Okay, you redeemed yourself.

I was ticked when I read the first chapter and didn't see there was a second. I liked the story, but I do wish he had let Roger take the cuffs off then belted him.
Oh, by the way, I gave this chapter 5* to make up for the 3* I gave to the first chapter.

Interesting Story

This was an interesting story with a different take on faithfulness or the lack thereof. I have mixed emotions about the reconciliation, but I think the author was on the mark with the wife's admission of her problem and the husband's thoughts that that admission was the only way back. The fact that she would participate in such a "joke" after what they had gone through previously was almost a deal breaker for me.

The son's continuing attitude was a bit disturbing. Perhaps in another story he could have the opportunity to walk in his father's shoes.

Good story. Thanks.

I don't understand the wife

At all. She loves her hubby, has a long happy marriage to him and all of that. She is devastated when he throws her out. She knows he doesn't like the practical jokes, etc. Then, she goes along with such a completely vile one? How is that even remotely funny?
I liked the first story quite a bit. The wife was a mystery, but I liked how the situation presented itself and how the hubby reacted. It made for a crazy tension-filled moment. This story resolved the issue. I get the hubby being ok with the truth, and recognizing the wife's pain and regret and sorrow, etc. I don't even have a problem with him taking her back.
However, he never gets the answers to the real question: why? How could she do that to him, and why? How could that be seen as funny? It was psychological (and physical) torture. Did she even, for a moment, consider what his experience would be under the circumstances? Did she not realize that it would be painful for him, that he would in no way find that funny? Great, she's going to a pychologist to figure out why she did it. I would want those questions answered before agreeing to reconciliation. I mean, what she did was intentionally harm her hubby in a very fundamental way-torture, abuse, hurt-call it what you want. She has a twisted, sadistic side to her that would concern me greatly.
I wish that would have been explored more.
But, I gave the first story 5 stars for creativity and writing style. I give this one 4.

i dont buy it

she was wet aftre the first "joke" she pulls it again - there is no such thing as a lie detector - it monitors a few things but not lying - asking if the had "sex" when there is no specific questions about touching parts of one body with specific parts of the other persons body - the fact is - she needs to be out of his life. i would have forced an arrest, told about the first incident and the second, sent them to prison. filed a lawsuit naming both of them as defendants in false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress and taken every penny i could. then maybe the little woman and i could talk, but not until my "joke" was over.

Well thought out

The finish was a good one -

Like the politician's say she got out ahead of the story by acknowledging her complicity and guilt for doing what she did -

Is it enough - for him yes - and that is the privilege of the author - if you do not like it write your own ending -

Well written by the way - a couple of nice extra curves (like the son supporting mom) nice touch

Decent

Decent ending of your tale. It was smart that you made them move away in the end. A non-cheating wife tale. Very good.

He still should have kicked Roger's ass.

I would have thought about sueing him for the handcuff's injury, his homeowner's liability would have paid out. Under the circumstances (with her statement) I would have taken my wife back.

Weak

Agena, your heart simply wasn't into this story and you just wrote something just to end it and I think you already know it. I loved part 1, it was simply an amazing story and was expecting something similar to conclude it but I found this chapter weak and short.

I already read ch2 by Tx Tall Tales and it was too strong a response to the joke.

One too weak, the other too strong. A shame we didn't get a good balance.

What a dumb fuck!

Lie detectors are not fool proof, that is why they are not admissible in a court of law. I sure wouldn't trust a lying slut virtue on one.

Great ending

The underlying issue was not about sex but loyalty and respect. Anytime there are jokes involve the humiliation of another person there is a risk of hurt feelings and bruised egos. The initiator of the joke should be aware that there is a potential risk to their relationship with the target of their joke as this story demonstrates. The fact that the main characters were married presented the element of a very huge risk on the part of the wife. The story was well presented and described more from the perspective of the target of the joke than the perpetrator. The emotion was huge thru the story and flowed well. The advent of putting the wife and accomplice thru lie detector was high handed and drastic. I was happy with the outcome but more of what the moral issue or theme of humiliation and disrespect of another human being.

Roger should have been charged.....

The police would have taken a very dim view of Roger handcuffing Jim like he did, that would have brought a charge of "Ilegal confinement" at least if not worse.

Great story. Lie detectors aren't full proof, but they aren't easy to beat either.

Great story. While it is true that lie detector tests aren't fool proof, two people taking a test with the same questions is about as good as it can get. No they aren't admissible in court, but to be honest you have a be a real sociopath or a trained liar to beat the test. Getting two people to beat it is almost impossible (unless they are Sharon Stone or CIA agents). Plus, lie detectors are more frowned upon in court because of their false positives (showing an answer as a lie because the person is nervous). An in all honesty, did she seem like a person who was cuckolding her husband? C'mon people. There is being cautious and there is just plain paranoid. On a side note, I am willing to bet that the same people that are saying that Lie Detectors can't be trusted would be taking the results to the bank if it came back that they were lying.

