I think he knew that she was cheating all along and just turned a blind eye towards it. Not wanting to even think about what she was doing and hoping it would just go away,until she just threw it in his face, by leaving the bedroom the way she had. Now that he can no longer deny what she has been up to, he has to deal with the problem, and being a proud man he will probably not want to be easy towards her and with the way he deals with his hurt. I think he is way beyond: " Forgive your brothers and sisters for their transgressions" or "The truth will be your salvation". If he could get her to tell the truth, he would probably find that she was never faithful, and has cheated on him for years. He just didn't want to catch her, and she got to the point where she thought that he would except her as a cheating slut, and that's why she got caught. The only issue I see is with Mr. Wonderful. First of all, he calls his wife of 17yrs a stranger. She may have committed adultery; but that doesn't make her a stranger. She's obviously looking for something that Mr. Wonderful isn't providing because if he was truly satisfying her, she wouldn't be going somewhere else.

When you were growing up, I'll bet your nickname was Stupid. The guy didn't jump to SHIT. Go back and read what was written. The author explained his logic clearly. The guy realized that there was no Earthly reason for her to strip that bed...
