Bob Should Really Take A Hard Look At His Actions

What would he have done had the situations been reversed? I think he has some soul-searching to do, and should re-think why Julie might have reasons not to trust HIM.

Bob and his ego, a perfect couple.

Julie and Bob would have never gotten back together if she had told him about the scratch she put on his Mustag or that she had touched his golf clubs. Julie knows Bob's history as a pussy hound; she hears rumors; and then she sees him kissing a hot babe. She gets angry and locks the doors. Then Bob, the pussy hound, says, "How dare you." He needs to see a shrink. How is Bob's fragile personality going to deal with his wife's PMS? Is he going to file for divorce if he comes home to find pink flowered sheets on the bed? Marriage is a estrogen minefield so put on your ego kevlar and get a grip!

This comment is really late, but I just read this story as best my memory allows. My take is the husband was a total idiot and a hot head. Frankly he doesn't deserve his wife and she made a mistake going back to him, not that she is without fault. It will just happen again because he lets his anger over rule everything he knows and eventually they will divorce. The truth was staring him in the eye for months and he just cut off his nose to spite his face. Anyone that dumb deserves to end up single.

it was easier to empathize with...

the antagonist julie rather than the protagonist bob. julies reaction seemed pretty normal, even in the LW universe. read any other story and you'll see the cuck "trusting but verifying". anyway, making incongruous character roles is just bad form. especially from the 1st person perspective. 2 stars.

Undeserved Credit

Marvin Gaye was not the first to use your title saying. This phrase was around long before Marvin was a gleam in his daddy's eyes. My grandmother used this phrase quite frequently and said she heard it from her grandfather. Since I am over 60 years old, this phrase has been in use for at least 140 years. Just because someone wrote it down doesn't mean they coined it.

Otherwise, you are usually a good writer. Sometimes, you are overly simplistic in your phraseology, other times you get overly complicated. A good editor will help you even things out, and make you a better writer.

This guy is a flaming asshole! Honestly!

She jumped to conclusions. She said things hastily in anger. She got REALLY MAD.

Right.

So...he misleads his wife about where he is going.

He is seen taking a drunken girl somewhere.

His wife is a bit peeved to say the least. She does something stupid.

He then starts SCREAMING at her (yes, she was screaming at him. Why is it wrong for her to scream at him, but okay for him to scream at her?) and BREAKS DOWN TWO DOORS, apparently chasing his wife though the house. Now...if this were real life, usually it would mean a short trip to the hospital for the woman involved. But he doesn't do that. He yells at her some more and threatens divorce.

So...HALF AN HOUR LATER, she's already apologizing for her stupidity. THIRTY MINUTES. She ignores what he did and is APOLOGIZING. Full tilt rug crawl kiss feet apologies.

And he continues with the divorce. For THREE MONTHS he continues with the divorce.

And when she BEGS for forgiveness once again (after a hundred phone calls...after three letters...after crawling to his friends to intercede) he TURNS HER DOWN!

What exactly did she have to do? Self flaggalate herself in public? Shave her head? Tattoo 'stupid bitch' on her forehead?

But despite this, he STILL takes another 3 weeks to pull his head out of his ass...despite his BROTHER telling him that he's an ass and he's wrong.

Why she still wants him is the incredible thing to me.

And Bill still needs to be eaten by rabid zombie dachshunds.

On both sides and learn to communicate. And get an editor or better proof reader. And never use "this is a true story or based on real life" as a plot contrivance. It's not convincing and is irritating.

I swear 50% of the problems between people here in Literotica could be solved if the participants just sat down and TALKED to each other. Good story about knee jerk reactions and the fall-out from those reactions.

Hypocrisy

The key to this story is the fact that she jumped to conclusions and never asked him what was going on with respect to Bill's relationship sabotage and Sandy. The question is not how the author stated it but rather whether he will be happier with her now or without her where long term she is a women who jumps to conclusions and takes actions without communicating or finding out the truth. Short term and short-sightedly the answer is as in the story; long term, the answer is almost certainly to take the pain now rather than suffer slow long term anguish. 2 stars only

For the life of me I can't understand why there is such a huge disparity in quality between your various published works. This story was really painful to read at times, because the quality of the writing is poor. That's such a huge disappointment, because I know that you can do so much better.

