I certainly believe you can be pregnant and not know it, but that seems to *usually* happen with larger women, and I gather Lily is more on the slender side. I can, however, say second-hand that the guy and his wife who ran a coffee shop near my old job were surprised by a baby, and she was a very slim woman. I realize I haven't read the previous chapters but I can say -- things move at a confusingly fast rate in this chapter.
Pregnant and not know it
Yes you can be pregnant and not know nor look it. There is a television show that is called "I didn't know I was pregnant", I believe it's on the discovery channel. There have been slender women (one being a popular singer in Ireland) who weighed 120 pounds through out her entire pregnancy. It happens a lot more than people think.

I have sister in law who didn't know she was pregnant until about 7 months and delivery premature. She's tall and yeah it can happen. Usually this happens to tall, non stick skinny individuals. If you have irregular periods, you might not realize. I think perhaps a premie would have leads to more realism but it does happen.
