I liked it, and I was disappointed when it suddenly ran out of steam. The "crabs" question was bluntly put: I'm not persuaded that Honey would speak that way. Having read Powell's monumental and, at times, somewhat pedestrian epic, I'm left wondering if you could tell us more about your characters. The theme could go deeper. Your story could benefit from more events, more words and more description, unlike many on here!
Your writing stands off the page so much. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about it thats unlike anything I've ever read. Keep it up!
And yet so terribly...academic, as though the professor is giving an illustration, in the form of an anecdote, of how to get it awfully wrong and awfully right simultaneously. This is not a criticism of your work, please understand. In fact, it's not a criticism at all. It's a kind of inverted paean, if you will...backhanded, but sincerely meant, in keeping with your elegantly told but unexpected story! :)
Me too!

Another good one...

Compelling style
The narrative flows so easily. You really have a gift for this.

Almost mythical!

The right kind of story.
Beautiful story and very evocative, I think I need to re read Powell.
