Excellent
Thank you for this story. Very absorbing, and almost flawlessly written.
It was nice to read about this kind of loving wife.
Serious Literature
This is writing talent and skill
far, far above what's usually found
here, or elsewhere.
Did you hear this sung by a ghostly
choir at midnight, Dr. Leverkuhn?
I'd believe it.
Thank you
Amazing story, amazingly well written.
Wow! Very very nice...
Refreshing: a story about real humans, adventure, real problems... well done!
Thank You!
Thank you for a tale of real human emotions. Welcome and well received by this Bay Area sailor waiting for his next cruise...
Nice story
I really liked this. Refreshing and interesting. I enjoy your work.
Well done.
Thank you for an enjoyable story.
Wow
Great story telling!
outstanding!
One doesn't have to know a great deal about sailing (that would be "me") to follow this story, and I found it to be awesomely written. Touching, on so many levels.
-- KK in Texas (and yes, we have a coastline and sailboats here, too)
Beautiful
That was a really lovely story. Thank you for sharing it.
very descriptive
A very descriptive story. I felt as if I was there. Wonderful story line with characters who were real.
One of the best stories of the year so far . . .
Maybe even one of the best written stories on Lit! Beautiful prose, good plot, reads very easily, almost no spelling errors. A few minor mistakes about prostate cancer but in a story, it's forgivable. Now I'll read some other stories by this author. Please write some more. This is a refreshing change from the kinky, cuckold 3-some stories one often finds in the LW category. Thank you.
The author is a brilhant stylist
and the story is fascinating from beginning to end.
Thanks for writing it!
Amazingly Good Story
Well written, intriguing and just plain fantasticly awesome. JimDinMn
Well Done
Well conceived, well executed, insightful, and damnably articulate. It brings memories of "The Old Man And The Sea". I envy the author.
I'm over 60, long past the age where I thought I was invincible. A few years ago, however, I witnessed my older brother, whom I thought would never die, be ravaged and die in a shockingly short time from pancreatic cancer. More recently, my younger sister lost a kidney to cancer but escaped its deadly spread. I now have a deeper appreciation for life and death. On the other hand, I know that the "Shark" is out there waiting for me, and I hope that when it comes for me that I can face it with the strength and grace that the protagonist here demonstrated.
Well done!
Great read
A refreshing surprise. It's obvious you are a blue water sailor. The small details made it very realistic and interesting for me...another blue water sailor.
agree with best story of the year so far
Thank you!
Great story
I can't agree more with all the other comments. Wonderful story, create emotions.
Worth reading again! I am sure I will!!!!
Beautiful
Beautifully written and exciting. Perfect in every way. Love the detail and the loyality of the characters and the Orca's.
Great
Having read and enjoyed many of your stories, I am fascinated how often you feature the sea and the many creatures that dwell in it. I wonder if you were "saved' by a dolphin or one of the higher functioning ones.

Exceptional
A lesson for those who not only read but hear how it's done.
The noise around this work is emotion woven by two then doubled as their lives change once again.
The touch - the pitch - the depth plus the words of feeling something new and worse then better with unsaid time to live it out.
Thanks Author - You are Very Much Appreciated.
With Extremely High Regard
More please
Wow, that was such a good story so captivating and well written. It was totally by accident that I started reading it as I don’t normally read the “Loving Wives” category, but this was so good that I MUST now read all of your submissions.
Kathryn
Masterful
Short stories are the most difficult writing to create. Adrian, you are a master.
Like your others, this one is a gift worth more than the time needed for reading it.
wow! just fooking wow! EXCEPTIONAL!!
Vulcan in Ohio is 1000% correct. Best story of the year so far. A stunning piece of exceptional writing AND ...more importantly... story telling.
If I could give this story a 200 I would
Amazing!
Thank You!
Cosmic connections with whales
I have always been at awe when it comes to these mythological yet real creatures. The bond between humans and animals of all kinds and sizes -especially in the wild -reflects on our place on earth in general. I was very moved by the story of the saving of the baby whale and I am wondering how much truth there is to it.
The stylistic allusion to Hemingway is unavoidable of course. At times though it was a bit overdone...
I was left with the sense that the strongest part was about the relations between man and nature. I felt that I knew much less about each character and the relations between them, but perhaps it was not the focal point in a story about a man and a woman in the midst of wild nature.
Bravo!
Another extraordinary story from the best author I have read at the site.
Thank you
Still have a tear in my eye. Thank you
Very well done!
Much enjoyed by one who understands.
Simply awesome!
There are no words...thank you for the entertainment.
great story
"My God," he said softly, "what a miracle to have just been what I've been... to have done what I've done. To have just been... me."
I, too, am ready. but stop living until then.
Thank you
The best author in this site never ceases to surprise me.... Thank you so much for making my long lonelly nights somewhat bearable.
Sweet!!
u got the mad skillz dood
What a wonderful story!
My only question is: why is it on a porn site? Incredible.
Fantastic
I really love your writing. I'm now on the 'L's........
What a beutiful sea saga
With all the turmoil in LW these days I wish this had been posted in Romance, just to avoid the controversy. It is a romantic tale of a couple who suffer through the adversities of life while on the high seas. And a romance with the sea and the creatures who's domain we are fortunate to share.
If voting was allowed 5*****'s would not be enough. This just became one of my very "Favorite" stories.
For readers who want a praiseworthy short story, this is it.
Thank you Adrian Leverkuhn, I will read more, hoping to find others as good as this.
Really Great Story
Really enjoyed the interaction, the setting and spontaneity.
Easily identified with the characters.
Thanks and please keep writing!
Fucking Awesome!
Wow, AL, you have a way with words, and capturing the emotions of a long loving couple. What a story you weave, thx so much for your efforts.
Damned Good
A very clever story with real meaning to it and very well written.
Thank you,
HP
The Standard
I had once thought to write a story set on a sail boat. I doubt that I will do that now. The standard of excellence has been established and I suspect that I could not match it.
Thank you
Thank you for the read author. I don't know how I missed this one. It brought back such great memories. With such realism. My wife and I spent 8 years on a 42 ft. ketch up and down the eastern Carib. No real long passages like those in your story [Our max was 7 days) but I do understand the feeling. Hearing the dolphins breathing beside you in the dark and then looking over to seeing them and their trails light up with the phosphorescence was fantastic. We still look at boats and think. Sigh. But sadly we did loose a few friends on that journey. Thank you for the story. a 5
Extremely well written, and R rated to boot!
Too much of the stuff on this site is dribble: little plot and less wit. It's a pleasure to read a story with a real plot and literary substance, character development, and an extensive use of adjectives- properly used adjectives. And miraculously, it's R rated! We as writers are told to write what we know and, from this story, you know both sailing and writing well. Great story!
Great story!
There are a few authors on this site who really write excellent literature! This story is one of them!! This is the first of your stories that I have read. Now I'm going to your list and read some more. Hope more of them are this good!
Bloody good.
Thank you.
THANK YOU !
Thank you for your time, talent, knowledge of sailing, and really fine writing skills.
This may be the best of what I have read on this site.
There is only one suitable comment.
Excellent.
love, redemption, mysticism, and
just a bit of humour.
But, AL if you get a moment for a response, from the description of the blow delivered by the male Orca, how can the shark still be circling, waiting, out there?
RB's comment regarding the shark...
