What about a Subaru?
For the same money as the VW "shudder" consider the Subaru WRX. Fastest car 0-60 under $30K, 265hp all-wheel drive sedan or 5 door and you can get it blue. It don't have leather now but a leather option is on the way.
Decision has already been made?
I could have sworn you'd go with the Mustang. Love those big Ford V8 engines. SO easy to work on and make all those little aftermarket 'improvements'.... heheh. Then again I also have a strong opinion on the Camaro ss as well, as it's based on a car we have around here locally. I've owned one and all I can say is that it was a lot of fun.
The other cars you've mentioned are nice. But that's it. The previous poster mentioned a rexy, and they're nice too, but I believe they really show their age after thirty or fourty thousand miles. I dunno if that's true, but it's what I've heard mentioned a few times. Personally, If I was to move away from the V8's, I'd go for a Mazda rotary. Do they still make the RX8's? I've owned a few rotary powered cars (an RX4 an RX3 and a Maztech RX7), and I promise you they were a LOT of fun.
Dude, you've made up your mind. Why am I commenting?
Pick a girl mechanic
You will spend so much time with your mechanic with your German car, find a dealership with a cute girl mechanic.
i sell Subaru; have sold Ford and Honda
The prob. with the WRX as well as the GTI is they are turbos. That's where the power comes from. 4 cyls. rev high, and having driven v8's that may disturb you. Plus the WRX is a sedan. To me, it's a kids car, and for the kind of money he's talking about the new Legacy GT...also a 4 cyl. turbo is more of an adult car...but it's a sedan not a coupe.
The prob. with the Mustang is handling. Drive a WRX before you buy and see the huge diff. in handling...which to me is key. Life is not always a straight away.
Both German cars will be high maintenance. But if forced to chose, I'd go with the BMW. But really? a loaded 6 cyl. Honda Accord Coupe. handling, speed, lower maintenance costs....
But everyone should buy a new car before Dec. 31. Sales tax deduction expires then. Not going to be repeated.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG just make up your mind !!!!!!!!
Stay away from European vehicles.
Stay away from European vehicles unless you like the snob appeal. Their reputation for quality is undeserved, parts are ridiculously expensive and you will likely end up having most work done at the dealership since few independent shops excel at servicing or repairing them. Plus those dealers labor rates are 20-40% higher than those of Japanese or domestic brands. I would look at the Japanese brands a second time before making a decision.
Check with a knowledge Ford Dealer
Especially if you want the Mustang...You can get a higher Horsepower in the Stang....It's all about the chip and the power package. Proud Stang Owner.
GTI All The Way
BMW is overpriced & over rated.
Mustang is ok but still overpriced in my book especially if you want more power & have to upgrade the engine.
The GTI is a great car, the cheapest to insure & maintenance is par with the stang.
It all comes down to personal preference but make sure you look @ insurance & the cost of maintaining it (brake jobs, tires, tune ups)
Good Luck
Car & Driver Etc.
Did you happen to see if VW had any full page ads $$$
Have you ever had to buy a european replacement part $$$
for those full page ads.
I'm a dyed in the wool Chevy guy --- but how can you pass up the MUSTANG ???
On vacation...
a couple years ago I rented a convertible Mustang. I can say with complete confidence that it was the WORST car I have ever driven! Total POS. I would pick any of the other cars you listed before I purchased a 'Stank. I crack up every time I see one on the road. Usually driven by a someone straight out of the cast of Jersey Shore.
If you have already made up your mind
you have wasted a lot of people's time. I suggest you find a copy of Intellichoice at your library (costs about $80). They give honest breakdown on anything you would be buying. Their cost of ownership breakdown is great. If you are rich buy the BMW or Mercedes they assume anyone with enough money to buy one has enough money for $250 & up tuneups.
Check the Consumer Reports annual car issue; oay attention to what they say are problem areas. Check online with Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book. Call your insurance company and find out what your choices would cost you for insurance.
I have owned 2 Olds Cutlass 1 Mercedes 280 and one Toyota Camry, if you want long term problem free you have chosen the wrong model. Do online research or look at your library. Buying GOvernment Motors is a bad idea, my Camry is 19 years old and I have had almost no problems with it.
You are going to be stuck with your choice, research first.
My bet is you will do nothing I have recommended.
Car and Driver/web sites
You should go to car and driver magazine and also check various web sites on the cars your looking at.
Find out the pros and cons to what the other car owners said.
I drive a Taurus and my significant other and I go to various web sites for what's a common problem. What can I expect later down the line.
See what the site of the car you want says. Find out what people say who are not paid to talk about the car.
Wtf?
Why exactly is this on literotica??? I mean, yes, this category is "non-erotic" but I don't think this is quite what they had in mind. Take this to a car forum. If someone wants to answer your inane questions about your vehicular choice, they will log onto a different web-site--not this one.
What about the AMERICAN working man?
The American economy is in the shitter and you're going to buy a German car? And on top of that you're going to spend your tourist dollars overseas? You must be one of those rich, bonus earning, Republican investment bankers we keep reading about. And from the snobbish tone of your story you probably play with Polo too. You also probably have an undocumented foreigner working for you as a maid and/or as a sexual slave to satisfy your bizarre sexual tastes. So why didn't you work her into the story? How easy would it be to have sex with a lithe, naked, black nippled Latina chicita in each of the cars you're considering? Now that would be interesting...
