Emotionally, I like the shotgun a lot. In reality, though, . . .
What is unfortunate is the way Nan will get custody of the children and alimony and the house and God knows what else. Unless, of course, the children can testify to her corrupting their morals, since she fucked her lovers in the house such that the kids knew about it, even though they were too young to really understand it. Then maybe she would lose custody. Our "hero" loses everything anyway. Nan and her comments . . . "I take my vows seriously." I guess she takes vows seriously except when a woman changes her mind . . . Holding the kids at gunpoint, by the way, could result in charges against hubby, even though he did it in his own house and we emotionally agree with what he did. And of course, any taped confession about blackmail is null and void when coerced with a shotgun pointing at one's vitals. I guess I still liked the story emotionally but the credibility factor is rather low. At least it was a somewhat original variation on the "coming home and finding the spouse cheating" theme. Thanks for writing.
Except
Nan gets Mary, Brian, and John; the house; child support; and probably alimony - at least for a time. No good deed goes unpunished. You try to spice up your love life and make it fun again and it blows up on you. Guess she really didn't take those marriage vows all that seriously.
He didn't point the shotgun at anyone and could legitmately say he wanted it for protection when confronting 3 fit men. The admissibilty of the confessions are, at best tenuous. But he was looking to buy silence. It won't work but it was worth a try.
Personally, I think he would have been better off calling the police and claiming he caught 3 men raping his wife. When the truth came out he would have much better off going into the divorce. He might even have gotten custody of the children.

I would have given it 5 stars except.
1: The following is impossible since there are no such cocks, "it had to be eleven or twelve inches long and as big around as a pop bottle."
2: The age is consent in more than half the states is 16, not 18 and even then there are usually a close to age exceptions.

....why is it everybody plays the custody card....is it because only dimwit lawyers take the father's case...are all of the judges insensitive buffoons,people get to argue cases in court because the of circumstance that lead up to the trial....law is never always one size fits all.....fighting means wanting the best for your children....that they come first and are worth dying for.
Children are better off with a father(even if he has to be absent) than a spineless pretender.
