Internal consistency
I've been reading this series up until now, but the complete lack of internal consistency is too much. It is set in the future. Travel to other planets is possible. Vehicles exist. Yet somehow the only way for a KING to get home is on horseback (or equivalent)? And this same king travels with no guards at all, even though his wife was shot 6 months prior? Then a prince travels alone (Also on horseback) with no guards even though he's going to stop an attack on a king. Then a pregnant princess whose sister was kidnapped and forced to become addicted to drugs goes out alone (still no guards) after him. She does this despite putting her unborn children in great danger. And the queen over every one of these people does nothing to stop it? Even after stopping the attack there are no guards ordered for any of these people?
It's an interesting story, and very well written, but the complete lack of logic is a bit much.