@javmor79: Lie detector tests

I read a study where the scientists came to the conclusion that a polygraph test was about as useful as using a Ouija board.

You really didn't want to write this

and it shows. too bad.
I agree that it all comes down to respect and trust. she lost his respect because of her own actions. she enjoyed disrespecting him with roger. good ole roger deserves some retribution whupped on him.

Rushed and unfulfilling

Your lack of enthusiasm for writing the ending really shows. Great premise and start but you it seems you kind of ran out of steam on the ending. The lack of respect would have ended it for me. Siding with anyone like that against one's spouse is infidelity.

Failed

I really like your stories but in this instance you have 'under-sold' yourself.
You could have written this more from the wife's side and shown just how much her 'joke' had cost her and possibly the various 'tongue-lashings from children, sister & therapist. Would have been a fun story to write -- and why not write it? After-all - isn't that what writing these stories is about? Just do it!

Re-Reading

Moving away is not enough.

First, Roger should be banned from their house for one year, and they should stay away from his house. Alice can come visit without Roger.

When Roger is allowed back, Flo is to have NO involvement with ANY of his practical jokes, even if they aren't aimed at Jim, and if she learns of any aimed at Jim she is to warn him.

If Roger still manages to prank Jim, he is banned for TWO years, and a further offense bans him for life.

by KarenE12/08/14

No Way Forgiveness!

I don't care HOW sorry she is NOW, or how much she realizes she was wrong.

He has made it abundantly clear how he feels about Roger's "jokes", and if his reaction to the "etching" joke wasn't clear enough for her, then there is no hope for her.

I do not like jokers

I wish Jim could find a real good joke to pull on Roger. But the problem is that the Jokers get real upset if the joke is on them . They have so little self esteme that when the joke is on them they want to fight.

There are about four other endings floating around.

Tx Tall Tales wrote the second best but there was one better, I do not remember now who wrote it. Then there are a couple of others. If I remember the best one I will come back and put it on here.

1st chapter = got awfully tired of "perceive."

If they were next-door neighbors, why did our hero get in his car and drive home? This chapter had lots of strange wording = "...you, as my husband,..." Tags sucked. A nice little story, but the 2nd chapter fell way short. Why not have the lie detector guy ask if she had ever cheated with anyone?

Practical jokes aren't about

humor, they are about disrespect. As for the wife joining in and having to be constantly told that the husband of 24 years didn't like it, I call bullshit on that. We hadn't been married a year yet and my wife knew exactly what I would put up with and what I wouldn't put up with. And I knew what her boundaries were. The first few "jokes" would have gotten them a stern talking to. The "etchings" joke would have gotten his head busted open and her a trip to her sister's house with a one way ticket. If and I really mean if, it had gotten to the last joke I would have killed both of them in his basement and swore to God that I was in tremendous fear for my life. That would have been a joke to inspire a really good laugh down the road.

Don't want to be cuckolded, don't put up with that shit for a minute. Wife has to know and respect your boundaries, same for hers.

Sometimes jokes aren't funny

Practical jokers sometimes go too far. In this case the joke nearly destroyed a marriage. Given the circumstances outlined in this story I can understand why the husband would decide to keep her. Even with that being said though I would have to say that they would have a lot of work to do to get anywhere near back to where they were before the jokes began. The biggest positive I see would have to be the fact that the wife starts seeing a therapist. Secondly, even though it is not discussed directly in the story, is that they stopped all contact with the neighbors.
I don't have a problem with how the author ended the story. I still think that the author uses the story to teach an important lesson about going too far with jokes, taking relationships for granted and how hard it is to regain trust once it's lost. I know it's not often mentioned but communication is vital to any relationship, and that means not just talking but actually listening to what the other person says and then taking it to heart.
In another comment someone called the husband a wimp. I don't agree. He was not a wimp, just a man who truly trusted his wife not to hurt him or their marriage. This is why I think everyone should have prenups and firm ground rules on what is and isn't going to be allowed if a couple are to marry. Better to be safe than sorry.

Blah!

Chapter 1 –

He got in his CAR and headed home? I thought they were next door neighbors.

I’m sure Flo has some CLOTHS, but the things she wears are CLOTHES!

Even IF they didn’t do “anything” he told her after the first etchings joke to cut it out, and she totally ignored his wishes. The total lack of respect is pretty close to a deal breaker.

Chapter 2 –

Just TOO neat, with her suddenly coming to understand the wrongness of her actions. Why she didn't realize it after the "necking" incident is beyond me.

