I have long been a reader of your poems. I have mostly enjoyed them, and I think I get your style, but as much as I enjoy reading you, this first line is too much. "Having recently been re-reading "Steppenwolf" "
otherwise,.... :)
If just for the richness and teasing our minds...
But there was more...I love this kind of narratives - rhymed or not which flow with the ease of free association and yet have the coherency of an essay. Somehow the order emerges from the chaos as you progress with the reading...
As far as putting my finger on the side of a rhymed essay or a poem, I remained divided to the end. But (as you may conclude from my score) classification issues do not usually stand at the top of my criteria as far as judging a poem, or any other work of art for that matter.
Still, I found myself very satisfied with the ending lines as they summarized the poem while saluting to poetry in a way that only a beautiful metaphor can: "and so like a literary moon/ I reflect the sun of/Herman Hesse".