Dummy
BMW is made in S.Carolina, all the companies are intertwined except Wallmart, thats all China all the time. But don't worry about it, right now as a country were so fucked we will never be back like we were, but thats how they want it.
Thanks For The Opportunity To Sell American
That giant sucking sound heard in every state is U.S money and U.S. Manufacturing Jobs being sent overseas.
Years ago there was a quality difference that no longer exists today. Vehicle Plants are all automated and many are newer then the foreign plants here.
Do you support the businesses in your home town? Drug Stores, Grocery Stores, all other type stores? If you don't those jobs will also go elsewhere.
It rots my socks when it is evident that gross and net profits of Japanese vehicles far exceed American vehicles because their governments assist their companies with paid insurance and a suppressed Yen value as does China.
It torques me that any idiot looking back to trade policies imposed by Japan can see that since the 70's they imposed tariffs on U.S. Vehicles and goods which made them non-competitive plus constrained their import quantities to create an unfair playing field.
We were and are idiots not to treat them in like kind.
While it is true the unions were no friend to anyone outside their ranks that pendulum has now swung more towards center and will swing further yet in time.
People just don't get it that if they don't start to buy locally and lean towards U.S. made products when all else is reasonably equal their taxes will increase and job opportunities will decrease in the coming years.
Selfishly we need to begin to look out for ourselves and our children as no one else really cares about our future.
vw=happy and smart driving
...Well this is a strange place to post...BUT..the clear value is the GTI as is the utilitarian side and economical side......on the /fun factor this 2.0 FOUR is a missle and provides REAL world acceleration and balance few can compare with....I have been in the retail car biz 27 years and have sold all 3 lines....VW hands down!
Go with the Mustang
I think you should go with the Mustang. My friend has a GT and he loves his car. And I'd buy a black one with red leather and red stripes. Wow.
Mini Cooper
Your girlfriend is the smart on in all of this. She drives the car that you should buy a Mini Cooper S. You can't beat that car for quality and engineering. And it's made right here in my country.
Only, I'd go with the more powerful one, the John Cooper Works. Good luck in your decision and Happy New Year.
I like a car with a big backseat
I don't like any of the cars you picked. None of them have a big backseat. Sometimes a girl gets in the mood and she needs room to satisfy her needs. All of those cars are too small.
For the same price as all of those cars, you can buy a Chrysler 300. They have a comfortable backseat. Trust me. I know.
Holy Shit!
Holy shit!
I never thought this little nothing story would get so much attention. Now, with all these comments, I'm going to have to rethink my decision. I need to take all these cars out for a test drive.
Even though I like the GTI, I have a fondness for the Mustang, but the new Camaro is so hot.
I'm kind of ruling out the BMW because they are kind of bland and too many people have a 3 series.
Thanks for all the helpful comments everyone.
buy a big ass sport ute
I'm with Barbie on this one, PT. I like a car that has room in it. None of the cars you picked has room for my purse. Yeah, I know, you're a guy and except for your dog, you're usually alone, since your girlfriend drives her own car.
If I was to buy a car, I'd buy a big ass SUV, a Range Rover or one of those big new Chevy sport utes that they have that gets as good gas mileage as a Toyota.
Wait for the 2011 Mustang
Gees, PT, are you still undecided about which car to buy? We talked about this in September. You said you were buying a Mustang. Then, when Car & Driver came out with their top ten and Automobile Magazine nominated the GTI as their car of the year, GTI is all you talked about.
Now, you're back to square one with the Camaro and BMW in the equation. I don't think your ready to buy a car. If it was me, I'd wait until for the 2011 Mustang with the 5.0. The GT will be just as hot then as the GT500 is now and at a bargain price.
Enough said.
You should buy the inferno orange Camaro SS
I missed this story and if it hadn't been for the feedback portal and all the recent activity, I would have missed out on the fun completely.
I'm from Indy the car capital of America. If I was plopping down 35 large for a car, I wouldn't buy anything but the Bowtie, the Camaro.
If you haven't you have to drive one. Definitely, I'd buy the inferno orange with the inferno orange interior. Man, that car is hot.
If the Devil, himself, was to buy a car, he'd buy the inferno orange Camaro SS.
hold on there...
You seem to be willing to plunk down a few bucks. As most honest people will say: a new car is not a good deal (unless the govt. is giving a rebate). Why? Because as soon as you drive it off the lot, yes, just off the lot--the value is reduced by a minimum of 15%. UGHHHHHH. Why not by a dealer's car that has just a few thousand miles or less and pay substanially less. You then may be able to get that BMW 335 you want. Practically speaking there are still "new" 2009's out there in the dealers' lots begging for a new home. Leather is my preference but it can burn your ass in the summer and freeze you tushy in very cold climtes. Hope this helps. P.S. Just don't kick the tires or ogle (?sp) over the cute-factor.
great car info
you always write well about anything you have a lot going on in your head i will refer to this when i get to go and buy a car
silly girl
CarBuff would know