2nd or 3rd read

I even read the other renditions of this story. The story and ending is rather neatly put together. I don't see how any ending could be wrong, seeing how there was no prelude to there marriage situation, which would have given more insight into their character. usually practical jokes slow down when you mature, or the joker becomes the victim, and feels what they have been dishing out. I don't think this story is about a practical joke, basically because it wasn't a joke at all. That should be evident to the reader from the necking practical joke, that wasn't.

At this point, after many reads, and thought, I think he should divorce her. Why, because she not only disrespected her hubby, but the marriage itself, and herself. I also think that if he still has the mind that he needs her that much, they could date and start over, but both having a clearer picture of what is involved in a marriage. judging the reaction of the kids, they are going to have their own problems soon also, in not regarding what she did as anything special, and he should forget it. The question of how they came up with their reaction, should give some insight as to how they were raised, or what they saw growing up.

Not Quite!

There's got to be something wrong with their relationship/marriage if she could allow a known practical joker liker Roger sway her to making her husband think that she cheated on him!And that after that whole lipstick thing that he'd made very clear he didn't appreciate. ~ Still think Roger slipped her the tube-steak if,for no other reason than her signature sound of cumming, that she'd be very hard pressed to replicate considering her very distracted state while cumming!

good story

a bit neat for an author, but ok. I don't know how many times I read this story and it's different renditions, but I finally caught the story in the first chapter this time. I commented on it earlier. The fly in the ointment, was an elephant in the ointment. If she was making those keening sounds and they were fake, then what does that say about their 23 years of marriage?

Did he love her, that goes without question. did she love him, now there's a question.

The joke's on you.

There is a old Mexican expression that goes-" Entre broma y broma la verdad se asoma". Translation- in every joke a grain of truth shows up. That grain of truth is that she had already cuckolded her husband in her mind. Familiarity breeds contempt and she was filled with contempt for her husband. Any time a woman takes up with another man against her husband she has crossed the line into adultry. She did get royally fucked by the neighbor and she knows it. He is a slow witted husband who is willing to accept her pack of lies and lay down like a whipped dog. Why didn't he raise her dress and put some fingers into her twat when they turned him loose? He would have found all the proof he needed. A twat full of semen.

Yes Roger And Flo Were Guilty

Cuckolding her husband by handcuffing Ron and torturing his mind and emotions and making him helpless to the torture makes them guilty of infidelity. Each of Roger's jokes become increasingly more ruthless and demeaning. And Flo's continued participation makes keeping her as his wife exponentially impossible. Flo has proven that she wants Ron in her life only as a cuckold. A cuckold is nothing more than a pet...no longer a husband to be respected and loved.

Nice story but a lot of things were left unresolved.

First of all I have nothing against reconciliation stories. I like them when they are believable and when the author success to show the real motivation behind what happened. This is not the case. As Many pointed out, her willing participation in those horrid jokes showed that she didn't loved and respected her husband. And the she also had adultery in her mind. Ineed more background about what lead her to do what she did and why is she so remorseful. I think he took her back really quick.

Two Things

First, Jim should have told his kids to shut up and butt out, period. Meddling kids
usually only make marital problems worse. There's an old saying, kids should be
seen and not heard. And that goes double when they're trying to insert themselves
into a marital squabble. Secondly, Jim should find Roger and beat the holy fucking
cowboy shit out of him. I'm talking broken arms, broken legs, crushed fingers, and
a face that looks like a truck ran over it.
I'm just sayin'......

good story

I don't know how many times I have read this story, and all of its re-writes by different authors. It's still good. They say that the highest compliment is being copied, and this story certainly has that. Personally I probably would have taken her back, but that's me. Some of the other renditions where edited, and filled in a lot of questions that the readers had, that were not in this original story. Each edition changed the complexion of the story for me. Oh well, great story, as written, read the other editions to see how the story changes, just by filling in some details.

Re-Reading

From Ch 01: "what bothered me even more was Flo's enjoyment of his pranks, especially if I was on the receiving end" - So, even before the "etchings" incident she 1) knew he didn't like his pranks, and 2) enjoyed his pranks ESPECIALLY when Jim was the target. Now, I'll cut her a LITTLE slack that she maybe didn't quite realize just how much they bothered Jim, but how in the hell can she take special enjoyment in her husband being pranked? She should be standing by him, not laughing with Roger.

Now, KNOWING her husband is bothered by the pranks, again maybe not realizing just how much, she actually participates in one! This time, Jim leaves ZERO doubt about how much he is bothered. Now she KNOWS for a 100% sure fact that he doesn't find ANYTHING funny about this. So what does she do? She ups the ante! She participates in an even MORE extreme prank that totally humiliates and injures her husband, and he takes her back? Sorry, not buying it.

IF he is going to take her back, she should have to do a "Game of Thrones" walk of shame - he shears all her hair off, and she walks naked from one end of their street to the other! If she is really sincere in her apology she will do it, but I doubt that she would!
