Uhh, FYI...
while the US is more prudish than most of the rest of the Western World, it is light-years ahead of Japan. And I don't say that to poke fun at them; even studies done of sexual satisfaction find that Japan is not just last, but arguably an outlier to the low end of the scale. The article was somewhat interesting, but the completely random and pointless US bashing at the end kind of pissed me off, frankly, as it was neither accurate or necessary. And also, the one night stand deal; I don't really see why that would be relateable, unless you relate to the "Oh, I was a dumbass" feeling you got for thinking a bar pick up or what have you was going to be true love.

Thank you for pointing that out to me. I didn't mean to bash my country, but it was only my opinion, and I never said I was right. I have a tendency to be too general when criticizing things. I have no idea about how sexual mores and attitudes are in Japan. I could have said "one of the most prudish nations in the world", so I will gladly edit it to say that.
The one night stand thing, well, that certainly is relevant because Jennifer had the feeling some of us ladies get, what you speak of, that "dumbass" feeling, thinking maybe this guy could be "The One", and when she finds someone she feels a connection with, he starts to abandon her like used garbage, and she felt hurt and used. She took matters into her own hands, which was bludgeoning him to death with a lamp. Not recommended, of course, but the way it was presented in the theater was kind of humorous. You had to be there.
