reconciliation in works of fiction makes for interesting reading. But reconciliation in real life doesn't happen all that often.
