divorce incentives

I finally found out why my family court judge (Her Honor - sarcasm intended) won't grant me joing custody of my children.

The Child Support Performance and Incentive act rewards states for increasing the gross amount of child support collected, which gives the state a financial incentive to place the child(ren) with the lower earning parent.

See http://fathersunite.org/Child%20Support%20Incentiv e%20Abuse%20Report.pdf.

Another 5 pointer

One comment. Not all doctors are rich thieving bastards. A few are. I know an orthopedic surgeon who charged for fifteen rotator cuff surgeries in one morning then charged for 105 office visits that afternoon and BC/BS paid them all. As a southern rural family physician, my net income is less than 90 grand a year. I live comfortably but not in high style and expect to work as long as my body and mind permit. This means no retirement!! But, hey, I love what I do and when I retire I'll keep doing what I love to do.
Rhenquist has done us all a favor by contributing this article.
I gave a full 5 as truth is always better than fiction. Realdoc in the rural "heart of Dixie".

Alienation of Affection?

In many of the stories, the wronged husband sues his wife's lover for something called "Alienation of Affectation," It's my understanding, that if allowed, the best the plaintiff will get, will be compensation for legal expenses. If that. Any comment, Mr Rehnquist?

Someone posted about a friend of theirs who returned from Vietnam early. He claimed R&R was based on "kills". Not so. I was in Vietnam in 1968, and we ALL got out of country R&R. I never applied for In country. Most Vietnam veterans never killed anyone. The majority of enemy soldiers that were killed, was by aerial bombardment, helicopter fire, mortar fire, and artillery.

Just Another and Great Contribution Along to Usual Stories .....

by Mr. Rehnquist. His contributions stopped in 2012. I wonder why? I hope it is because he is so damn busy and successful in his other job (lawyering), he can't engage in his pleasurable and fun story writing. I think I read somewhere he had passed away. I hope this is not so. A fine, fine story teller.

Fascinating

Congrats. Fascinating essay. Five out of five. Anything that makes a story more realistic makes for a better story. Also those commenters who talk about killing their spouse rather than go through a divorce - stop it. You are creeping me out. Cheers Steve

Bravo! Please get it right.

Thank you for setting the stage for the court systems. I can understand your concern for fairy tales that are projected as fact. I am retired military and the same applies often in stories using a military or veteran environment. I think TV and movies are often worse though.

I recently found your writings and find that I enjoy them immensely. Please continue.

Right on!

As a long-retired attorney from a different state, I appreciated your Brief about what used-to-be called Divorce Law. I also agree that Family Law can be very rewarding at times, and extremely depressing when a husband and wife totally disregard the child or children. I enjoy all your stories. Write some more.
