lyrical

melancholy, honest, beautiful. lovably sad.

I submit this comment not as a poet or a cheerleader but because the words made a true connection. Thank you, UYS, for the gift.

I read this poem earlier and thought, "Oh, some silly poem with moon, stars, fluttering wings, and whatever." I tend to read some poems too quickly and I also judge them too quickly. I decided to come back and try this one again. There are some lines that intrigue me and make me realize there is more to it. I'd like to read a poem of yours, telling me more about the story. "Seeing stories in her head/Why don't they put her away/be with others like her?/Talks to herself you know/isn't right in the head"

I like this poem. I can say that, can't I? ;) Seriously, I enjoyed the tone, the airiness and mercurial qualities was appealing. WickedEve has some good suggestions and I believe they would make your good poem better. Thanks submitting this.

Love the comparisons

between the favored changling child and the child some would judge as "damaged." I've taught severely disabled children, and I honestly believe many of the fey magical qualities you describe can be found in abundance in some of these children, if only one will slow down and listen long enough to discover them. All human souls are beautiful, and I love that you've communicated this sentiment. Well done! :-)

Touched

Our predatory society leaves so many children (and adults) behind. With more souls like yours we could be better people.
