A touch of cute faux innocence. Though the human version of the cuckoo's tale (the cuckold) is not quite as cute or innocent.
It's my favorite poem today. It's such a wonderful marriage of cute and creepy. Great writing! Your poem has been recommended in the New Poems Reviews thread on Literotica's Poetry Feedback and Discussion forum. Thanks for the read! :-)

To my ear, it has something of a Blakean sound, reminiscent of the Songs of Experience. Very nice. I would suggest one change, however: The phrase "This nut brown soul" seems a little unclear as to whether it refers to the cuckoo or to the mother bird and perhaps could benefit from a more specific pronoun. Also, perhaps, make it "nut-brown." A very good poem, though.
the flavor of dark wisdom found in non sanitized folk tale.
Dark humor, and effective...Brrrr.
The brown creature is the unlucky mama bird (check her activities and the colors).
