A little behind in reading this
But it is entirely possible for the Dad to be gay. For decades gay men have been marrying women because that is what they were supposed to do. Only within the last 5 to 10 years have gay men been coming out of the closet as opposed to getting married to a woman. So that really is realistic.
As for men in the story, I completely agree. I like my Lesbian stories to be completely void of male characters.
