This is really good, Tess. First thing I thought about was an antique poetry book I have. Your poem has the same feel to it as some of the poems I've read over the years. The rhyme works really well. Very smooth. Also, your poem made me think of someone I knew who took his life years after being in Vietnam. Anyway, it's good poem and you should find some other e-zines (or print) for it.
what is there to say
except exceptionally well written and honest. War is horrible.
Appropriately posted today, even though perhaps not a day of remembrance in your area of this great Earth.
My Granny told me that my Papa would have awful nightmares about the bombs, he was a runner in the infantry, carried messages through the trenches and it changed him.
Thank you for such a lovely poem. It made me think of someone I loved very much.
