Nicely Written, But...


I would like to have given this a higher rating than 3 stars, however, you seem to be one of an increasingly large number of American writers, all making the same mistake in your writing.

You write, "couple cars", and in the very next paragraph, "couple minutes". Take a look at those words as they stand on their own. See anything wrong?

That's right, you've left something out. You should have "couple of cars" and "couple of minutes". Were you to submit something like that to a publisher, you would never hear the end of it! You'd be back in Nevada, tail between your legs, and they'd still be laughing.

English isn't really that difficult a language, but simple, lazy mistakes such as these are making it more difficult than it should be.
