I've noticed a discrepancy between ratings and 'goodness' myself. I feel your pain.

Indeed. After examining an awful lot of the stories on this site, I've pretty much concluded that most of the time the 'quality' of a story is being judged by many readers solely on whether they agree with the plot or not. One small disagreement with the ending, or some detail of the story line, and it's a low score.<br><p>

A well-written story: be damned! A new or unique idea: be damned! Decent spelling, punctuation, all of the technical elements: be damned!<br><P>

Of course, most of THEM have never tried to write a new and unique piece of fiction, they've never struggled to give a story plausibility. And they've never tried to do it again, and then once more, and yet another time! LOL!

...that those of us who simply agree with your conclusion are pumping you up toward one of those overrated red H's...

You don't seem to understand that it isn't how you write that makes normal people unhappy and even angry.<P>

When your subject alienates by ridiculous twisted contortion no matter the pretty words all arranged in a row you still lose the respect of those you write for in two ways.<P>

A degrading disrespectful subject and the wasted talent. Much is expected from talented people. If the only emotion you engender is discomfort or anger at the ridiculous braindead people acting weirdly - sickly beneath the norm then you missed the mark intended by all rational writers.<P>

Unless you write for the sicko's addicted to humiliation.<P>

So "H"s are but a measurement that day at that moment. However more meaningful are the expressed feelings towards the aggregate body of work that sends the message of customer entertainment appreciation or dismayed readers silently voicing their displeasure of the wasted opportunity.<P>

So far you are intentionally wasting the time of most.

my experience was the opposite, but apparently I do most things wrong. When I checked out your work and realized it was well done (despite some of the subject matters that others found not to their liking), I was surprised to see that your library was not decorated with a string of red H's. Which to me proved what should be obvious in the way you excellently laid out, that H's may mean something or they may not. Likewise with an absence of same.

You were able to clearly explain how to become a Sood Writer. It's still not clear where or how an author acquires Profles.

full-on reckoning of the red-H-fundamentalism too many users are deploying lately, not missing out the humor and irony- though it may have been overstated by the end. after the first 4 paragraphs you'd me rattling around my room in my boss's chair. then the mathematic disruption. and, well, a little too eager ranting in the end.

I love this article. Witty, and funny! You are indeed a very good writer - great! What I find sad is that this loser commenter may have had put a bad taste for Literotica in your mouth, as I see your last submission was in '09. I would love to read some of your new work, if you are still writing.
