Very good start
Definitely a different twist, even if it's obvious what will eventually happen, but the pleasure is in the journey, not just the arrival. One suggestion - make the chapters a bit longer. Those of us reading this type of story can quite easily concentrate for ten minutes (two pages)!

Great Start To First Story
I enjoy a wide variety of stories, Romance is among my faves when written well. Your first chapter is very professionally written. I liked the point of view from both people. I know I will enjoy future chapters on how their feelings develop for each other. The small town I grew up in had a State School for the Deaf (that was the title years ago) and I'm familiar with how that school's lodgings were organized, so that gave me a good feel for the set up of your school for the blind. I also enjoy that you have two characters that I can care about and like and pull for their romantic success.