Bottom line is trust

Sorry folks I don't see this the way most of you do! #1. She is listening to an asshole at work that wants to get into her pants and has a vendetta against her husband. Yet she never tells the husband about him! #2. When the gf Josie called she didn't ask for any information about why they were meeting! she automatically made the assumption something was going on. #3. When he wanted to talk she basically attacked him and locked him out. #4. He is a fool to take her back because the next time it will be easier for her to walk away!

Trust is vital

She did not have enough of it and he needed more than a little -

Was he right?? who cares he was right for him then - and then he learned to righter still. But the point he made is valid - how he dealt with the issue is up to each of us to decide when it is our turn.

They made it work and I think they chose wisely - but also doubt he would have been happy if he just said "well okay then let's go home" after the first apology. He needed time and all the facts that he did not have - he well might have had them sooner but whatever - with out them he could not ignore what she did by convicting him and abandoning him.

Excellent story for married couples

Taking a hard look at this story, trust is key, a main ingredient to marriage, mix love and understanding and commitment. Here, an outsider, even though a coworker of Julie's, none the less a coworker. This outsider gave false information (lies) to Julie about Bob. His motives were clear, the fault became Julie's for not approaching Bob on the matter OR this false tales spoken about Bob. Bob is right a criminal is given more chances to prove themselves innocent, while a lie or rumor or gossip will doom a spouse as a cheater or liar before any evidence is presented. Julie is lucky that Bob did come to his senses and decided the marriage was worth a second chance. I hope if this is from first hand accounts, that Julie did not seek any revenge by going and doing something foolish with this coworker (Bill). I saved this story, reminds me what is important in marriage and yes, there are people just like this Bill in the story in our work places and everyday lives, including neighbors and friends. How many friends or so called friends came between our loves in our pasts? great job with the story. should be a 10

Well, I think the real

question here is not that tired old one about whether his life would be better with or without her in it but whether he could live with himself if he put up with the fact that Bill had more influence on his marriage than he did. If he was an equal partner in the marriage she would have come to him right away when Bill started his campaign. But since he was only 1/4 vested in his own marriage, she had 1/2 of all the stock in the marriage and he and Bill had 1/4 each or maybe Bill had 30% and he had 20%. Anyway between Julie and Bill they seemed to run the marriage into the ground at that particular point in time. And even after she saw the error in her thinking, this time, she would have fallen for the same thing again. No respect for her husband, no regard for his fidelity and no loyalty to him when push came to shove. Maybe he interpreted what he saw at that party wrong, maybe the touching and inappropriate closeness wasn't one sided.

Well written, engaging and I didn't think he should have taken her back, will happen again.

i hope they never have kids. what she shouldve done was talk to her husband first. also she shouldve told him about her boss talking shit. what he shouldve done was when she called the first time to say she was sorry, he shouldve talked to her. found out about her boss, then accept her apology.he also shouldve had her make a complaint to her HR dept. about her boss and if they did nothing then have her find another job. i guess this makes to much sense for these 2 dipshits. i dont think they will be married for long.

She doesn't trust him. When he has late meetings or has to go out of town on business, will she always wonder if he's cheating? She tried to lock him out of their home. Will he ever forget that? They may like one another and be upset now, but it's better to figure out now, before they have kids, that they really aren't right for each other. She'll always remember his look of rage and remember how frightened she was. That will never go away. Time to get divorced. And drop the "true" story stuff. My only gripe with Bob

is that he was too hard on himself. I have been falsely accused of wrongdoing, and it's hell. In the meeting with Mark and Sandy et al, Julie should have been asked what she will bring to the relationship other than, "Gee whiz, I'm sorry." What's she going to do the next time she's angry, in spite of her saying she won't do it again? She should have to come up with an acceptable solution. Bill needs to be dealt with severely, not physically as much as in the wallet.

Bill is a first class ass

If he would have been up front with his wife and told her the problem with Sandy in the first place and invited her along to help talk to her, none of this would have happened. Instead, he says he's going to have a drink with Mark. What would he think if his wife told him she was going out for drinks with a girl from work and he saw his drunk wife being loaded into a car by Bill from work? Would he jump to a conclusion? You betcha he would. All he had to do is talk to Julie and they could have figured this all out without all the drama. With his attitude this marriage is doomed.
