habit and familiarity

there was this history, and habit was a part of it. the choice, completely cut off from it or find a way to deal with it. that latter option was selected. the facts were so dramatic that it was outrageous in my opinion. a decent and generous guy that found a good solution to his dilemma. AND the loss of the women, perhaps better to have some meaning relative to the whole situation with x wife

He has a woman that lies to him, cheats on the marriage, has sex with others, betrays his trust, and is an adulterer for her really doesnt know how long (did he get a DNA test on he kid?). Then he is supposed to roll over to a woman who hated him and herself enough to cheat on herself, him, and their marriage. Get real folks, it has nothing to do with his pride. "I didn't know if I should leave to save my pride" it has to do with a woman that chose to cheat on her marriage and place herself and thereby him in harms way because of financial, physical, and medical danger. 30 years invested in trash that claims to love you is just time spent on trash. You dont take trash back into your home you throw it in the dump and get on with your life.

jsut shot me out of the blue for no reason after living with her for 30 years. She says she still loves me and wants to be with only me but she did shoot me. I guess since we have been together 30 years I will accept she could shoot me again any time for no reason and just keep on loving her and living with her knowing she loved me so little she actually shot me the first time. Very good for a first effort

If this is your first effort I thought it was better then average, both in skill and style. That fact that you made your decision based on what you wanted and not to accommodate the story eliminates any arguement with the outcome. The author just decided that being alone was worse then living with a woman who has all ready shown her willingness to screw around on him. Also when his son threatened to withhold access to his grandson he should have changed who handled the lottery winnings. No reason to pay him 50k to be an ass. anon jerry

For a first story I thought this was well developed and well structured. I'm in the age group but don't suffer from erectile dysfunction. I can relate to the situation and found the story interesting. Some technical problems exist; i.e. no health insurance. A Navy vet is covered by CHAMPUS. Also, as a condition of the divorce she could have been required to maintain health coverage for her former spouse as well as paying him a support payment, if her income had exceeded his.
I did enjoy the story and will be reading more from this author in the future.

I like your style of writing, I really do. On those occasions when you choose to have a plot where the husband basically wimps out and takes back a cheating slut wife it just ruins the story for me. It might be helpful if you'd put a "wimp alert" at the start of your story when you choose to do this.

There are never any reasons good enough to take back a cheating slut wife. I've lived it and I know.

No, I don't think your main character is a wimp. Had he folded initially he would have been but in the final analysis, what was it two, three years later, he got his pound of flesh. Its not like the old lady didn't suffer. Sometimes ya jus gotta let it go. Good story, good writing. It's all fiction...right? See, you did such a good job I can't tell the difference.

Taking her back was a wimpy, limp-wrist-ed thing to do. The character shows himself to have no morals. His son should have been told to go to hell with his stepmother if he thought more of her than his own flesh and blood. By siding with the slutty stepmother he shows he is no better than her. "Pride was hurt"?

I'm paraphrasing a line of the story here. Why do many of you reconciliation writers always dismiss the wronged parties feelings this way? It's not hurt pride, its the fact that the cheater has done something morally offensive. It has nothing to do with pride. Sometimes you run across something that is morally repugnant and you have to draw the line. Don't belittle it as HURT PRIDE. Having a moral compass, ethics and a back bone is something to be proud of not to be ridiculed over.

Pride?

Good story about a cheating wife, divorce, getting on with life and finding that you miss your best friend and restore that friendship after 5 years of living a lonely life. Six months later they started having sex again. What's wimpy about that?

Didn't enjoy the ending

His son was playing "do as I say or I'll keep your grandson from you" games ? I'd have thrown him off my property instantly and disowned the pathetic loser. I hated my in-laws, but so long as they did not pose a danger to my sons I took my boys to every family event and kept my mouth shut. I owed it to my kids to NEVER keep them away from their grandparents, however useless they were.

Don't bad mouth those who think "payback" is reasonable.

If you haven't been there, don't shoot your mouth off about some who believe a cheating spouse (either sex) deserves some payback. If you have had it done to you in real life, you get a real appreciation of how much it damages your image of yourself and your confidence in yourself.

Most know my tag to be one that rails against WACC stories (Wuss Ass Castrated Cuckold). In this case there is no Wimp here. You wrote his actions perfectly and saved his pride and manhood. And it's a good thing you did that having made him an ex SEAL, just aks Bin Laden!!!!!

But it was in expectation. You did the whole 'revenge on the company' thing in 3 short paragraphs. It was...lacking

Here is what I would have done as a story teller. Instead of half cocked, screaming in the phone crap, I'd have had the P.I.s dealing with EVERYONE. The quarterly meetings were pure divorce lawyer gold. Heck, he probably had a half dozen pictures on his camera with other employees in the background in various states of undress. Check the management types too. Their affairs will be more discrete but more lucrative.

Then, on one single day, send the photos, information to every single cheated on spouse. Have a flurry of process servers go out with your suits, naming every single person that knew about what was going on as a witness or co-conspirator.

This is expensive.

Second way was to take the wife's company registry and call every single spouse, identify ones' self and tell them in glorious detail about the private room, all the conversations he had heard, and that this was 'a lot of spouses' and not just one or two. Send pictures. Carefully say the he couldn't ensure their spouse was cheating, but it was something for them to look into...

Then, guilty innocent or not, the entire company would EXPLODE! The innocent ones would be working like hell to keep their marriages intact and pissed at the guilty ones they knew about. The guilty ones would be doing the same, but with more or less success. Lawsuits would be flying all over the place! Key people would be quiting, many of them innocent and not wanting to get involved in the shitstorm. The company would dissolve...and it didn't require a lottery ticket for it to work.

Like I said, it seemed a bit thin on the resolution phase. But I enjoyed your writing. Thank you.

Ongoing physical revenge for Henry was there with some finical ruin for icing, check.
Emotional revenge (self inflicted) on Jenny with a little bit of Sugar Daddy Harem Pimp thrown in for flavor, check.
A reconciliation with fewer legal restraints and a possible stronger relationship with you partner, ongoing.

Lack of resolution and motivation

I try not to judge LW/cheating stories by whether I agree with the characters' decisions. But, I need for their motivations to make some sense .I don't feel like the characters ever resolved anything. I also didn't understand motivation. What was the point of the law suit against the company? If it was payback, wouldn't not settling and draggin them through an embarrassing trial be more effective (they didn't need the money)? As another commenter stated, how about getting some PIs at the meetings and letting all hell break loose with photos and videos. Also, the two big issues for hubby (besides the cheating itself, of course), were the humiliating aspect of her doing it rather openly with a coworker, around other coworkers (the party room mini-orgy, e.g., do they work for Playboy?), and the fact that the wife was sorry he found out, but never expressed sorrow for her decision to cheat in the first place. I would also add the insult of her shacking up with her lover after the divorce. Those issues are never resolved by the characters, except that the hubby seems to feel sorry for the wife's obvious sadness and suffering, and that he misses her. Why divorce her at all then? She didn't want the divorce, and was suffering for being caught (at least), and he knew he would miss her terribly. The author missed a chance for them to address these issues-instead focussing on screwing the former employer for firing her from a job she didn't need, then magically reuniting because they missed each other.
