Rather complicated for most Lit readers, but it all makes sense to me.

I think this is a severely overcomplicated explanation.

Quite simple, really

It's probably different for each crossdresser. Some "simply" like the look and feel of feminine garments, especially the feel of sensuous fabrics that can lead to very auto-erotic pleasures. Others have created within them a feminine alter-ego or persona, and their male side takes great pleasure in pleasuring their female side. This is in many cases due to a low self image as a "masculine" male, and the alter ego becomes the object of their loving.

It's significant that very few crossdressers are gay. They like females. Being feminine is as close as they can come to emulating the ladies of their desire.

Simple you say? Overcomplicated?

No, my dears, there is no simple explanation or few explanations which will explain the mystery of cross dressing. As the author showed us, when tracking only one hypothosis through the available information about cross dressing that exists one is bound to create multiple exceptions to that hypothosis as well as the ground work for creating several brand new hypothoses.

Excellent article not only in style, but also substance and tone. This is the human mind we are talking about after all ladies and gentlemen!

I agree with "It's quite simple" in that male children who have a low self-image, who unconsciously realize they may never have a true relationship with a "real" female, create a feminine alter-ego within themselves and fall in love with it, buying "her" gifts of feminine clothing. Whether making love to one's alter-ego is "auto"-erotic is, however, debatable.

Also, as that feminine persona can neither say nor do anything to elicit anger, the relationship is permanent and even marriage does not break the bond, creating a menage-a-trois few women can tolerate.
