Good writing

I liked the style of writing a lot. Whether it works overall will depend on how well you plot the surrounding story but there's certainly enough writing talent from that snipped. Nice mix of description and action and good choice of words. The only bit I didn't like was the use of 'hot spots' - for some reason that jarred in the overall style of writing. I'd have liked to see another adjective than 'hot'.
