Well Done
I really enjoyed the layers and parallels in this one. Both Jang and the reader think they know what's going to happen, and both Jang and the reader are wrong. The way that his responses were both trained and authentic at the same time, but for different reasons, was a nice addition. Thanks for a good read.
authentic problems
I like the story except Chinese women don't wear kimono or wrap themselves with obi
the robe is shenyi or ruqun is comon for women has two pieces and just a belt
Kimono and obi are japanese and some older Chinese don't like Japanese people because of the war

A very good story, but always with Chinese stories of this time,
I have trouble in accepting what ordinary people had to put up with, for the enjoyment of the powerful (rich / aristocrats / monarchy);
