Interesting story, but it sounds like you got your temporal mechanics all wrong.
If you subscribe to current thinking, there's only one past. So if he was in the past at about the same time she was, then they would meet. No if, and/or, buts.
Not bad otherwise. Watch your paragraphing. You don't start new paragraphs when you change ideas, and switched like is to if and such.
