Really Good Advice for Noobs

Good advice for beginning "afficianados" of erotic literature of all kinds.

Hardest thing to do to is to rotate your stash. I mean don't amass great piles of stuff. Throw out the older when you get new. There is so much out there you'll not miss it. Plus you could start you own "special" folder for the truely good one to you. I've been into porn for the past 30 years and there is new stuff every day. I still enjoy it after all these years.

Not hot, but important

I rated this a 100%, not because it's "steamer", but because it's important.

Another tip is simple. Encryption. If you encrypt EVERYTHING, then it won't stand out. And when DHS takes a look at your laptop, they can't see squwat! PGP costs a little money, but it's well spent. If you're comfortable with command line, GPG is free.

My Ideas

Good Idea for an article.

I personally surf with 2 different browsers. Firefox for most surfing and Explore 8 for porn. Explorer 8 has an "InPrivate" option where it stores no info.

On my hard drive I keep the option to keep hidden folders hidden and then I keep a non descript directory under another directory ie. c:\windows or C:\system or for more security \My documents\etc\etc\etc (not to be taken literally :) ).

When I want to view it, I simply change file attributes for the whole directory or untick hidden files property.

Hope it's not too confusing for everyone.

I'd be interested to hear anyone elses ideas :)

Too late.

Wish I'd read this before my (ex)wife found mine. She's given me a very expensive lesson about the value of computer security.

Great advice...and not just for noobs!

One more thing: Google's Chrome browser also has a "Incognito" mode, in which you can open up a browser window that doesn't save history or transmit cookies. It won't allow you to save a password or anything like that, and you can't do bookmarks in Incognito mode (that kind-of defeats the point), but it is private -- except for Google searches, that is!

All clear, simple and well thought out

From the 'beginners' to those with more experience, everyone should read and reread this to ensure they are taking the basic steps that can avoid a huge amount of embarrassment.

good article

Seems to me that Windows is so trackable so I have been using Linux for the last 8 years, PCLinuxOS for the last two. I have my own regular user account which is open all the time and a 'Junk' user which is my porn addiction user that only I know the password to.

Nice ideas.

Luckily, I'm not one of the people who needs these ideas -- but they are good ideas nonetheless.
